Tonight it is the finale in the “På spåret” show I like to follow. Last years winner have reached the finale again! I don’t think that has ever happened before. And they came in second place the year before that. The first season was sent back in 1987 so it’s been on for quite a few years now.

Today it is my mother-in-laws birthday and we were invited over for dinner and cake after school / work. We gave her a bouquet of tulips and a nice leather belt.

She treated us a very nice dinner two-course-dinner and then afterwards coffee and some princess-cake. Yum. This cake in my photo was from a different occasion though.

Enjoying our new bread machine – my youngest is cooking by himself surprising us with a new kind of bread every day. This is not going to be working in my favor.. the scale is already laughing at me..

It’s such a boring day today – it’s raining, cold and grey. No sunshine – no nothing. I hate days like this.

Half way through the week – another couple of days to go then we have another weekend again. Yeah.

The day has come – a very old traditional theme day (as a change to the new ones I have hardly heard of) – the national day of “semla”. It’s a bun filled with almond icing and whipped cream. Mmm.

The day “fettisdag” is connected to Christianity and always celebrated 47 days prior to Easter. It is a day when you are supposed to eat something rich and filling since it is the last day before the Easter fast starts. In France they celebrate this day under the name “Mardi Gras” (fat Tuesday).

We decided to try a new thing in order to help the boys eat good breakfasts. So we have bought a bread machine. It has different programs for different things and can make both bread and dough (for pizza or rolls)  but also jam and marmalade.

My youngest has prepared the first bread – we decided to try a white bread with garlic and cheese in it for dinner. Fingers crossed it will work! We might prepare another kind of of bread for tomorrow morning. The bread machine has a timer so you can prepare the bake before you go to bed and with some luck it will be ready by the time we need it for breakfast.

Friday treat. Chatted with my niece this morning and invited her to meet up for a coffee after work / school. She came up to the office for a quick visit to say hello and then we walked over to a café called Café 60 on Sveavägen. It was a really nice little coffee shop with great coffee and goodies.

We had a chai latte which brought the thoughts back to Xmas. Must have been spiced with cloves or something.

It was very nice to spend some time together – we should do it more often!

Home made bread to enjoy – what can beat that? Oh I know – freshly made home made bread still warm from the oven. Lol. With the butter slowly melting. Mmmmm.

Crashed in my corner watching my new favorite show on tv – Undercover Boss. It makes me smile. So American.

Tomorrow it is Friday already. Where did this week go?

It was way too long since I had one of these shrimp sandwiches so I decided to do something about that. Tried one on dark bread which was quite nice. The white bread ones sometimes get a bit soggy from the shrimps. I hate that. Soggy bread is just about the worst thing I know. Lol.

Picked up a bunch of groceries on my way home and decided to be a bit extra productive this afternoon so I baked some bread while the laundry machine worked its magic. Then I managed to get dinner on the table right in time for the troops to arrive. Oven baked pork flare flat (fläskytterfilé) with bulgur and roasted vegetables. Turned out pretty good. Served with newly baked sifted rye flour buns. Yum.
