Shrimps

Sunday and a day filled with chores. Thought we would give our beds a good cleaning so we have laundered the mattress pads and cushion covers. Haven’t done that in a while. Feels great to get it sorted!

Since we have enjoyed a lot of treats this weekend I had a healthy lunch today with a shrimp salad. Mmm. Making a lasagna for dinner – perfect food for our youngest to bring with him for lunch this week.

Great handball game to enjoy this evening when we are facing Portugal. We need to win these last two games in the middle round if we want to play in the finales. Fingers crossed.

Castle of the month – Ängby

We didn’t manage to visit a castle in December as planned, but this year we are up for the challenge again. The castle of the month of January is – Ängby Slott in Bromma.

We invited my parents to come along and we had a nice afternoon together enjoying Swedish waffles with home made jam, whipped cream and coffee. Mmmm.

The castle was build during the 17th century and has great cultural historical value. Since five years the castle is rented out to a lady who has called her café “Hemma hos Annika” and she is serving all sorts of home-baked pastries as well as lunches and different kinds of coffee. Well worth a visit if you haven’t been!

Treat

A very busy day that deserved a reward – treated my family to a nice Friday dinner with tenderloin steak, gratin and sauce bearnaise. Mmmm. Finished the last glass of the red wine from Michael David Wineries that we bought when we visited Lodi wineries. Some of their wines are sold here in Sweden too – this particular bottle will soon be sold here. Perfect match with the tenderloin and some cheese for afters.

Tonight we are facing Denmark in the middle round – the only other team that hasn’t suffered any losses so far. Going to be a great game!

Managed to sleep

I did manage to sleep quite good last night, which was great. Also, I managed to finish the things I didn’t yesterday so that was also great.

Cold snowy day today and had to wait  about 20 minutes for my bus this morning. Brrr. Have when commuting isn’t working seamlessly.

Long quite busy day today and tomorrow it’s going to be even more work since two of my colleagues are off. Good thing it’s Friday so I can relax and enjoy the weekend after I’ve finished my day.

We finished most of the leftovers for dinner tonight – I chose the fish casserole. Mmm.

Next round

Midweek and terrible weather outside – not that cold but snowing sideways. Awful conditions to commute back and forward to work. But, I made it and now I’m back home, glad to be indoors.

Had a couple of challenges at work this morning that I didn’t manage to get done. Hopefully I will tomorrow. I really need to get better at having the same patience with myself as I have with others. Now I need to try to not stress out over this and hopefully get some sleep tonight.

Middle round in the European championships in handball starting tonight – we got two pts with us from the group round. Yeah. Now four new games before we know which four teams that will be in the final round.

-14C / 6.8F

This morning it was really unpleasant to wait for the bus with -14C and snowfall. This photo was taken yesterday in our paradise – doesn’t really make me long to go down there either. Lol.

Long day today and quite busy. I signed up for a three day education in the end of May that the Swedish Bar Association offers to law assistants. Haven’t been to a training other than the in-house ones in nearly 5 years so it’s about time. The topics this training is covering sounded quite interesting so I look forward to participating.

Today it was announced that our law firm has been nominated to Lawfirm of the year – yeah! They will reveal the winner in a couple of weeks time. Fingers crossed!

Snowy

A really unpleasant morning waiting for the bus. Snowing and cold weather. Brrr.

Going to make a 3hr-chili casserole today which is perfect on days when I get off early from work. It cooks itself while I can do laundry and other things.

Tonight it is the last group play in the European championships in handball. We have won the first two games and this one is towards the Netherlands who also has won their first two games. Shall be interesting.

New king

Today was a very special day for our neighbor-country Denmark. Their queen Margrethe II stepped down and her oldest son, Frederik, took over as the monarch and new king of Denmark – Frederik X. Their prime minister – Mette Frederiksen – held a speech to the people welcoming their new king. Then the royal family joined them on the balcony to receive the greetings of the crowd outside the castle. A special day indeed.

Tonight we were invited to my parents-in-law for dinner. We had to postpone the boxing day dinner since we were sick but today we were all well enough to see each other. We were treated a nice turkey dinner – yum! So nice to spend a few hours together and chat and catch up a bit.

Assistance

Didn’t sleep very well last night for some reason and couldn’t sleep in either. So, I got up around 7.45 and enjoyed a quiet breakfast instead.

Got a question this morning from a colleague that needed urgent assistance so I logged in to my work account and helped out. It is easily done now when we can do it from home and don’t need to go into the office.

Saturday so that means a visit to the waste disposal site. Nice to clear away the waste sorting. Then grocery shopping to fill up the fridge with fresh food. Baked a cake this afternoon and then I made a fish casserole for dinner. The boys had tacos. Now we have enjoyed the spa for a bit while waiting for the handball game to start.

Flowers

Friday and a weekend to look forward to. It’s been raining off and on today and it’s been really unpleasant outside. Not very inspirational to go for a walk. Next week the forecast has promised really cold weather again. Brr.

I / we received these lovely flowers from one of our suppliers who is going to start working at another company. Just a thank you for the years we have been working together. Nice.

Now I’m going to start a nice dinner in a minute. And tonight we have a tough choice when “På spåret” and “Bäst i test” are broadcasted at the exact same time.. Which one do we watch and which one do we stream / record .. ?
