The day has come – a very old traditional theme day (as a change to the new ones I have hardly heard of) – the national day of “semla”. It’s a bun filled with almond icing and whipped cream. Mmm.
The day “fettisdag” is connected to Christianity and always celebrated 47 days prior to Easter. It is a day when you are supposed to eat something rich and filling since it is the last day before the Easter fast starts. In France they celebrate this day under the name “Mardi Gras” (fat Tuesday).

Vi avnjöt kasslergryta med ris och fick en massa goda kakor till fikat.

New machine
We
decided to try a new thing in order to help the boys eat good breakfasts. So we have bought a bread machine. It has different programs for different things and can make both bread and dough (for pizza or rolls) but also jam and marmalade.
My youngest has prepared the first bread – we decided to try a white bread with garlic and cheese in it for dinner. Fingers crossed it will work! We might prepare another kind of of bread for tomorrow morning. The bread machine has a timer so you can prepare the bake before you go to bed and with some luck it will be ready by the time we need it for breakfast.

on the whole Eurovision Song Contest last year, the finale will be held here in Stockholm, Sweden this year. But, before that, we need to have our national Song Contest with the selection steps to elect our contribution to the ESC.
This year they have 8 hosts – Gina Dirawi, Petra Mede, Charlotte Perrelli, Henrik Schyffert, Sarah Dawn Finer, Ola Salo, Peter Jöback and William Spetz.
First city out is Göteborg and the contestants are;

Café
Friday treat. Chatted with my niece this morning and invited her to meet up for a coffee after wor
k / school. She came up to the office for a quick visit to say hello and then we walked over to a café called Café 60 on Sveavägen. It was a really nice little coffee shop with great coffee and goodies.
We had a chai latte which brought the thoughts back to Xmas. Must have been spiced with cloves or something.
It was very nice to spend some time together – we should do it more often!
Home made

e home made bread still warm from the oven. Lol. With the butter slowly melting. Mmmmm.
Crashed in my corner watching my new favorite show on tv – Undercover Boss. It makes me smile. So American.

Shrimp
It was way too long since I had one of these shrimp sandwiches so I decided to do something about that. Tried one o
n dark bread which was quite nice. The white bread ones sometimes get a bit soggy from the shrimps. I hate that. Soggy bread is just about the worst thing I know. Lol.
Picked up a bunch of groceries on my way home and decided to be a bit extra productive this afternoon so I baked some bread while the laundry machine worked its magic. Then I managed to get dinner on the table right in time for the troops to arrive. Oven baked pork flare flat (fläskytterfilé) with bulgur and roasted vegetables. Turned out pretty good. Served with newly baked sifted rye flour buns. Yum.

at the hospital for another treatment. Everything went well -fingers crossed it will work like it is supposed to. One good thing about spending the day this way is that it is a great opportunity to get some studying done… Subject of the day was civics – health / environment / world focus. I have learned a lot.
Maybe I will run myself a bath later. That sounds like a perfect ending on this day.

ps. My favorite flower. Especially at this time of year – when there are still no flowers in the garden to cheer me up. I love the spring – when the world comes back to live again. Another while to go – but finally January has come and gone and February has started.
Going to a handball game tonight with my parents – that is always fun! Can’t wait.
