A day to remember – a Swedish woman was awarded an Oscar for best supporting actress! Alicia Vikander was awarded an Oscar for her part in “The Danish girl”. I can’t wait to see the movie – and now I will definitely go and see it. Way to go! She is a very talented actress and I have loved her other movies.
Tonight me and my youngest have been through a three hour training to apply for an instructor permit so he can start practicing driving a car. So many steps to complete – a health test, an eyesight test, this training, fees to pay for the authorization and the permit. Puh. Soon we are ready to actually start driving. Lol.
Some really sad news today too. It was very tragic and sad to hear that Josefine Nilsson passed away. She was one of the singers in Ainbusk and their music has played a big part in my life. She was only 46 years old so it was definitely not her time to go.
The other upsetting news was that one of the Hammarby athletes is under investigation for doping. I don’t even know what to say about that. I am speechless.
More cake
After quite a busy Saturday we could enjoy a lazy Sunday. Just one machine with laundry and some baking today. I made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and fresh raspberries – it turned out really yummy! Served with a good vanilla ice-cream and some whipped cream. We had guests over for coffee – my youngest celebrated his birthday with his grandparents and great aunt who weren’t able to attend his celebrations on his birthday. So we had an excellent reason to have some more cake!
Next week my kids are off from school since it is winter break here in Sweden. I will work all week though but we have a couple of fun things planned.
Mello – 4
What a gorgeous day – the sun is shining from a clear blue sky. Need to make good use of it and gather as much vitamin D as possible and take a long walk.
It is time for the last qualification round – this weekend it takes place in Gävle. And we will watch it together with my sister w/ family at our place. The winter break started today and our other friends are enjoying it in their cabin. Next weekend we will be even fewer – then 5 more of us are away skiing so then we are down to just me, my oldest and my sister – and her oldest when she gets back from her ski-trip. But hopefully we will be together all of us again the weekend after that when it is time for the grand finale! The contestants tonight are:
- Martin Stenmarck
- Panetoz
- Frans
- Linda Bengtzing
- Dolly Style
- Eclipse
- Molly Sandén
Straight to the finale: Molly Sandén and Frans
Second chance: Dolly Style and Panetoz
Friday !
Friday again. Quite a good day – took a walk to the subway this morning and it felt great to get the extra steps in already before work. Had to deliver a few things at work so that gave me some steps too. I have actually done really well on the step-department this week. Managed to reach my 10.000 steps per day goal all week. Yeah!
They had started to sell Easter decorations today – one month before Easter. Looked really pretty in the sunshine with all the bright colored feathers. Soon soon we will all be down in our paradise together enjoying Easter. Can’t wait.
Special day
My little one turned 16 today. I can’t believe it. I remember the night he came to us like it was yesterday. How I love my boys. Can’t imagine life without them. I hope I never will.
We celebrated his birthday tonight with my parents and sister w/ family and then we will have another celebration with his other grandparents on Sunday so a lot of cake to enjoy the next couple of days. Today we had his favorite – a traditional Swedish princess cake with the green marzipan cover. It was delicious.
Happy birthday, son! Love you tons!
Lovely day
We had an early start today – the alarm went off before 5.. Our youngest was going on a ski-trip with school over the day and needed a ride to school since he had his snowboard and gear with him.
Weather-wise they couldn’t have picked a better day. The sun has been shining all day from a clear blue sky. I decided to take a long walk after work and ended up having lunch in Gamla Stan.
Now time to get the house ready for the party tomorrow night!
Tuesday
My back has not been cooperating today. I don’t know what happened – hopefully it will correct itself tonight when I’m asleep.. Well, one can hope. I have to wait another week before it is time for my next appointment. I don’t want to bring it forward – I want to spread the appointments over the year so they last as long as possible. And I know that I am always extra tired and sore at the end of the year, and then it is nice to be able to still have a few left.
Therapy
I took my youngest to a doctors appointment today and it took forever before we were done. The doctor was almost an hour late to begin with and after the appointment he wanted us to go and draw some blood for tests. Better to get it done right away rather than come back another day and take more time off from school and work, so we fixed that too before we left.
Since I finish my work at 1 PM on Mondays I took my last hour off (no point in going in for just one hour – just the travel back and forward takes me longer than that). I had a quiet afternoon at home getting a lot of laundry done.
I also spent some time with my new therapy – the mindfulness drawings. It is quite fun but I think I need new glasses.. lol
Left over breakfast
Yesterday when I woke up I longed for American pancakes and there were some left to enjoy today (mmmm great). Should probably have put some powder sugar on them too. Maybe next time. I have a real soft spot for maple syrup and it doesn’t really go with any Swedish food. But it is a perfect match with these thick tiny pancakes.
Tonight I have been to another handball game. Hammarby was facing Malmö and managed to tie 24-24. It would have been a lot better if they would have won – Hammarby is falling a bit behind in the series.
Oh – some really good new today – our Swedish girls managed to get an Olympic gold medal in ice hockey in the Youth Olympic Games that takes place in Lillehammer, Norway, right now. Our future players!
