Hockey-time

Finally time for some hockey-fun! Sweden plays our first game tomorrow towards Austria. We also have Czech, UK, Finland, USA and Norway in our group. And this year the tournament is played in Finland which means hardly any time difference to relate to.

Tonight we are having a movie night with the boys again – watching the new Marvel-movie “Black Widow”. Nice to spend some time together enjoying something we all like. Make sure to appreciate what you have and cherish the moments you get together.

And a great number of great achievements and 4th places for instance ice hockey (men), skicross (Erik Mobärg), 30 k cross country (Jonna Sundling), cross country skiing (men) 4×10 km and team sprint and biathlon (men) 4×6 km. Not to mention all the 5th places.

Congratulations to a great game in difficult times with covid19, lockdowns, restrictions, not having family around etc. And the weather conditions in China has also been very challenging with a lot of last minute changes due to wind, cold or covid.

Mixed feelings

Bronze for the ladies (team Hasselborg). Gold for the men (team Edin). In curling. Yeah!

But, our pride and joy didn’t have any energy left from the intense game yesterday and lost the bronze game. Oh well.

Spent the entire day at the office helping out with some things here and there. Mostly support though and being there in case they needed me. Tomorrow I will be available online and via my mobile but hopefully I will not have to go in. One step closer to completing our it-project. Fingers crossed it will work as planned on Monday.

Almost..

Recorded the hockey game this afternoon since I had to work so I could watch it when I got back home. Semi finals towards Russia. 1-1 after full time. 1-1 after 10 extra minutes. Shootouts. Still no winner after 5 attempts each. Then one shoot at a time. And it took 3 extra shoots from each team before Russia managed to score a goal and won. Bummer. So, bronze game tomorrow for our pride and joy. Towards Slovakia. Fingers crossed.

We did manage to land another medal today though – Martin Ponsiluoma came in second in the 15k mass start biathlon today. Yeah!

This weekend we have a lot of work planned at the office so I will go in tomorrow morning. With some luck we’ll get everything done in one day. Otherwise I will spend Sunday there too.

A day filled with medals

New medals today – a bronze in slope-style to Jesper Tjäder. Yeah!

A gold in the Biathlon 4x6k for women (Persson/Brorsson/Öberg/E. Öberg). Yeah!

And a silver in women’s Teamsprint (Dahlqvist/Sundling). Yeah!

After work I went over to my parents for a nice chat and a coffee (and a treat!). Quality time! And also to watch our pride and joy Tre Kronor win over Canada 2-0 in the ice hockey quarter final. Yeah!

Semi final awaits towards the Russian team. The game is played on Friday afternoon – need to record it so I can watch it when I get back from work. Finland will be facing Slovakia. Three teams out of four from our group reached the semi finals. Tough group!

TV Sunday

Yesterday we managed to achieve a new olympic medal – a bronze in the women’s 4×5 km cross country skiing.

The men didn’t manage to replicate the ladies achievement but ended up in 4th place in the 4×10 km skiing. So great race but no medal.

Biathlon hunting start events today – ladies 10k and mens 12,5k – and Elvira Öberg managed to land another medal for Sweden. Another silver. Her second. The men didn’t have a good day – no medals today.

Our hockeyteam managed to loose a 3-0 win to a 4-3 loss on overtime towards Finland. Hmm. So close. But, it will still be enough to go thru to the quarter finals being the best second place in total and no need for a qualification round with 8th finals. Russia is also in the quarters. Last group remains to be played.

Celebrations!

What a Friday! One silver in the women’s biathlon 7,5k run – the youngest of the two Öberg-sisters (Elvira) did great with a perfect shooting score. And one gold in the men’s 10k skating with a new world record – Nils van den Poel did it again! Yeah!

Today it is my mother-in-laws birthday and she has invited a few friends and family to a dinner-party at a restaurant in town by the water. Also they are celebrating 60 years of marriage this year so extra cause for celebration!

So nice to go out for a change and hopefully it will be safe for everyone to participate. The restrictions are gone and we are allowed to slowly go back to some sort of normal life again. We had a lovely time with great food and entertainment and it was a very nice evening. She got a lot of presents and I think she had a good day.

Happy birthday! Thank you so much for a lovely evening!

Fifth day – one more medal

Another day filled with sports and first medal of the day went to Henrik Harlaut with a bronze in Big Air. Yeah! Go Henrik! (photo TV4)

Short day today so I was able to relax a bit after work and watch our Swedish men’s team play curling towards China. We won!

A very windy day – the clouds move in high speed across the sky. Quite sunny, no snow left (hardly) and a few degrees above 0C. Winter seems far away again. Longing for spring.

Fourth day – three more medals

What a day – three more medals to Sweden and we are once again back in the top of the medal-league. Yeah!

Started the day with a bronze for our mixed curling-team. Then our ladies Sundling and Dahlqvist won both gold and silver in the cross-country freestyle sprint. Yeah!

More great news – our figure skater Majorov managed to go thru to the finals and also our ice hockey ladies won their last two games and therefore qualified for the quarter finals. Yeah!

Puh. What a day. Now we are going to enjoy our spa for a bit. Niiiccee!

Third day – third gold

New week and a great start! The gigant slalom event was postponed some which gave me a chance to watch it before work. Yeah! And Sara won! Our third gold so far.

Busy day with a lot to do. After work me and my oldest went to the local hairdresser for a well over-due haircut. When we arrived back home I was able to watch our Swedish ladies win their first hockey game in this tournament. If we win tomorrow too we are thru to the quarter finals. Fingers crossed.

Made burgers with boiled potatoes and brown sauce for dinner. Mmm. Served with panfried onions, pickled cucumbers, lingonberry jam and veggies. Not bad for a Monday dinner.
