The alarm went off at 03.20 this morning. Time for my husband and youngest to leave and pick up my brother-in-law and the girls to go to the airport and fly to the Alps for a week of skiing. So. Me and M all alone for a whole week. But, today it’s New Years Eve and it’s time to celebrate. We will spend the evening among our friends, as we have for many years now. I was about to write decades and I guess I could – we have spent this evening with our friends since before any of us had kids and the oldest of our children just turned 22.. Time flies.
I wish you all a great new year and 2017. Be safe!
Quiet Friday
The juniors are playing hockey in Canada right now. So far so good – three games – three wins. One to go. The commentator said Sweden has not lost one game in the group play the last 10 years. 39 wins in a row so far. But, we haven’t got quite the same excellent record in the quarter / semi / finals unfortunately. 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze during those 10 years. Let’s hope this team will be successful and bring one of the medals back home. The last two years we have been placed outside the winners’ stand. Our turn to shine now I think.
A quiet day cleaning and sorting out my drawers. Two bags of clothes up for donation. Too big, too small, out of date or just things I don’t wear anymore. Feels good to make room for something new!
No sleep in..
They started digging again at 07.00 this morning.. fortunately I had taped the hockey from last night so I had a great start of the day anyway. Curled up in my corner – kids asleep – enjoying the game and my breakfast while I did some laundry. And we won 4-2 towards Switzerland. Yeah! Tonight they will face Finland but this game is also played in the middle of the night so I guess I will record this one too.
My parents are down in our paradise now for a couple of weeks over new years. I was tempted to go with them but decided to stay home since my oldest need to stay here due to a huge exam in after the holidays. I hope they will enjoy many gorgeous sunsets while they’re down there – good for the soul.
Builders still work.. ?
My first day of vacation! Nice! Finally my turn. And nothing major planned – more than just take one day at a time and try to relax and regain some energy. But, at 06.45 the builders outside started digging again and after 45 min I was so hungry and not able to sleep I went up instead. Oh well.
At 11 me and F went to pick up my sis and the girls and the 5 of us went to Heron City to watch the movie “Sing”. It was quite good and we all liked it. Then we had to hurry home to meet up with the lady who was doing the inspection of our house.
One goal for this break is to get to the bottom of the food in our freezer.. So fish on the menu tonight with oven baked potatoes and green peas. Mmmm.
Work work work .. ?
Tuesday and time to go back to work again. But only for a day – then I’m off for 12 days. Yeah!
It was quite a busy morning at work but then after lunch it got awfully quiet. Finally it was time to head back home and the city was covered in Xmas lights on my walk to the subway. So pretty.
Tomorrow we will have an inspection of our house made since the construction of the road need to blow up some rocks in order to continue the work. So they need to document any cracks or damages on our house before they begin so that we can’t blame them for any damages on our house after they are done. That’s good I suppose.
Annandag jul
Third day of Xmas – with dinner at my parents-in-law. We had decided to see each other at 5PM so like yesterday we had the day to ourselves before it was time to head off. We went to see if we could find some things on the sale but we only came back with a few small things. Oh well.
Dinner was great and we had a good time together. After dinner we enjoyed photos from their last trip – this one took us to Morocco and it was fun to see what they had experience there.
Junior World Championships in ice hockey started today and Sweden got a great start by defeating Denmark 6-1. Let’s hope they will go far in this tournament!
Juldagen
Three days of traditions that we cherish very much. First day at ours. Second day at my parents. Third day at my husbands’ parents.
We had a slow relaxing day to start with and decided to not meet up until 5PM for our dinner together. My mother always treat us the dish my grandmother used to make for us on Xmas day. Beef roulades with boiled potatoes, green peas, gravy and home made red current jelly. Mmmm. My sister calls it the best dinner all year. I am inclined to agree.
We had a great evening with great food & enjoying each others company. Thank you for making this day special!
Julafton!
A wonderful Xmas eve with the family. Every second year it’s all 12 of us and these years have a special place in my heart. This year was one of those years and we all met up and shared a glass of “glögg” and goodies infront of the traditional Disney-hour at 3PM. Afterwards we enjoyed a smörgåsbord jointly prepared with all sorts of wonderful food. Then, after clearing off the table, the kids put on their santa-hats and handed out the presents and when everyone had received all their gifts we were allowed to open them. A lot of smiles and laughter – some tears (of joy) and hugs later it was time to enjoy some coffee and afters.
It was a really nice evening – one of the best Christmases we have had actually. Tomorrow the fun will continue at my mothers’ and the day after that at my mother-in-laws’.
A very Merry Christmas to all of you!
Chai
Today I bought myself a treat going to work – I have been off coffee since last Monday so I decided to try a chai latte (tea) instead. I was so stressed a couple of weeks ago I decided to get rid of the caffein in my system until Xmas. Said and done. Last Saturday when we celebrated an early New Year with my sister and her family I enjoyed a cup of espresso after dinner. That’s it. And I do notice a difference. But, now it’s Christmas and my caffein-free period is over. Tomorrow I will enjoy coffee again.
Merry Xmas everyone!
Xmas around the corner ?
Another day with over-time but now it’s only one day left. And tomorrow the office closes a bit earlier so fingers crossed I will be able to go home in time. I don’t really like when Xmas is on a Saturday.
When I got home dinner was waiting for me to heat up and after dinner I took a nice bath. Now time to relax in my corner for a bit before it’s time to hug the pillow.
