Long day at the office today so we decided to go out for lunch to get a break. Our favorite restaurant served plaice (rödspätta) with a shellfish risoni, crayfish, timut-pepper, ginger and peas. It was ok but not as high standard as their food usually is. But, a very nice lunch!
Did a lot of good today but it got kind of slow in the afternoon. But, I managed to complete the day and tomorrow is a half-day since Thursday is Ascension day. We have a tradition at work to serve “half-day-sandwiches” these days. Nice!
Finished off some leftovers tonight, still lots of dishes to chose from. I made myself a sausage-mushroom-corn-dish. Mmm. M chose the chicken with pasta. F chose the wok. P is in a meeting so he can make his choice when that is finished. My money is on beef with gratin..
Slowly
Monday again. Can’t believe it’s been a whole week since I tested positive. Last week was not great and I’m glad it’s behind us now. I decided to go to work today since I am feeling better and I’m no longer contagious.
Good to start with a short day – and this is also a short week due to the national holiday on Thursday. We have taken Friday off too – so a lovely long weekend awaits.
Working was fine but a bit of a challenge to be able to focus and concentrate. But, I’m ok and I’ll get back to normal soon enough. Now I’m very tired and glad to have the corner to rest in this afternoon. And I’m going to cheer on our team from here tonight – even though I would have loved to join my father at the soccer game tonight, but I’m glad he found another companion to see the game.
PS! We won 1-0! Good. Three points in the bag! And our worst opponent only got one point tonight since they played 1-1. Yeah!
Castle of the month – Rosendal on Mother’s day
Happy Mother’s Day, all amazing mothers out there. In Sweden, we celebrate you all today (other parts of the world celebrate this day another time). As Wikipedia says: “Mother’s Day in Sweden is celebrated on the last Sunday in May. A later date was chosen to allow everyone to go outside and pick flowers.” Great reason, I think!
Our youngest left for work at 06.30 already this morning, so I haven’t seen him yet. My hubby bought me these lovely flowers yesterday, as a gift from him and our sons for me on this day. Thank you, I love them!
We decided to go for a ride and to get me out of the house for the first time in a week. A test to see if I’m up for work tomorrow or not. The answer is – maybe. Not sure. It was quite exhausting but nice to see something else.
We visited Rosendals Slott and trädgård on Djurgården. It was built between 1823 and 1827 for Karl den 14e Johan, the first Bernadotte king of Sweden, and intended as an escape from the Royal Palace. The palace was the home for Prince Carl Philip and his wife during 2015-2017 while their home was being renovated.
The Rosendals Trädgård was a bit too crowded and the lunch line was way too long for us so we walked back towards the car (we had parked by the museums on Gärdet) and had a nice lunch at the Museum of Ethnograph. We also looked at their exhibitions “Yokai – Spirits of Japan” and “Viva Mexico”. A very nice Mother’s Day!
And a bronze for our pride and joy! We were hoping for more since it’s a tournament played in Stockholm, but third place is good.
Semi
Feeling slightly better but still a bit wobbly. My tummy has been bothering me the last couple of days too, hopefully it will be all better by Monday.
We had great hope in our pride and joy but today we lost towards the US in the semi finals. We were down 0-4 in the end of the second period, managed to make 2 quick goals in the beginning of the third but then they scored another couple of goals and won fair and square. Oh well. Bronze game for us tomorrow – towards either Switzerland or Denmark.
Have been sowing on my new project this week and today I finished the pillow. Turned out pretty good! I’m happy. And glad to get into doing needlework again too. Haven’t done that in ages.
Our youngest is working all weekend. One more weekend duty to go, then he ends this job on June 5th. Fingers crossed he will get accepted to the school he has applied to. That would be great.
28
A rainy start of the day but still time to raise the flag since it is our oldest son’s birthday today. Happy birthday, son! Love you to the moon and back.
I am so glad we have postponed the celebrations with the rest of the family. I’m still not feeling better – have moments that feels like things are heading the right direction but the next moment I’m back to feeling sick again. Headaches that come and go, flu feeling, cough, sneezing, aching body, dizziness. Brrr. Feeling like I have a fever, but I don’t. Maybe we should have taken a new covid-shot, it’s been almost 2 years since our last one. What a week. So far the others are not infected, I pray it will stay that way and that I’m ok for work on Monday. The way I feel right now, I still have some time before that will happen.
Quarter
A very slow week spent in my corner trying to get better from my flu. Still feeling all sorts of things every day – today started with headache, a cold, slight back pain (or kidney related), flu-feeling in the body. No appetite. But, still have flavor and smell intact so that’s great.
Tonight our pride and joy are playing in the quarter final facing last years world champions – Czech Republic. Tricky. As we speak Finland is loosing their quarter towards the US and Switzerland has easily beaten Austria in their. The last quarter is between Canada and Denmark.
But first I’m going to cheer on our team in soccer – I am kind of glad we didn’t get tickets for tonight. Mainly because I’m sick but also because it is about as miserable weather as it was last week on our last game. +6C and rain. Brrr. We have tickets for Monday night and then I’m hoping to be able to go and also better warmer weather.
PS! Loss in the soccer game.. 1-2.. bummer.
BUT – we won the quarter and are facing the US in the semi. Switzerland will be facing…. DENMARK !!!! Amazing.
Winner Svenska Cupen!
Managed to sleep in for a bit today which was great. I have tried to relax and get better, but not doing great at the moment. Covid is no fun. I hope my family stays clear. Decided to not have people over on Friday and also to remain on sick-leave for the rest of the week. Haven’t had a sick-day in quite a while so I guess it’s my turn.
I’ve been working on my new pillow-case while watching Netflix series. Feeling a bit out of breath so house work is not for me right now. Perfect to do some needlework and this satin stitch is really quick to do.
Both the games last night were a loss, bummer. But tonights finale in the Svenska Cupen was a victory for our ladies! 2-0 towards Norrköping. Playing at the big 3Arena with a big audience. They are showing the game on tv so we were able to watch it! Congratulations, ladies!
Recover
Slept ok last night considering but still have a slight fever, cough, ache in my back and a cold. Sneezing a lot.
Will spend the day in my corner relaxing. It’s really nice and sunny outside but I’m staying inside. Enjoyed the last leftovers of the liver stew I made. Yum.
Tonight our team are playing the third game in the final round of the handball championships. So far 1-1 – first to 3 wins. Also, our pride and joy are playing the last game in the group play in ice hockey. This time facing Canada. If we get at least one point we win the group and will get an easier opponent in the quarter final. Fingers crossed.
Sick-day
Woke up with a feeling of flue this morning so I decided to stay home. Slight fever, cough, sore back. Took a covid test and it was positive, so I guess it was a good decision to not leave the house. So, no work for me the next couple of days. Just rest, drink plenty of water and get the bug out of the system.
Fingers crossed I will feel much better in a day or two and that my family will not get sick too. Or anyone else that I’ve met over the weekend. Hopefully we can go ahead with our plans to celebrate our son on his birthday, otherwise we have to postpone the celebrations for a bit. I’ll let you know what we decide.
A very nice sunny warm day for a change! Lovely. I have not been outside other than to get the mail though. The prognosis says it will continue for a day or two but then it will be much colder again.
Derby
Derby-Sunday with our team facing AIK at their arena, which is our national arena and the largest one in Sweden. 47.700 people in the audience – very impressive.
We managed to defend our goal and keep our 0 but we didn’t manage to make any goals so an even 0-0 was the result. Bummer. But, I am so glad for the kept goal-less game which gave me a lot of points in the Fantasy-team.
A very tired day today since we got home late and then I wasn’t able to sleep very well. Felt a bit like I’m coming down with a cold or something, but it can also just be me being overly tired and a large amount of pollen in the air. No rain today and a sunny start, but now it is quite windy and grey. Made a liver-stew for dinner – packed with vitamins and energy. Hopefully it will be just what I need.
