Getting organized

Time to figure out what to bring and what not to. Put in the most important things first and then see what room I have left. Not much as it turns out. Lol. Too many presents… The upside is that we have plenty of room in the luggage when we return to bring presents back!

The temperature and weather in California is a challenge at this time of year with very chilly mornings around only a few C and then up to 15-20C in the afternoon (if we’re lucky).  Hmm. And very cold here when we leave so I guess we need to dress for that too. And maybe a lot of snow when we return. Who knows.

Short day today and have been a busy bee all afternoon doing laundry, tried packing and getting dinner on the table. Puh. Good thing I still have another couple of days to figure everything out.

Celebrations

A busy Sunday getting ready for having family over for celebrations tonight. Since we are on our trip when my hubby is having his birthday we invited our family over for coffee and cake tonight instead. And since we will miss Advent 1st we tried the “glögg” tonight. The white one that has a new edition every year. This year was quite good with the flavor of “Gamla Stan” (raspberry, pomerans etc).

So nice that all 13 of us could find a time to get together! Lovely to see everyone for a couple of hours! Next time will be around X-mas! Thank you for coming over and celebrate!

Castle of the month – Bogesund

What a lovely Saturday. Started with a sleep in and after breakfast my hubby  gave me a lift over to Body Care Center so I could have a massage. Mm. Nice. He was a star and picked me up afterwards and then we drove up to Bogesund to visit the castle we have chosen this month.

It was freezingly cold today and snow here and there but we strolled around the castle and took a look at the property. It was built by Per Brahe back in 1640. A residence behind the castle was built back in 1895, the Park Villa, for the head gardener and today the villa hosts a lovely café. I had a bowl of sweet corn soup served with freshly baked focaccia bread which was really lovely. Hubby had lunch with the boys while I had my massage so he chose a hot chocolate with a vanilla bun. A very nice little café well worth the trip.

Picked up groceries on our way back home since we didn’t have time for that this morning. Now I’m preparing a nice Saturday dinner for the family.

Left a bit early

Friday already and an important meeting in the morning. It went well so that was great.

Have been feeling a bit tired all week and when our student arrived for work I cut my day short and left a couple of hours early. Picked up some groceries on my way home and started some laundry. Now I’ve taken an aspirin and crashed in my corner for a bit before it’s time to start dinner.

Love this photo from our summer holiday. Good memories. May the weekend begin.

Respect

Time to reflect and give people the benefit of the doubt. Thoughtful words – “Today you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So whatever you do today, do it with kindness in your heart”.

Next time you get upset if someone is being annoying, don’t have patience with their kids, is being rude or whatever – remember you don’t have the full picture. What have their day been like before this moment.

No special reason for these thoughts – just saw the note and thought it was worth remembering. Especially now when darkness is all around us, covid is making a new entrance in society and people are quite grumpy in general.

May it be

An extremely busy short day but I managed to complete the task. Great. I was so tired when I got home I had to rest for a bit. Made a slow-cooked chili for tonight which just needed my attention to begin with – then it cooked itself in the oven.

I love to listen to an old best-of-album by Enya and one of the songs on the album – May it be – was the movie music to “Lord of the rings – The fellowship of the rings”. I just love their music!

“May it be an evening star, Shines down upon you, May it be when darkness falls, Your heart will be true, You walk a lonely road, Oh, how far you are from home.
Mornie utulie, Believe and you will find your wayMornie alantie, A promise lives within you now

May it be the shadow’s call will fly away, May it be your journey on to light the day, When the night is overcome, You may rise to find the sun
Mornie utulie, Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantie, A promise lives within you now

A promise lives within you now”

Broken glass

Long day today. Some snow fell during the day but not to last. It is quite chilly outside and it won’t be long now before winter arrives.

When I was waiting for the subway I noticed this broken glass door. I just like abstract patterns and fun things to photograph.

Hubby has an event with work tonight so it was just me and the boys for dinner. I heated up some leftovers for dinner and now I’m just going thru my mail and chats.

Blue cake

A very cold start of the week but no snow in sight.

After work I went to buy a present to bring with us on our upcoming trip. Then I took the bus up to Åhléns to get material for our crafts night next week. Great to have that done. Had a sandwich for lunch before I went home.

Made spagetti for dinner with bolognese and meatballs. Mmm. Have some leftovers for later to enjoy for “fika” tonight. Father’s Day cake – the blue princess cake – and saffron buns. Mmm. What a treat!

Father’s day 🇸🇪

Flag up for all dads today when Sweden celebrates Father’s Day.

This afternoon my dad picked me up and we went to cheer on our soccer team for the last time this season. Very cold with only a few degrees above 0C so we had put on a lot of clothes to stay warm. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to do better than an even score so only one point instead of the three we had hoped for. This means we ended up in the 7th place this year. So fun to have been able to attend so many games together with my dad and sometimes my mom and sis too. Hope we can do it again next season.

Made a nice dinner for my hubby and boys when I got back home and now we have had some evening “fika” with a blue princess cake and saffron buns. I had bought a nice box of fancy chocolates and a lottery ticket to my hubby – a dad worth celebrating!

Swedish champions 💚🤍💚

A very exciting day with two thrilling games to watch. Hammarby on the same score as Häcken but in the lead due to better goal difference (+3). We had to win today and also retain the goal difference to keep Häcken behind us. As so we did! We managed to defeat Norrköping on an away game with 2-0. Häcken won 4-0 towards Göteborg. The difference was only one goal but – that was enough! Yeah!

Our ladies are the Swedish champions in Damallsvenskan this year. SVENSKA MÄSTARE 2023! For the first time in 38 years! Amazing. And they also won the other tournament – Svenska Cupen – earlier this year. So – twice the champions the same year. So proud!

Congratulations to our women-team! Well done and well deserved!
