New Year 2017/2018

New Years Eve – we celebrated it with all our friends like we have done the last 20-some-years. Some of the young adults weren’t there and some of them left after dinner and one of the grown-ups were sick. 23 of us were there and enjoyed a three-course-dinner (I was in charge of the sallad) and then my sister had prepared some games and fun to enjoy. Over all a very calm and nice evening among dear friends and we arrived back home around 2.30 in the morning..

Happy New Year everyone! And may Sweden defeat Russia tonight in the last group play in the Junior World Cup… Lol. If we do, we have won 44 group plays in a row – but it is the games after that really matters.

(PS! We did win.. after penalty shoot-outs.. and secured the victory of the our group. Facing Slovakia in the quarter.)

Travel plans

What a great Saturday. First we went to the movies – we had made reservations at the VIP-salon for my family and my sisters’ family to the new Star Wars-movie – the Last Jedi. The movie was great and it was fantastic to sit in these very comfortable luxurious chairs with all the space in the world and no-one to block the view.

After a quick lunch we went over to our friends house for an afternoon coffee to plan and book our trip together that we have talked about for so long. And after 9 hours including an amazing dinner and creative planning we have made most of the reservations for our fall adventure! Yeah! Scotland – here we come!

Last day

The three days in-between the two holiday season weekends have come to an end. I didn’t manage to get off on time but I was close. Lol. Strolled up to Hötorget and tried to find a top to match my new pants but it was just so crowded due to all the sales and the line to the fitting rooms were just ridiculous. However, I finally managed to find a few things that I liked and bought. I hope they will go with the pants – I hope I can wear it for new years!

Now I have time off and I am not due back to work before January 10th. Lovely. Time to spend with my family and friends. Relax and be outside – maybe do some cross country skiing. About time! We bought the equipment years ago and still haven’t used it. Terrible.

Thursday

I re-arranged my hours this week and instead of 4+7 hrs I have worked 8+3 hrs in order to go with my youngest to the hospital. Fingers crossed tomorrow will have no major surprises and I might actually not have to work any overtime this week. So far in December I am well over 100% instead of the 80% that I’m supposed to work.

My mother always makes these lovely arrangements for Xmas – a tradition that goes way back. After Xmas I take them apart and re-plant the ones that is still looking ok in new pots. I still have some of them years later! ❤

Back to work

Time to leave the comfort of my home and get back to the city for some more work in-between the holidays. And it was a good start of the week – just enough tasks to keep us busy and feel needed. But also some time left on our hands to go over some tasks that it is hard to find time to do when we are really busy.

Strolled through the city on my way back and found two pairs of pants that I tried on and bought. Lovely. After a light dinner we enjoyed the spa for a bit and our four xmas-ducks came along and entertained us! Should have brought the camera!

Annandag Jul

Last day of the long weekend and a lazy morning to relax and enjoy the day. Alright – yes – I did do a couple of machines of laundry and yes I did spend 30 minutes making Swedish pancakes for lunch but other than that I didn’t do much besides started to watch the new season of “The Crown”. Three episodes later it was time to drive over to my parents-in-law for boxing day dinner – which was lovely! A starter plate with mixed goodies from Xmas, then reindeer steak for main course and a passion fruit decorated dessert. Mmm.

Tomorrow it is time to get back to work again – for three days – then I have 10 days off with my boys and 1 extra day for me. Can’t wait.

Juldagen ?

We slept in a bit today – so tired after a long day yesterday. But so nice to have another couple of days off to relax and spend time together!

On Xmas day we always have dinner at my parents – and the years we don’t celebrate Xmas with my sister and her family we do that at my parents the day after. So today we had a treat giving and receiving presents from her family! My sister gave our dad a jigsaw puzzle which we started to put together and the rest of the family enjoyed a new Mario Monopoly game that our oldest received. Our mom had prepared a delicious dinner and happy, full and content we arrived back home!

Julafton!

We didn’t get a white Christmas this year but we got a great day and evening together. The smörgåsbord was amazing (as it is every year) and together we contributed to all of this yummy food. And the best part is that we have a lot of leftovers to enjoy the days to come!

This year it was my family, my parents and my parents-in-law who celebrated the day together – starting with glögg and candy in front of the traditional Disney-hour, then setting up the smörgåsbord. After dinner we open our presents and then after that we had fruit sallad and / or chocolate pudding for afters with coffee / tea. This year enjoyed with a glas of the fine Cuban rum that I got for Xmas. What a treat!

Thank you for making this day special! Looking forward to the next two days when we get to spend more time together. Relax and enjoy time off and great food and company! Merry Xmas!

Christmas spirit

I was so tired last night – we tried to watch a movie together and I managed to stay awake until 9 PM … I had to skip the last 30 min and go and hug my pillow instead.
11 hrs later I woke up again ready to face a new day. Today we have been getting ready for tomorrow cleaning, doing laundry, buying groceries but also relaxing and enjoying the day off. Our oldest is off to see his friends and our youngest is about to go to the movies with his friends. I guess me and my husband have to get used to being by ourselves.

It doesn’t look like we will have a white Christmas this year – it is almost raining outside, green grass with just a few areas covered with snow and a grey sky. So boring. Hopefully it will change soon.

Last day

We made it through the busy week! Christmas is coming. And I am fairly ready. House is clean (well.. ) and decorated (a bit less than usual). Need to buy the last groceries tomorrow but most of the food is in the fridge. The last presents that I had ordered on line arrived today – talk about luck! Now all we need is some snow to make the world a bit more like a winter wonderland so the Xmas spirit can arrive. We have decorated our tree tonight and spoiled ourselves with a take-away dinner (pizza / kebab).

Let the holidays begin!
