Shrimp sandwich

imageA full day at the hospital so I treated myself a shrimp sandwich for lunch. And a latte. It was possibly the last day at the children’s department. Next time my oldest will be seeing the adult’s department. Feels a bit strange. My kids are growing up so fast.

Tonight we have an important soccer game – a derby. Oh I wish we will manage to get our game together and win. We started out so strong in this highest division, but we are struggling a bit now to be honest. Fingers crossed!

Breakfast and Kirstie

Sunday morning and I am enjoying a couple of Kirstie Allsopp’s shows on TV and having my breakfast. She is on BBC Lifestyle and her shows are about cooking, design, tips andimage tricks around the house, fun ideas on how to furnish and things to do. And she speaks with a great British accent – can’t be wrong, right?

We completed half of the hedge yesterday – my husband using the hedge trimmer and me using the rake. Going to try and gather enough energy to finish the work today. It looks so much better when cut and sorted.

Yesterday I managed to fit in a long walk around the forrest to see if I could find some chanterelles or funnel chanterelles but no luck. Well, I found 1.. lol

The forest was gorgeous though with all the heather in bloom.  And I reached my walking goal and exceeded 10.000 steps. I actually did 14.000 steps. Yeah!

Saturday morning

What a morning – almost a clear blue sky and the sun is shining. I am enjoying a quiet breakfast waiting for the rest of the house to wake uwpid-img_20140602_064545.jpgp. My oldest is up, of course.

A whole weekend with no plans – just some ideas of things that would be great if we could do. Such as cutting the hedge. Buy groceries. Study. Go to the mall and run some errands.

Me and a couple of friends are organizing a class reunion next month and I am now getting in touch with friends from way back. It will be great to see them again and catch up. This is the third reunion I am part of organizing – we had the first one back in 1995 – then 2005 – and now 2015.

Have a great weekend!

Fredagsmys

First week of work after vacation has come to an end. A busy week but still extremely long and slow. image

Two long walks today – reached my goal with a vengeance – and the lake was stunning as usual.

A nice evening in my corner with a glass of wine (didn’t have any wine last weekend since it was the 10k run) enjoying an episode or two of a series we follow. Going to have a very nice weekend with no big plans. Just one day at a time. Have a great one!

Warm bus

Today it was really warm on the bus. Both going to work and imageback again. I decided this morning that I would walk back home but in the end I had to get some groceries so I ended up on the bus anyway. And I really hate it when the bus get like a sauna. Why did the warm nice weather come now instead of when we had our vacation? Bummer.

The choir last night was not at all what I expected. I have to think about what I want – but the big minus is where they hold their choir practices. It’s quite far off and I will need a car to get there and it is in the middle of nowhere sort of. Beautifully situated by Mälaren lake with a gorgeous view, but you can’t park by the house so there is a walk through the forrest to get there. Don’t feel all that comfortable with that part. Hm.

Choir

Not a great day so far – hoping for a great ending. Going to a wpid-wp-1423747037031.jpegchoir practice with an old friend to check out a choir we might be interested in joining. I have no idea what kind of music they sing, what the repertoar is, what kind of ages and people that are in the choir etc. So it will all be a big surprise and it can either be a success or quite the opposite. Fingers crossed it will be a positive experience. If nothing else, I will spend the evening with my friend and that is always a good thing.

Thank you, mom and dad, for helping us out today! Love you!

Work

imageToday I decided to start my day with a walk to the subway in the lovely sunshine. A great way to start the day.

Long day today but it went really well and I felt I did my share at work. We have a busy fall ahead with a lot of computer-related stuff to take care of. Things that fall on me. But it will be a fun challenge.

A lasagna is in the oven – I decided to make it tonight since we have a busy afternoon tomorrow at the hospital. Then we have a great dinner to just warm up tomorrow when we get back home!

Time to get busy

Five lovely weeks of vacation have come to an end. It has been a good leave and I feel rested and ready to role. Besides work – the next couple of weeks will be filled with meetings and doctorsimage appointments though – one day at a time and we will get there in the end.

A nice turkey and cheese omelette started my day and a great fish casserole ended it. Tried a new base for the casserole – a tomato soup – and it turned out really good.

Now some corner time to relax before it is time to hug my pillow.

01:34:30

We did it!!! We reached our goal! We had fun and it was imageamazing to run through the city in the middle of the night. Together with 38.000 other runners. With thousands and thousands of people cheering us on along the whole track.

The arrangements around the event were fantastic. Plenty of toilets. Extremely easy to know where to go, when to start, which group was next to start. Nice volunteers and a very nicely decorated track with lots of fun entertainment to make the run a bit easier.  A track system built in to the little tracking devise placed on our shoes – so near and dear ones could follow us on a map when we were running.

11889636_10153209651067561_2592496923562339507_nMe and my niece managed to finish below 100 min with margin. We finished in 94,5 min. I am so very proud of myself – that I dared to enter, dared to take the challenge and most of all – that I was able to fulfill the race and complete in a time that surprised us all. And we would have reached the deadlines even without changing start group! Wow.

Today I will not move from my corner. But I am not too sore (dread how I will feel tomorrow) – just very happy, tired and with a slight headache. And I have won my very own well deserved medal.

Life is not so bad.

Midnattsloppet

The day has come. My first big race. 10k around the beautiful Södermalm in Stockholm. I have been involved with this race since it first started 34 years ago. But I have never entered. Never run 10k ever. But somehow it seemed like a challenge I had to takeimage. To prove something to myself. To feel I can do anything and be very proud of myself if I actually manage to finish. And finish before they close the race for those runners who weren’t quick enough to reach the deadlines. That is my big worry.

So with a little help from my amazing parents we managed to switch start group and get a couple of extra minutes to reach those deadlines. Made the whole difference to my belief in myself and a tiny glimpse of hope appeared.

Wish us luck!
