Vilhelmina

Today it is my grandmothers name day. Her first name was Mary but she was also called Vilhelmina Kristina. I remember her with great affection and a big smile!

imageTonight when I came back home after a long day at work I enjoyed a big plate of the yummy lasagna I cooked yesterday. I was really hungry so it was a perfect dinner!

Today it’s been all kinds of weather – can’t believe May is almost over since it is so chilly outside still. I’m not ready to leave my stockings at home just yet..

Morning walk

Monday again and it started out great with sunshine so I decided to walk to the subway. This pic was taken last spring but it kind of looked like this today too. wpid-img_20140627_075042.jpg

Unfortunately the great weather didn’t last very long and now it is raining again. Since I had a short day at work I have spent the afternoon doing good things for my family – the lasagna is just finished  and the home made burgers will be served when everyone is home. One set of laundry done and hung up in the airing cupboard. Now some corner-time for me catching up on the e-mails and friends.

Whit Sunday

Finally some sunshine and nice weather! This Whit Sunday we started with attimageending morning service in church because our teenagers received their youth leader diplomas. 32 teenagers had completed the education which started last year. A great experience and good education to have.

No more obligations today other than wash up all the dishes from last night and get the house back in order again. It was such a great evening. With my oldest turning 18 and our friends having their wedding anniversary we had plenty of reasons to celebrate already. Måns winning was just the icing of the cake! Even the priest in church this morning quoted his lyrics in the winning song – and made it part of his sermon.

“I make worms turn into butterflies
Wake up and turn this world around
In appreciation

He said I never left your side
When you were lost I followed right behind
Was your foundation”

Big day

A very special day. Both for me and for my oldest son – my first imageborn child turns 18 years old today. Wow. I am so thankful for my boys and they are really my pride and joy in life.

This morning I was going through our old photo albums for a minute of reflection. Special memories kept in books. Today a couple of more will be added – his grandparents and auntie w/ family are coming over in a couple of hours to celebrate him properly. We’ll be having his favorite – “kladdkaka” (Swedish brownie – like a mudcake) with the coffee.

Dear son – I wish you all the best in life! Enjoy it. Be safe. Be curious and explore the world. And always know I’m right here – just let me know if you need me!

Conscience

Twpid-img_20140709_144651.jpghe more I try to help my boys gain weight – the more I put on myself.. and now it is Friday again.. with all the treats and goodies that comes with it.. God, give me strength to resist.

And a weekend ahead with my oldest turning 18, ESC finale and my youngest getting his diploma as a youth leader… Please let the scale be my friend on Monday morning and not laugh at me.

Focus

Midweek again. Time to focus and prepare. Get ready for the last part of this week with a lot of things going on. Important things. wpid-img_20141008_135555.jpg

The first half of the day actually gave us some sunny weather for a change to all this rain. Still a bit too chilly for my taste but definitely an improvement from yesterday.

Fingers crossed the warm sunny weather is coming soon!

The Royal Opera

There is a first time for everything and today it was my first time timageo see a whole opera. We were given the opportunity to get really inexpensive tickets in the parquet to see “La traviata” with music by Verdi. The story is based on “Lady of the Camelias” by Alexandr Dumas the younger.  This was a more modern version that took place in the world as it is today and instead of 3 parts it was 2 parts.

The opera was performed in Italian with Swedish surtitles to guide the audience through. Both my husband and I struggled a bit to follow the story and to be honest neither of us were planning on what to see next time before we left.. Lol. But, it was a great experience and the opera singers where amazing. I am sure I will go and see another opera but next time I will chose one that I am more familiar with.

The Royal Opera in Sweden was founded by Gustav III and is the national stage for opera and ballet and it has been since January 18, 1773 when the first performance was given. The building was replaced by a new building about 100 years later on orders given by king Oscar II since the old one was in such a bad shape.

New week

Unbelievable, but it is still raining outside and quiteimage chilly. Good for the garden and all the flowers – but I would like to be able to sit outside and enjoy the sun.

A very busy week ahead with a ton of things that have to work in order to get everything done. Fingers crossed things will go smoothly and no bumps on the road.
