.. days until it is our turn to join the rest of the family in our paradise. My sister and her family joined the others today. Soon we will be there too.
My replacement bracelet arrived today – they approved of my complaint and sent a new one. Yeah! So far so good. However, the new one didn’t work either… So, a new form of complaint filled out and another trip to the post office tomorrow. I am not happy. At all. Need to find another model but when this one works it is the best.
Selma
What a start of the week! Met up with dear friends in the park in front of the Clarion Hotel in Stockholm for a picnic to celebrate one of my friends 50th birthday. After a toast we went over to the hotel for an afternoon at Selma City Spa on the rooftop of the Clarion. We enjoyed a couple of hours chatting in the 33C heated pool overlooking Stockholm. And it was over 30C in the sun too. Lovely. I even got some tan!
After the spa we had made reservations at a Belgium restaurant where the birthday girl could enjoy moules frites (clam with fries). I chose a fish casserole which was delicious. An evening filled with great conversation, a lot of laughter and great food and company! Pretty hard to keep up the rest of the week in the same way.
Grandma’s birthday
When I grew up, July 9th was a day we always always spent in our paradise. Celebrating my grandmother on her birthday. My grandfather would raise the flag and we would have friends and family over for coffee and strawberry cake. She was able to be there every birthday since I was born except for the last couple of years in her life. She did celebrate her 90th birthday there – with family traveling from all over Sweden to greet her and honor her.
This photo was taken back in 2004, on her 92nd birthday. Me and the boys went to greet her in her apartment in Enskede. It was a happy day and I am so glad that I could see her and that the boys could come along. I brought my camera and could save some memories to look at and help me remember that day. It is amazing how some people really make a huge impact on your life. I miss you, grandma, and I am so grateful for having you in my life and sharing so much with you. Hope you are safe and able to enjoy today – where ever you are. Happy birthday! Big hug!
Recover time
Oh what a night. I have coughed my way through the night, gave up around 2 AM and took some cough medicine. It helped some and I could sleep until about 7 when it started again. So I got up to not wake up my husband.
I have the whole weekend to recover and get better. On Monday I have a fun afternoon planned at a SPA facility with a dear friend to celebrate her birthday. Can’t have a cold then so I need to get better right away. So, sofa-time for me this weekend stuffing myself with whatever medicine required to beat this bug.
All prepared
Now I have prepared everything I can to start taking down the office next week. Everything is either packed, placed somewhere else or thrown away. Puh. What a challenge. On Monday I have a date with the removal company who will start packing the furniture that we will put in storage until the office is ready for everything to be put back up again. Tuesday and Wednesday we will throw away the things we will not keep and move everything that we will keep to the storage place. I made a plan and so far it is working. Fingers crossed everything will fall into place next week too.
Got home – crashed in my corner – waited for the coffee to get ready. Got up, poured the coffee, added milk. And that feeling when you realize that the milk has gone bad and your coffee is filled with yellow/white blobs and completely ruined. Just do it again and go and get some new milk.. Have a great Friday everyone!
Errands
Either I am coming down with a cold but more likely I am allergic to dust and there is PLENTY of dust at my office right now. I have been forced to use my asthma spray the last couple of days and also nose spray for allergies and since it helps I assume I don’t have a cold. If I would have had a less busy day today I would have called in sick this morning, but since that is not an option right now it’s just to struggle on for the last couple of days until the project is done.
Tonight we went over to IKEA since IKEA Family had a special offer that we wanted to take advantage of. So, we bought a bath robe for our youngest along with slippers and also a basket full of slippers for our new SPA. And treated ourselves new bedlinen – I love their sheets with a mix of lyocell and cotton.
Kids gone
Accompanied the kids to the long-distance bus that would take them down to our paradise where their grandparents waited. A trip that takes about 7 hours – so a whole day on the bus. They arrived safely and after a swim in the ocean they enjoyed a nice dinner. Perfect.
On my way to work I passed these workers – working in pair, with safety ropes, safety net and an ambulance just in case.. Looked a bit over-the-top. But, better safe than sorry I guess.
Tonight we went out for dinner with my sister and brother-in-law and two other dear friends. We had a really nice evening! When the kids are gone..
Tuesday
It’s been raining pretty hard all night and this morning the dark clouds still covered the sky. But, it’s been quite nice weather all day. And no, I didn’t manage to sleep last night. Been up listening to the rain tossing and turning all night. Can’t wait for the time to come when I will be able to let go of all the thoughts and planning and just relax and regain some strength.
Today we received a welcome-letter from the school our youngest will attend as of August. Nice. They seem very organized and prepared so we have no worries or concerns in that regard. Can’t believe the time is almost here when he will hop on that flight…
Me-time
Monday again. Got in to the office a bit early in order to finish the things we were not able to complete before the weekend. After work I had an appointment with my naprapath – with all the stress I’ve had lately it was just what I needed. Let’s see if this results in a good night sleep or another one where I keep waking up.
I also went to get a vaccination shot for “TBE” (Tick Borne Encephalitis) – one of the diseases you can get from a tick-bite. The shots need to be re-newed every 5th year and I haven’t had one for 7. But, the nurse said it was still ok and I didn’t have to re-do the program from start. Puh.
Day to relax
Perfect with another day off – just what I needed. A day filled with errands in a slow pace – picked up the board we had ordered that we will bring down to our paradise, went to my parents to pick up / drop off things and tend to their house, went back to the building suppliers and returned a lamp I bought yesterday that didn’t work, went grocery shopping. Then fixed lunch and now I have been working in the back yard with my flowers (I love this purple allium) while my husband is working on the stone slabs to make it even enough. Picked up some roast beef that we will put on the grill for dinner and serve with some potato gratin / French fries. Mmm.
