Long walk

Another lovely day and another long walk. This time we walked for 1 hr 20 min – around the lake. I am so glad I bought the icebug-boots with the nails/cleats under. They are very helpful when it is this slippery outside. The lake was completely crowded with people – hundreds of them – skating, skiing, walking, bbq:ing in the lovely weather. It was about 10F /-12 C this morning but a bit less cold when we took the walk.

Now the family is gathered together in front of a movie – The Saint. Doesn’t happen too often, usually we are enjoying our evenings in different parts of the house. So this is nice! Miss our youngest though.

Oh – and happy birthday to my dear friend in Holland! Hope you had a great day!

Baking

Today my husband and son are away all day on a LAN playing computer games. So I enjoyed a quiet breakfast, changed sheets in our bed and did laundry. Decided to bake these rye breads. It was an absolutely beautiful day today so I went for a walk over to my parents but nobody was home. When walking back I met them – they had taken a walk too so I walked back with them and spent the afternoon there. My mom had made a gorgeous rhubarb cake and served it with custard and a coffee. Mmmm. It was so nice and relaxing to just spend the afternoon in their company. I am so grateful to have them so close. Now I’m back in my corner waiting for the handball game to start on tv. Sweden vs. France. Next round is starting. I assume my computer gamers are back home too in a bit and maybe with some luck they will pick up dinner on their way.

Ruins

Finally Friday. First Aid Kit has just released a new album on Spotify – Ruins – and I listened to it going to work today. It was quite good but I need to listen to it several times before I know for sure how I feel about it. I really like their voices and the sound. A bit country and sad. They were guests at Skavlan (a talkshow on TV) the other week and talked about the background to the lyrics. “From the ruins something stronger arises”.

My BFF stopped by for a quick visit to try our spa. I think it met her approval! Now time to enjoy Friday eve. In my corner. Watching “På Spåret”. Have a nice eve!

When the body speaks

“To the soul’s desires
The body listens
What the flesh requires
Keeps the heart imprisoned
What the spirit seeks
The mind will follow
When the body speaks
All else is hollow” // DM

An excellent song that was the last one I heard before I arrived to work and therefor the one that followed me around all day in the back of my head. Depeche Mode really have some great lyrics and tunes.

And then some..

It’s been snowing all night apparently .. we woke up in a winter-wonderland today. But it was not very cold – around 32F/0C – so when I got into town it was just melting away already.

Short day today. After work I met up with my BFF and we had the best afternoon. Went over to NK and had a sandwich lunch and ended up sitting there chatting the whole afternoon. We haven’t seen each other for ages and had a lot to talk about. And it was a good talk and we will meet again on Friday to try our spa! Lovely! Hopefully the weather-Gods will cooperate.

Snow snow

Today winter arrived .. It was really windy and rainy last night and we skipped going into the spa. So I was hoping to get a chance tonight instead, but that’s not going to happen. It is really awful outside. Hopefully it will get better by tomorrow. But, I do welcome some snow – it brightens up the world. It is so very dark outside at this time of year. I can do without the wind and the rain though.. Not my cup of tea.

Something that is my cup of tea, on the other hand, is the handball game on TV right now. It would be great if we could win this game – would give us a much better ground to advance in the tournament. Go Sweden!

New week

An early start today and Stureplan was completely dark when I arrived in town. And the tree was still up – but they had taken down the decorations in the streets.

I couldn’t sleep last night. Again. Need to be able to let things go. Not dwell on things instead of sleeping. After work today I had some me-time and went to see my naprapath for a treatment. Got rid of that pain in my left shoulder and released some tension in my back caused by lack of sleep. Also got a new set of exercises for homework.

Now we’ve enjoyed a nice dinner, watched an episode of our series and maybe we’ll go out in the spa before we go to bed. Hopefully I have prepared my body and mind for a good nights sleep. Fingers crossed. Oh – and M’s exam felt ok so with a bit of luck he passed. Yeah!

Quiet day

A grey Sunday. Slept in a bit. Had breakfast infront of the tv watching an episode of the Israeli series “Hostage” that we are following. We are on season two now and it is quite good. It is a challenge though, since they don’t speak a language we understand so we have to rely on the subtitles.

A friend came over with a circular saw we asked to borrow. We  are going to have a person coming over to help us clean the chimney and smoke passages in the kitchen and he needs to access one of the ventilation drums that unfortunately is built in. So my husband has made a whole in one of the kitchen cabinets to access it. And now that particular cabinet is clean. Yeah.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Mischief

Time to rescue the Xmas ornaments on the tree before they fall off. Our poor tree – not much left of it I’m afraid. And when I had safely tucked away all the old treasures Nelson took his chance to make a mess .. again .. Lol. Never let a goat into your living room without being prepared for some mischief.

Went to the post office to send a package to my dear friend in Holland. I hope it will arrive in time for her big day. Can’t believe that we are getting closer to our over-the-hill birthdays – as my American family calls it. I must say it sounds rather positive – over-the-hill must mean that it’s all down hill from now, right? Soon it is my turn. Made some surprise arrangements yesterday.. to make life easier.

Weekend

Friday again. First week completed. The Xmas tree on Stureplan looked so abandoned this morning. No snow. No winter-feel. No people. This weekend it is Hilarymas Day (Tjugondag Knut) so it’s time to pack all the Xmas-decorations and take down the tree. Shall be very interesting to see if this big one is still there on Monday or if they have left it up for a bit longer. I will definitely take away Xmas at home – our tree is about to let go of some of the decorations. We will have a Christmas tree plundering event at work on Sunday but I have decided not to attend, even though it would be fun to see my colleagues families. But, I need to spend the weekend at home. Have a good Friday eve!
