7 different kinds

A very important day today and time to celebrate a colleague who had a special birthday. Seven kinds of goodies instead of a cake or buns. Very appreciated! This way we could cut them in smaller pieces and try a little bit of everything.

In Swedish they are called ; dammsugare, kärleksmums, biskvi, kokostopp, polyneer (kejsarkrona), mazarin and toscabit. I love them all. Mmm.

Acoustics

Listened to a great album going to work called “Acoustics” with Simple Minds. It’s an acoustic recording with their old hits. My brother in California played it for me during my last visit and it brings back memories from that lovely sunny day when we all went to Napa to visit some wineries.

This minion makes it pretty clear what I feel like at work right now. Both trying to make myself understood with our it-department as well as trying to help my colleagues with their new challenges. One day at the time. And we’ll be fine!

Snow..

Back to the real world again. It was snowing this morning and 2C outside. Hmm. Didn’t feel so good. And it has been quite grey and windy all day.

After work I have been doing some laundry and catching up at home. Dinner is in the oven and we will sit down and have a nice meal together in a bit. Just waiting for my husband to get home too and we will eat.

Going to crash early tonight. Need to catch up on some sleep after the long day yesterday. Maybe we’ll enjoy the spa first if it’s not too nasty weather outside.

Last day

Fourth day and last surf lesson. This photo was taken on the Friday when I came along to the beach. Everybody have enjoyed the surfing, I think. Too bad we didn’t get the lovely warm weather – but we did get a lot better weather than what the forecast predicted. And excellent food – company – chats – seminars – and a fun adventure to remember! We left the hotel after lunch and arrived back in Stockholm at 10.30 PM.

A great weekend in beautiful Portugal – I’ll be back some day, I’m sure!

Peniche

Today it was quite windy, cold and a bit of rain in the air so I decided to skip coming along watching the others surf. Instead I took a walk to look at the beautiful scenery in the area. Peniche is situated right by the Atlantic ocean.

After lunch we had another seminar session which I participated in. I will get a lot of training this weekend – as well as the others.

In the evening we were transported over to a vineyard for dinner and wine tasting. Lovely! First we got a guided tour of the winery by a very nice tour guide. Then we enjoyed a lovely buffet before it was time to go back to Peniche again.

On the beach

Today we went to another beach with a different kind of waves. I decided surfing was not for me – at least not this time – but I came along enjoying the nice weather on the beach (dressed in extra everything since it was quite chilly) taking photos of my colleagues being super-brave.

A few hours later we arrived back to the hotel for a nice lunch with another seminar to follow.

In the evening we went into Peniche for a lovely dinner at a local restaurant. I tried a dish called “bacalhau” which is considered to be one of Portugals’ national dishes. It is dried and salted cod. It was fun to try and quite tasty but very salty.

Surfing

The alarm went off in the middle of the night (or 3.50 AM to be exact) and the taxi picked me up 40 min later. 9 hours later we had arrived in Peniche, Portugal, had had a nice lunch and changed into our wetsuits for our first surf class. It was windy, slightly raining and not the best conditions for beginners. Unfortunately, I ended up watching the others. I was struggling a lot without my glasses (couldn’t wear them while surfing) so I gave it a miss.

After the surf lesson we had a few hours of conference which we will have every day. I participated along with the others – quite interesting to listen to my colleagues seminars.

The hotel was great – Surfers Lodge – with very nice rooms, fantastic staff and delicious food. Let the fun begin!

Busy busy

I think I managed to tick off all my to-do’s today. We are going away with my work for a long weekend and while we are away a lot of things will be going on in the office that I need to keep track of and be of assistance to if necessary. Lists to write, people to instruct etc etc. Fingers crossed everything will go according to plan.

Now some quiet time with a cup of tea before it is time to hug the pillow. The alarm is set to 03.50… can’t wait. Lol. I hope I have packed the right things. The weather seems to be extremely unpredictable – not warm and sunny at all unfortunately. I’ll keep you posted!

Transfer

Wooaaa what a day. I have no words.

It started really good though with this amazing sunrise while waiting on the bus. I should have stayed there. Remain in the moment. Seize the day or whatever it’s called.

I accompanied my youngest to the hospital today. He had his transfer to the adult section so we had a big meeting with both his pediatrician and his new doctor. Took a while – we didn’t get home until after 5PM.

Now we’ve had dinner and also I’ve talked to my mom for a bit. Time is not my friend right now. But, one day at a time. Soon we’re done with all the changes and things will get back to normal again. Can’t wait.

April

It is so hard to figure out what to eat – especially that the whole family enjoys. We try to buy something new as often as we can to try to expand our menu. Last time we shopped for groceries we bought a new kind of rise made of green peas, chick peas and red lentils. M didn’t dare to try it but F liked them. I served them with home made burgers and a creme fraiche sauce with sun-dried tomatoes. It was ok. We ate it all so that was good. And they looked pretty! I shall try them in a casserole next time, I think.

April 1st. Finally a spring month to look forward to. So much fun planned the next couple of months. Yeah.
