New week – new challenges.
But, so far so good. Listened to one of my favorite music collections going back and forward to work to get some extra pep – Enya – The very best of.. This song “Only time” is a favorite.
Helped my boys this afternoon with this and that. Feels great that I can help and actually make some difference. Before we know it they will be moving out starting their own lives. But, until then I’m a happy camper having them here with me. Love them so much.
Maid
Woke up early after quite a good night sleep in our empty bedroom. Going to be fun to get started with our makeover project! I ordered a new bedspread and pillows yesterday. I love love love our patchwork quilt but it is quite old now, a bit torn and don’t really go with our new wallpaper. So, let’s hope this new one will be as loved as our old one has been.
Right now I’m watching a miniseries on Netflix called “Maid”. I quite like it. It’s about a young woman and her struggles and challenges when her life crashes.
Going to see my parents in a couple of hours to make some plans. Not great weather today. A bit grey and almost raining. Perfect day for indoor activities.
Marathon
We started our Saturday like we always do – grocery shopping and getting rid of garbage. After lunch we watched the end of Stockholm Marathon on TV. Usually this race takes place in June but this year everything is different.
Then we began our own marathon – lol – and started to empty our bedroom. Last weekend we took down the pictures and paintings on the walls. Today we took away the clothes, wardrobes, drawers etc. Our living room is quite full now. We will have to work around our bed because we can’t put it anywhere else while we paint and put up new wallpaper. Oh well. Our washing machine has been working all day cleaning curtains etc. And now the whole room smells clean of yellow soap. Nice. At least we have started – let us hope we will be able to finish within not too long.
Friday again
I have worked a full week at the office now. It’s been fun but challenging too. So tired and my mind is drained. Good thing it’s Friday and hopefully I can keep myself from dwelling over things to check or remember for a few days. Regain new energy and be able to start next week fresh.
We have had a nice family dinner tonight. Perfect ending of a hectic week. And great news – my youngest niece passed her driving test today! Congratulations!
26
Wedding anniversary #26 – also called a “cork-wedding day”. My husband has always surprised me with a gift inspired by the theme of the anniversary. This year he had included wine corks in the bouquet of flowers that were stamped with our wedding date. He told me tonight that the corks were from my sis/ birthday and that when they noticed the date on the corks decided to keep them for this day. So sweet. He can be really romantic when he wants to.
We had made reservations at the Restaurant Julius in Stuvsta. The food was quite good and we had a nice time. Since they had a rather limited menu we will probably wait to go there again until they have changed it (which they do every season).
So – happy 26th anniversary, dear hubby. Here’s to us!
Rain rain
Fall and rain has arrived. It was literally pouring down this morning. Everyone arrived at work soaked. Oh well. I had my raincoat on so that was good.
Another very busy day but short. It had stopped raining by the time I left work. I arrived home shortly after two and had a late lunch. Now I’ve been working on this and that for a couple of hours before it’s time to start dinner. Think I’ll make burgers for the guys and a sallad for me.
Don’t shut me down
Today it was quite crowded commuting so I wore my face mask. Felt a bit safer that way.
A very busy long day at work. And so very tiring – not used to having people talking around me. But so fun!
Now when I’m commuting I’ve started listening to music again. The new ABBA songs are great and very suitable lyrics-wise. Love them.
“And now you see another me, I’ve been reloaded, yeah
I’m fired up, don’t shut me down
I’m like a dream within a dream that’s been decoded
I’m fired up, I’m hot, don’t shut me downI’m not the one you knew, I’m now, and then combined
And I’m asking you to have an open mind (and I won’t be the same)
I’m not the same this time around (ooh)
I’m fired up, don’t shut me down”
Kanelbullar
After work I strolled thru the city. Good feeling and fun to see how much that has changed and how much that is still the same. A lot of restaurants had closed or been replaced with another. Took me a while to get back home due to cancelled trains and transfers that didn’t match. Oh well. I’ll be back in the everyday life again before I know it.
Made a teriyaki pork tonight served with rise. Quite nice if I may say so.
Start
Sunday. Didn’t manage to sleep in this morning – too much on my mind. So I got up and enjoyed a quiet breakfast and a couple of episodes of “Downton Abbey” instead.
After lunch we started on our bedroom project and emptied the book shelves and moved them to our living room. Also went thru a lot of our clothes and sorted out a big bag to be thrown / given away. Same thing with the books – took a side a bag of those too that we don’t want to hold on to. Yeah. We have also taken down all the photos and painting from the walls. But, now we’ll leave the rest until next weekend when we will continue with the renovation. Fingers crossed we will finish before too long.
Relax
Saturday again. After our regular chores and lunch we crashed in our corners and watched the rest of the episodes of our new Danish mini-series “Kastanjemannen”. It was really good – watch it!
Made minute-steak for dinner and now we’re enjoying some brie with crackers and I am having a glass of red. A nice ending of a relaxed day. And one more day of the weekend left. Yeah.
Oh – the movie last night was great! So much fun to be in a movie theatre again and spend it with my sis w/ family. Special! And a classic Bond-movie with all the mandatory ingredients – loved it! We can really recommend it! Sorry to see Daniel Craig as Bond for the last time – he has done the part justice! I wonder who will take over?
