Midweek already. Today my admin colleague had the day off so I was by myself all day. There was a meeting scheduled for the afternoon, so I brought lunch with me today and stayed on until the meeting started and could leave after that. So, only a couple of extra hours today.
Tried again to find myself a new pair of shoes but no such luck today. Maybe I need to order them on line instead, but I like being able to try them on before I decide. Oh well.
Love the crystal art mushroom that I bought this summer. The one on the photo is a different one than what I bought, but it looks kind of similar. I have my mushroom on the shelf and placed it on a small light tray so it lits up. So pretty!
Long day
My first full day in a while and it was very long – or so it felt. But, we got a lot done and were busy bees carrying the huge pile of empty computer boxes down to the wastepaper room. Goldstar for us!
Made some comfort food for dinner – baked common beans with meatballs. Mmm. Pasta with the meatballs for the boys. Now I’ve crashed in my corner to watch some swimming from the European Championships in short tracks.
Back
Time to get back to work again and get up at 6 AM again. I managed to get up in time and got ready. Noticed that I had hurt my eye – yesterday I got some sunscreen lotion in my eye and it itched quite a bit. Today I have a black eye… Oh well. I wonder what it will look like tomorrow – better or worse?
Had a short day today – perfect start of the week. It went without any major problems – just a minor hick up. Stopped on my way home to get some groceries and made a lasagna in the afternoon to serve for dinner. And burgers with pasta as per usual.
Now some corner time and maybe a cup of tea. Then the week continues tomorrow.
Home game
Back home again. But, a fun Sunday with a soccer game together with my dad. My hubby was kind to give us a lift there so we only had to go commute on the way home.
It was a great afternoon with nice weather – not too warm but sunny. Almost 23 000 people in the audience and it was a good spirit in the arena. It was important that we won to keep our 2nd place – the teams behind us are closing in. But we did win – a clear 3-0 ! Yeah!
We bbq chicken tonight served with rice and the home-grown tomato my dad gave us. It was delicious! Thank you! Now some corner time before it is time to hug our pillows. Work starting tomorrow.
Last morning dip
Always so sad when we have to pack up and head back to the working life again. But, one last dip in the ocean before we leave is a must – if the weather Gods are with us. And they were – even though it was quite windy and not as warm in the water as it has been the last couple of days. But, 18.5C so no problem getting in.
The drive back went without any problems. My dad drove the first part and I drove the rest. We stopped for lunch as planned and then a fika at our regular place. Some traffic due to an accident held us back about 30 min but other than that it went without any problems.
Back home again it was good to hug my hubby and youngest son again whom I haven’t seen in a week. They had prepared a bbq dinner for us – lovely. Now I’m doing some laundry while zipping on a glass of wine. One more day off. Then back to work again.
Packing and storing away
Time to get busy with the final packing and storing away all the outdoor furniture, shower and grill. But, with a joint effort and some planning it is done in a reasonable amount of time.
This afternoon, the S family stopped by for an afternoon fika. Lovely to see them, even just for a few hours. They have one more week off and were going to the north part of Öland so we were on their way. Perfect! They have visited us almost every summer since I don’t know how long – so it is a dear tradition.
Tonight we will enjoy my mom’s burgers with potatoes. Then a quiet evening infront of the TV. Most likely no sunset to enjoy tonight – it has been a very windy and cloudy day today. We even took the flag down last night due to the wind.
Two less
Today it was quite windy outside and a completely different challenge to go into the ocean with all the waves compared to the complete calm yesterday. But, 20.4C so nice water temperature!
My mom and I went grocery shopping after breakfast and now in the afternoon my sis w/ family drove down to Kalmar for some errands and also to drop off their daughter at the train station. Then my dad took our guest L to the bus stop and he left us to go back to the city. So, two less at the dinner table tonight.
We have been busy starting to prepare for packing up after summer. I have done a lot of laundry today among other things. And also had time to read in my book “The Phenomenal Women of the Grand Hotel” by Ruth Kvarnström-Jones. It is really good!
Tomorrow will be our big clearing away day with all the outdoor furniture, the bbq, the outdoor shower etc. Sad but necessary. Hopefully we can come back for a long weekend this fall!
Mindfulness
This morning we could experience another morning that we refer to as an “Ölands-morning” when the ocean is completely still, warm and the sun is shining. The most perfect way to start the day – a swim in almost 20C water and just peace and quiet. Mindfulness. Regaining energy. Time with my parents and oldest niece.
Then afterwards – a lovely breakfast and a nice coffee before the day begins. We haven’t done much today besides enjoying the day off. We treated ourselves to a glass of bubbly and some parmesan crips before it was time for my sister to start making us pasta for dinner – mmmm – while I set the table.
The storm that the forecast predicted didn’t show up – just a few drops of rain during the afternoon. Maybe we have another sunset to enjoy tonight. The one last night was amazing. A few more days before it is time to return to the real world again – or is the real world down here in our paradise?
Dewberries
An amazing day with no wind and a lot of sunshine in the morning. Then a bit more cloudy during the day, but clear sky again in time for dinner.
K and I went on our yearly dewberry-picking round and managed to fill our buckets. A crumble will be baked after dinner as a Tuesday treat for Allsången – or maybe we’ll save them for tomorrow and have cheese and crackers tonight. We’ll see.
We are bbq-ing for the last time this summer – tomorrow we are going to clean the grill and pack it away for the season. We are having loin of pork and a t-bone steak served with oven baked potatoes, bbq cauliflower, onions and corn on the cob. Mmm. Hopefully we can sit outside and it looks like we might have another amazing sunset to enjoy tonight.
Afternoon coffee

Last week of vacation and a sunny start with 19C in the ocean. Lovely.
Today we went grocery shopping in Löttorp after breakfast and also made a quick stop at the clothes store up there. I found a few things that I liked – a dress, a blouse and a sweater. Perfect.
This afternoon our second-cousin was here for an afternoon coffee and we celebrated her upcoming birthday. We had a nice chat and it was great to see her for a bit again. We have all been so busy this summer so we haven’t had a chance to see each other, even for a quick coffee.
Tonight we have bbq salmon (meat for the non-fish-eaters) and it turned out great! Served with a roe-sauce and new potatoes.
