Snow snow and more snow. But extremely wet snow which is the worst kind. Hard to showel. And it sticks to your boots so it’s hard to walk on too. We went shopping for groceries and when we got back home my socks were all wet.. Might need new boots.. Bummer.
Time to light the third candle. Just two more weeks then Santa will come. All our gifts bought and wrapped – just waiting for a couple that I’ve ordered and will arrive soon (I hope). Hopefully we will have a peaceful relaxing Xmas with near and dear ones. That would be just perfect.
Nobel day
Woke up with a snow-covered yard outside the bedroom window. It’s going to snow all weekend but it is not that cold so it melts almost as it hits the ground. The ground is quite cold though which makes the melted snow to freeze and the roads are extremely slippery. Not ideal.
Today it is the day when the Nobel Prize is handed out. So much fun to see all the fancy dresses worn by the ladies. A very prestigious award that puts a lot of focus on our country from all over the world. Something to be proud of.
Time to say goodbye ?
Friday and time to say goodbye to a family member on my husbands side. Brännkyrka kyrka – one of the oldest churches in Stockholm built in the 12th century – was a very nice and suitable place for this occasion. With only the closest family present and a few friends it was quite a small ceremony. The song “Time to say goodbye” was very well played on the organ as we walked around the coffin to say our goodbyes. It was nice to be able to be part of today and pay our respect.
Now time for something completely different – to enjoy the finale of the Swedish Idol. I am not sure yet who I want to see win – they are all good in different ways. May the best man or woman win!
Tbt
14 years ago today we were given the honor to become Godparents to this little angel. Time flies. We try to acknowledge this day every year and give our God daughter a little something or do something together.
A very busy day at work – primarily this afternoon. Had to stay a bit late to get everything done. Tomorrow I will only be at work for a couple of hours – then we are going to attend a funeral – so it was good that we managed to finish the binder we were working on. One less thing to worry about tomorrow.
Handball live
A fun evening together with my parents and a friend of ours. With all the handball going on it was fun to switch the games watched on tv for the real thing so we went to cheer on our Hammarby who are struggling a bit right now. They were facing one of the top teams tonight so we were happily surprised to see that they managed to put up a real fight. In the end they lost 24-23. They so deserved to win tonight.
On my way home from work I stopped by at the donor place and made a contribution to the blood bank in Stockholm. I also hash tagged their campaign to spread the word. Feels good to be able to help.
Going home
Tuesday and long day at work. When I work late it usually is a better choice for me to take the commuter train home rather than the subway since the busses match the commuter train better. My colleague also takes the commuter train but from another vestibule and he took this shot of me from where he was standing. Thought it was pretty neat so I “borrowed” it.
Time to cheer on our Swedish ladies again – facing Slovenia tonight. We managed to beat Spain two days ago. One more win will help us advance in the tournament. Fingers crossed!
Pyssel hos K – 5 dec 2016
Advent 2nd
The weekends pass by way too quickly. I need another day. It’s been a good Advent 2nd though – a nice morning at home taking care of ironing and some cleaning. Then after lunch I went to pick up my mother and we went to see my oldest niece’s dance show. She has really developed into a good dancer – follows through her moves and is clear with her expression in her dance. Love it. So proud.
Now after dinner it is time to relax in my corner for a bit and cheer on Sweden in the premier handball game in the women tournament Euro 2016 when we are facing Spain. Go Sweden!
Groceries..
We went shopping for groceries this morning. 3500 kr later (!!) we arrived back home. It’s crazy how much everything costs nowadays. But, when you need all the expensive stuff (cleaning products, schampoo etc) it tends to become quite expensive. Also bought ingredients for our girls-night on Monday when we are going to bake cookies – so I will get some of the money spent back.
Someone ate all the saffron rolls I baked a few weeks back. So, since Xmas is around the corner I made a new batch. This time I made the “lussekatter” but also the almond icing and butter-filled regular rolls. Mmm.
Have a great Saturday night everyone!
Artipelag
The yearly Xmas-party with my work. This year we went to a show which we never have done before. The name of the show was “Alla kan äta julbord” (everyone can enjoy a Christmas smorgasbord) and it took place at Artipelag (an international venue for art, good food, events and activities). Erik Haag and Lotta Lundgren entertained us – a couple who have been doing a lot of shows on TV eating their way through the centuries letting us know what people used to eat way back.
Tonight they had a series of short acts in-between our courses talking about the history behind the Swedish Xmas food traditions. So – seven parts later (yes, the Swedish Xmas smorgasbord consists of seven different kinds of things to enjoy) it was time to head back to the city. A good evening with a lot of great food and laughter.
