The day has come. My first big race. 10k around the beautiful Södermalm in Stockholm. I have been involved with this race since it first started 34 years ago. But I have never entered. Never run 10k ever. But somehow it seemed like a challenge I had to take. To prove something to myself. To feel I can do anything and be very proud of myself if I actually manage to finish. And finish before they close the race for those runners who weren’t quick enough to reach the deadlines. That is my big worry.
So with a little help from my amazing parents we managed to switch start group and get a couple of extra minutes to reach those deadlines. Made the whole difference to my belief in myself and a tiny glimpse of hope appeared.
Wish us luck!
We did wish you and “the men” luck. Perhaps it helped a bit. But you did the running.
