The ultimate luxury for me is time to myself and to pa
mper myself with some sort of treatment. A friend of mine recommended a little spa close to where I work that offers pedicure among other things. 60 min of pure joy.
A nice soak of my tired feet after all this walking the past months. Then a pedicure. Then a scrub. Then massage. And finished it off with a nail polish – color of my choice. And all this while comfortably seated in a massage chair that took care of my back. Now my feet feel like new again – gorgeously soft and with a lovely scent. My back, however, could really use a visit to my naprapath.. I hope I can make an appointment soon.
Almost..
Weekend is coming closer. This has been a long week. Lol.
When we were in church in Palma they played a Taizé-hymn that we used to sing in the choir. Brought back lots of nice memories so I dug out my old sheet music and played some of my favorite ones. The Taizé-music is very meditative and good for the soul.
Booked myself a treat for tomorrow.. pedicure after work.. can’t wait!
1000m
Fall has arrived to Sweden. It was 3C this morning and it’s been raining off and on. Brrrrr. What a difference to Majorca!
No walk home due to the rain but while my youngest was at his gymnastics practice I did good and went swimming. 1000 m. Yeah! Took me 40 minutes. Then the pool got a bit too crowded and when I had been kicked 4 tim
es I gave up. Lol. I know – quitter – right. I enjoyed some time in the sauna before it was time to pick up my son again.
My mom gave me these lovely little pumpkins – and I added a flower to the plate and created a fall decoration. I am pleased with the result!
Treat
I have not been so tired at work in a long long time. Didn’t hit
the pillow until 1 am this morning and a little less than 5 hrs is definitely not enough sleep for me. But, it was worth it!
The partners of the firm treated us a lovely gift to enjoy at work – a huge 7kg pata negra – the best ham money can buy. I hope it will last for a long time!
City tour
Monday – our last day in Majorca. We were picked up by a tour guide for a stroll around the city.
We went to see the amazing cathedral and the story behind it was quite fascinating.
Then we saw the statue of Junipero Sierra – a Majorcan friar who founded the first 9 of 21 Spanish missions from San Diego to San Francisco. I wonder if my Californian family have heard of him.
We ended the city tour at a lovely coffee shop in an alley hidden from the tourists and had a fantastic Spanish pastry filled with a bitter chocolate.
In the afternoon we had to go back to the airport and I thank Majorca for a lovely visit. It was just about the best trip ever with my company and I am so thankful and happy for being part of it.
Sunday mass
Sunday we went to the 12 o’clock mass. It was really
fascinating. Even though I don’t speak Spanish I was able to follow the ceremony quite well. It was very short, less than 40 min, so we stayed during the whole thing.
After a nice lunch in the harbor we went on a lovely trip on a catamaran. It was just a perfect afternoon.
We anchored after a while and was able to go for a swim from the boat – the water was amazing!
Then it was time to go back to the city while the sun set.
Another perfect day!
Hike
Saturday morning we all got up fairly early and had a great breakfast. Then we divided into two groups – one went hiking and one went biking. Guess which group I was.. lol
The mountain was quite a challenge for our group so we took the local bus up the first and hardest part of the t
rip. Then we enjoyed 2x3k hikes in fairly challenging terrain. Each part took almost an hour to complete. But, it was beautiful and a lot of fun.
After lunch a bus took us down to Palma and a new hotel. This time with an ocean view from the 8th floor.
In the evening we had the best tapas dinner to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a company. One gorgeous dish after another until we were so full we couldn’t eat any more.
Spanish food at its best.
Soller
The alarmclock woke me up at 03:45 and 20 min later the cab picked me up. After a long day with change of flights and delays we have now arrived in beautiful Majorca and checked in at a fancy hotel in the village Soller up in the mountains. Let the fun begin.
Soller is an amazing little town village and I would lo
ve to return one day with my family.
We took the local train down to the harbor – Port Soller – for dinner. The train ride made the trip very memorable riding through the landscape and all the orange- and lemon trees.
Web
Fall has really arrived with chilly mornings and it is very m
isty. The cobwebs are pieces of art – and extra beautiful when they are filled with tiny drops of water in the morning dew.
Fortunately we don’t have any dangerous spiders in our country. One of the most poisonous one is a European garden spider (korsspindel) – with the characteristic cross on its back. But it is still not even as poisonous as a wasp.
Tomorrow I am going to Mallorca with my work. I have no idea how much I will be able to update this page during the trip, but hopefully I can post a pic or two and then update with text later. My alarm clock is set to 03:45..
McD..
Home after working a short day today. Very busy though and productive!
Decided to have lunch in the city before I went home – and my choice fell on a pasta – pesto – chicken salad at McD. They are actually quite good. Enjoyed together with a sparkling water – no lemon – still no sodas for me! Yeah!
Since I had to stop for groceries I didn’t walk home. And since I accompanied my son this morning I didn’t walk then either. BUT – tonight I am taking my youngest to his gym practice and while he is busy with that I will go swimming. Fingers crossed the pool won’t be too crowded. Maybe I can swim even longer than the 500m I try to do as a minimum.
