Another island

After work today me and a couple of colleagues took a flight to Gotland to attend a birthday party. One of our colleagues live in Visby and had invited us to attend his do.

I took a long walk when we arrived to look around town for a bit. Visby is a very old village built back in the 11th century and it is surrounded by the 3,5 km long ring-wall built about 100 years later. All the streets are made of cobblestone and the houses are charming.

The birthday party was a success and we all had a great time enjoying good food and music from a live-band. I’m so glad I came along!

Squill

Spring-feeling today. Lovely. Almost 18C during the day and sunny. Didn’t wear my winter coat for the first time in ages.

When I came home from work these lovely flowers had started to bloom in our garden. They are called striped squill – porslinshyacint in Swedish – and I think I planted them more than 25 years ago and they return every year.

Made a bolognese for dinner tonight. Now we’ve crashed in our corners with a cup of tea while catching up in the cyber world. Updating this page, reading emails etc etc.

Shearling darling

Back to work again. A lovely sunny day but quite chilly this morning. By the time I went back home it was rather nice outside – spring is back!

Treated myself to a manicure and polish of my nails. Haven’t done that in ages. Choose a dark red / wine colored polish called Shearling Darling that will look great with what I’m going to wear on the party I’m going to on Wednesday. Now I just need to be careful and not get any dents in my new polish.

My oldest is home sick today with fever so he had to postpone his treatment another week. Hopefully he’ll feel better soon.

102

A Sunday with mixed weather – and soccer broadcasted on TV this afternoon with our team facing the toughest possible opponent. But, our loss wasn’t as great as I feared it might be (2-0) so that’s something at least. Going to watch our team live on my birthday – something I look forward to very much.

Have run some laundry, changed our bedlinen to the new ones I bought in Kalmar, planned what to pack for my night-away next week when I’m going to a birthday party out of town. The weather prognosis is a bit uncertain so I will have to wait a few more days before I know for sure what to pack.

My hubby’s great aunt turns 102 years old today – happy birthday to you! Wish you a great day with a lot of greetings and celebrations!

Day in the car

We got up our usual time and had breakfast, packed the last bits and pieces and started our long drive back to the real world again. Hardly any traffic and ok weather. We stopped for lunch half way back and arrived home 6,5-7 hrs later.

Now I’ve made dinner to my family – hubby had bought the groceries – so now we’ve had a nice meal together the four of us for the first time in over a week. Lovely!

Tonight there is a tribute to ABBA and the 50 year anniversary since they won the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1974 with Waterloo. Shall be interesting to see.

Sunny start

It rained some during the night so most of the snow was gone by the time we got up this morning. My cousin w/ family drove back to town after breakfast and me and my parents went for a nice walk in the sunny, but windy & chilly, weather.

I am so grateful that we could stay here for a week together and regain some new energy. The cold that I brought with me is almost gone and I feel much better than I did a week ago. Good. Tomorrow we start the long drive back to civilization again. Hopefully without traffic or incidents.

Family time

Thursday already – time goes by way too quickly.

We managed to gather the whole family for lunch at Kårehamn today. My uncle w/ family came along too – great to spend some time together – all 11! I enjoyed their fish soup which is a favorite of mine.

Tonight we have a “smörgåstårta” to look forward to. Mmm. I brought a nice bottle of white wine from our visit to Lodi  with me here that I thought I’d treat my family.

This afternoon we received some more snow but now it’s raining instead. No weather for a walk along the coast, unfortunately.

April weather

It was snowing half the night so this morning we woke up to a winter wonderland and quite windy. It settled as the day went by and tonight the grass is showing here and there already.

Me and my sis had to get groceries but the roads were no problem to drive on and there was no traffic to speak of. So, we got back safely.

Now it’s time to hug my pillow and maybe read some in my new book –  “Where the crawdads sing”. Everyone says it’s great – let’s find out if I agree.

Visit in town

It was very windy last night and you could really feel the weather outside. It was also raining for part of the night. After breakfast we drove down to Kalmar to run some errands – we managed to get most of the things done! I found some bedlinen that I wanted to buy so that was good. Need to upgrade both here and at home.

We received news from the city that it’s been snowing a lot up there. We got a few snowflakes here too but nothing that lasted long enough to get the ground white. Maybe we get some more tonight.

When we got back home my sis made bolognese and I made the spagetti. Teamwork. Tonight we have watched another couple of episodes of “Jack Reacher” – only three left of this season now.

Easter Monday

Monday already – the weekend went by way too quickly. This morning my hubby, K & S and Ss boyfriend drove back to the city again. The trip went without any problems and hardly any traffic either. Good.

Me and my sis went grocery shopping – just a few bits and pieces for the next couple of days.

It’s been quite cold and grey today so we haven’t been outside much. Just a quick walk around the block to get some fresh air. Had leftovers for dinner served with my sis’s delicious homemade potato gratin (!) and after dinner we enjoyed a couple of episodes of “Jack Reacher”, season 2. I finished reading my book – I have another one with me if that would happen. Might start on that tonight.
