Stitches

Today it was time to finally remove the stitches from the surgery I had two weeks ago. The scars have healed well and look good but they started to bleed as she took away the thread so no bath yet. Have to keep a band-aid on for the next 2-3 months to make sure it heals without too much stretch-marks and scarring.

Chatted with my youngest for a bit today – two more weeks and then he’ll be back for a visit. I am so very proud of him! Can’t wait to see him again!

Fires

My mind has been with my near and dear ones in northern California today. The  awful fires that are destroying everything in it’s way and seem very hard to control. My dear friend and her family was evacuated today and are now staying at a hotel in Point Reyes. They are doing ok but afraid the fire might reach their home. Not yet though. All of my other friends and extended family are safe and able to stay in their homes. All effected by the fire in one way or another. Everything is covered with soot and you can feel the air isn’t as clear as it is supposed to be.

Tonight Sweden is facing the Netherlands in their struggle to reach the world championships in soccer next year in Russia. They have a good chance of making it – so fingers crossed!

No overtime

It was still raining this morning and continued off and on all day. Everything went fine at the office and I managed to leave on time and no overtime today. Yeah! Strolled over to NK and tried their crêpes for lunch. I’m sure I will do it again – very tasty and not expensive! Perfect!

Bought some roast beef on the way home and slow cooked it for dinner. Nice to have time to prepare something from scratch and not having to fix dinner in a hurry. Now some corner time to relax before it’s time to hug the pillow.

Rain rain rain

It rained all day yesterday and it rained all day today. But we enjoyed a fantastic 5-course dinner last night that took almost 4 hours from start to end. If the weather would have been nicer we would have strolled down to lake Mälaren – the view was spectacular even on a rainy day. After a great hotel breakfast we checked out and headed back home to our oldest who spent the night by himself at the house.

Our robotic lawn mower gets stuck in the mud – lol so we went to buy some grass seeds to try to grow some new grass on the area where we removed plants in front of our house.  Almost time to put him away for the winter anyway. We still haven’t bought any new bushes or plants to replace the old ones with. And today it was no fun looking since it is raining.

22 years

This morning the alarm went off at 05.50 and my husband was so nice to get up and give me a lift to the subway since the buses didn’t match the time I had to be at work today. The move went smoothly and I was able to get back home early afternoon.
Unfortunately, I missed this years edition of the “Spiken” competition (the 47th one), and none in my family ran this year due to various reasons. My parents are amazing in keeping traditions and making them mean something and matter.

When I got home I got out of my dusty clothes and took a shower and then we took off to our romantic gourmet weekend away at Görvälns Slott to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary.

AW

Friday again. Extra hours to prepare for the big move tomorrow. We packed away all the computers and electronics on everyones desks to make the move of the workplaces tomorrow easier.

Afterwards I went to the AW organized for former (and present) Hewlett Packard colleagues. This was the 4th or 5th one I’ve gone to and they are always very well attended. So much fun to see some of the people I used to work with for so many years. The time we shared on HP meant so much to all of us and when hundreds of former colleagues still enjoy coming together a couple of times per year, that really says something about the bond we all shared.

When I got home my husband surprised me with these roses and a gift for our anniversary tomorrow. He is so considerate and sweet!

“We are not there yet..

.. where we need to be”. DM

What a day. I am completely exhausted. And very dusty after being on the floor at work sorting papers that haven’t been moved in ages. But we managed to get a lot done and now we don’t have that much left for tomorrow. And there were buns left from yesterday. Yeah!

A short-cut-dinner tonight – spaghetti with already-made-sauce to just heat up. Didn’t have the energy to cook anything from scratch. And now I have crashed in my corner drinking tea (I know – I’m surprised too).

Kanelbullens dag

A national theme day – day of cinnamon buns – and apparently we buy 6,5 million cinnamon buns this day. Amazing considering we are about 9 million people in Sweden.

Today I met my oldest niece for lunch and a coffee. She wanted to go to Phil’s burger close to my work so we did. It’s quite a popular place but I have never been so it was nice to check it out and the burger was good! Afterwards we strolled through the city and window-shopped a bit and then we had a coffee close to the commuter train station. A great afternoon.

Getting closer

A long and busy day and it was actually getting dark when I went home. And it was only shortly after 6PM. Brrr. Fall is getting closer. The leaves are dressing up in sparkling colors and the weather is not to be trusted.. Lol. The days have some rain, some sunshine, some wind. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Besides a date with my niece! Can’t wait!

Real estate tax return

Today when I got home I had received a letter from the tax authorities wanting me to fill in some papers. I guess it’s just to get busy and get it done. A few changes to report.

A storm is coming our way – it’s been very windy all day and the clouds are getting more and more dark as the day goes by. My parents are on their way back from our paradise and they have had heavy rain on the way. I suspect it will hit us here too any minute. Now I’m home so that’s ok. I just hope it is sunny again tomorrow morning.
