Juldagen

Three days of traditions that we cherish very much. First day at ours. Second day at my parents. Third day at my husbands’ parents.

We had a slow relaxing day to start with and decided to not meet up until 5PM for our dinner together. My mother always treat us the dish my grandmother used to make for us on Xmas day. Beef roulades with boiled potatoes, green peas, gravy and home made red current jelly. Mmmm. My sister calls it the best dinner all year. I am inclined to agree.

We had a great evening with great food & enjoying each others company. Thank you for making this day special!

Julafton!

A wonderful Xmas eve with the family. Every second year it’s all 12 of us and these years have a special place in my heart. This year was one of those years and we all met up and shared a glass of “glögg” and goodies infront of the traditional Disney-hour at 3PM. Afterwards we enjoyed a smörgåsbord jointly prepared with all sorts of wonderful food. Then, after clearing off the table, the kids put on their santa-hats and handed out the presents and when everyone had received all their gifts we were allowed to open them. A lot of smiles and laughter – some tears (of joy) and hugs later it was time to enjoy some coffee and afters.

It was a really nice evening – one of the best Christmases we have had actually. Tomorrow the fun will continue at my mothers’ and the day after that at my mother-in-laws’.

A very Merry Christmas to all of you!

Chai

Today I bought myself a treat going to work – I have been off coffee since last Monday so I decided to try a chai latte (tea) instead. I was so stressed a couple of weeks ago I decided to get rid of the caffein in my system until Xmas. Said and done. Last Saturday when we celebrated an early New Year with my sister and her family I enjoyed a cup of espresso after dinner. That’s it. And I do notice a difference. But, now it’s Christmas and my caffein-free period is over. Tomorrow I will enjoy coffee again.

Merry Xmas everyone!

Xmas around the corner ?

Another day with over-time but now it’s only one day left. And tomorrow the office closes a bit earlier so fingers crossed I will be able to go home in time. I don’t really like when Xmas is on a Saturday.

When I got home dinner was waiting for me to heat up and after dinner I took a nice bath. Now time to relax in my corner for a bit before it’s time to hug the pillow.

Vintersolståndet

Winter solstice. The darkest day of the year. Tomorrow we will have a couple of more minutes of day light and in a couple of weeks we will be able to tell the difference. But right now our days are really long. Today the sun came up at 08.43 and set at 14.48. Tomorrow it will rise at 08.44 and set at 14.50. The day will be 1 minute longer. Yeah!

Tonight we have been grocery shopping the last (well… ) for Xmas. It was extremely tricky to get the car out due to the construction – they promised to be ready yesterday but no such luck. We might need to talk to the builders tomorrow.

Light lunch

A shrimp sallad was my lunch today – haven’t had one in quite a while. It was delicious but didn’t keep me full for very long. The last couple of hours at work I started to wish I’d had a bigger lunch. Lol. But, I’m sure my figure will thank me later.

Three more days. Then Santa will be here. No snow outside – a couple of degrees above 0C and rain. Not very X-mas like.

Xmas week

Focus focus focus. Last week before the holidays. The builders have dug a huge hole outside our house now – warned us this morning that we might not be able to use our car for a couple of days. Great. Hopefully it will only be a couple of days and not the rest of the week.

Few things make me more stressed than not being able to get on with things. Waiting is not my strongest point. But, I have to learn to focus on things I can affect and not worry about the rest. Learn when it’s “good enough” and not over-do things. Easier said than done.

Advent 4th ????

Sunday and time to light the 4th candle. We also bought and decorated our xmas-tree today. So now the whole house smell so lovely of the fir tree. The little Santas and elves have come out of their boxes and are now decorating the shelves in the living room.

A lazy day otherwise – just relaxing and enjoying great sport on tv. First the last game in the Channel One Hockey tournament – we lost the game today but we won the tournament all together. Yeah. This afternoon I have been watching the bronze-game in the European Championship in Handball and right now I am watching the final. Norway – the Netherlands. What a great weekend in many ways.

New Year came a bit early

A very special Saturday. Since we will not be able to celebrate New Year all eight of us together my sister decided to invite us to a “Pre-New-Year-dinner”. It was such a good idea and we had a great evening together! With some bubble and snacks to start – then a great dinner with no expenses spared – and then some sofa-time with “Grevinnan & Betjänten” and games my sister had prepared. I am so grateful that we have each other and that we always have so much fun together.
❤❤❤

Nojito

Friday again. Me and my oldest niece had decided to meet up after school / work. We have been out for a coffee a couple of times and I really enjoy spending time with her (and the other young adults of course). This time I decided that we should check out the skybar at the new hotel by the central station. They have a terrass up on top of the roof with a spectacular view. We had a really nice time enjoying a “nojito” (a non-alcoholic mojito) and some truffles I got for Xmas. They had set up a really nice lounge outside where we sat on reindeer fur with nice blankets to put on our legs. Really cozy. Let the weekend begin!
