First snow..

This years edition of the carved pumpkin gave in this morning due to a few frost nights. Don’t dare to light it anymore – the lid might cave in. This morning it was snowing a bit too – the first snow this season that I’ve seen anyway. But, it was just a few snow flakes and they melted away as soon as they touched the ground. But if you look closely you can see some on Mr Pumpkin.

Long day at work and now I have 5 days off to look forward to! Next time at the office will be on Monday. Yeah!

Winter time

Yesterday it was time to switch over to winter time again. I prefer summer time and I struggle every year trying to get used to winter time again. I don’t mind sleeping in the extra hour – but I do mind having to wait for my lunch and getting off work an hour later. And it gets so completely dark in the evenings. I know, the mornings are a bit lighter – but that only lasts for a week or two anyway. So – let’s skip the changing of time. Please.

When I got back home I made a lasagna for dinner – it was on my youngest wishlist for his week at home. Warms my heart that he misses my cooking!

Sunday family dinner

We decided to invite the family over for Sunday dinner so that everyone could see our youngest for a bit. Next time he’ll be back is for Xmas. It was so nice that everyone could make it – so the twelve of us shared a nice dinner and evening together. Some snacks and a drink to start with, then meat and potatoes with two sauces and salad for dinner. Apple cake with ice-cream and whipped cream for afters.

I only work for two days next week – then I have five days to spend with my boys before it is time for our youngest to head back to his school in Belgium. Going to enjoy those days to the fullest!

Family

My youngest brought me Belgium chocolates as a gift. He is so considerate! I will save them for tomorrow when we have guests here so they can try one too!

It was so nice to wake up this morning with the whole family under the same roof again for the first time in months. We had a nice lunch together – I made burgers – and then my husband and oldest went to the movies and my youngest went to buy a few things he needed while I was tidying up a bit at home. Tonight he is out with his best friends – they are in town somewhere to have dinner together. I hope they have a great time!

Finally!

Finally Friday and time to pick up our youngest at the airport in a couple of hours. It’s going to be great to have him back for a few days!

Today I treated my oldest to lunch. He had an exam that took all morning so it was perfect timing to meet up for lunch when he was finished. The restaurant had a halloween theme and all the staff was dressed up. With the fall break coming up next week I guess they expect a lot of tourists.

Have a great evening everyone!

Thai

Long busy day at the office and no husband home tonight. So, I decided not to cook dinner and stopped to pick up some thai food on the way home for me and my oldest. One Happy Basil with chicken and rice and one Fried Rice with shrimps. Yum. Perfect. Now I have crashed in my corner with a coffee, computer and my favorite show (taped from last night) on. No rain outside tonight .. might go into the spa later. All by myself.

Tomorrow night my youngest is back for a week. Can’t wait. I miss him terribly. But I am so very proud of him and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My oldest has another exam tomorrow. Important day.

Dental hygienist

Time for a visit to the dental hygienist. Not my favorite but it needs to be done. Every other year I go to the dentist and every other year to the hygienist. Today it was a new hygienist who took care of me and she had all sorts of new fancy machines to help her do her job. Not all to my liking… but my teeth feels squeaky clean now.

It’s been raining cats and dogs all day. No breaks what so ever. Can’t say it’s my favorite weather. Days like this I wish we had a fire place… and some time off work so I wouldn’t have to go outside. Making a really hearty meal for dinner – just what we need I think.

Evert

We have a long tradition of celebrating our family members on their names days – I’m sure you have seen all the Kristina / Karin / Sara – cakes we enjoy every summer. Today it is my fathers names day and it would also have been my grandfathers’ names day – Evert. Unfortunately we are not very good at celebrating our names days that occur when we are not in our paradise. So – happy names day – dear dad. I hope you have a good time in the Azores!

Breathe

It’s been one of those days. When I need to calm myself down and breathe. My appointment was unfortunately cancelled – it would have been perfect with a massage today but now I can look forward to one in two weeks instead. Took a long walk after work to clear my head and relax. The lake was so pretty – fall is arriving with all it’s glory. Need to start taking my long walks again but I haven’t had neither the time nor the energy lately. I have to start ticking things off before my list gets too long to handle. And get some positive energy into my system. A week on a beach in the sun would be nice. Can’t really see when though.

Roses..

Sunday and time to get busy with our garden to be ready before the winter arrives. After breakfast we went over to the garden center and picked out four rose bushes in different colors and quality. Let’s hope they will like it in our garden and be very pretty next year. Or however long it takes for them to settle in and bloom.

These roses I picked up on my way home from work Friday. Just because. And they were still so lovely yesterday that we went back and picked up some for my sister too to bring last night. I hope they will last a long time.
