Gott Nytt År!

Another year has come to an end. The second one in the pandemic times. One more year working from home with the exception of Oct-Nov when we were allowed back to the real world again.

We decided to celebrate the new year in our house with just us four and my parents to keep it as safe as we could. I had prepared a starter – a bleak roe toast for the seniors and garlic bread for the juniors – followed by a traditional new years dinner with tenderloin beef served with potatoes gratin, whiskey sauce and veggies. My mom had prepared the desserts –  a selection of raspberry mousse, chocolate mousse or chocolate pudding served with fresh raspberries. Yum! Also a very nice bottle of red to go with the dinner.

We had a very nice evening with great food, company and a nice glas of bubbly to celebrate the New Year at midnight. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos – but I did take a picture of the table before our guests arrived.

Happy New Year! May 2022 bring an end to the pandemic and may our family and friends stay healthy and able to go back to our usual lives again seeing each other and travel.

Visit in town

Thursday already and time for our youngest to have his surgical clips removed. The clinic is situated inside the city and I came along this time to see how to drive there and where to park in case I have to drive there some time. We enjoyed a “fika” at Chokladfabriken while we waited. It is raining today and not very nice to go for a walk but we did stop and enjoyed the view for a minute from Fjällgatan.

This afternoon we have taken away the Xmas-tree before it starts to drop all the decorations. It didn’t last very long this year – wonder why. Anyway, we packed away all the elves and decorations too. We will keep the window lights and stars for a while longer along with the table cloths and curtains.

The Junior World Championships tournament in Ice-hockey was cancelled. Too many teams suffered from covid and too many games had to be cancelled. So, they didn’t really have a choice but to close the event down, I guess. Sad.

Lazy day

A long lazy day. Haven’t done much besides spent time in my corner watching stuff on TV. Probably just what I needed.

I have done some laundry, made lunch and dinner and sorted some stuff out from the kitchen cabinet. So, I haven’t been a complete bum.

Hopefully more ice hockey tonight to record and enjoy tomorrow morning. I heard the American team suffered from a few cases of covid so maybe tonights game will be cancelled. Both US and Czechia have been forced to walkover due to covid in their teams and their opponents have been granted the victory. Sad outcome.

Ice hockey and a pot

A nice start of the second day off from work. Another hockey-game to enjoy and another win. Towards Slovakia this time.

After lunch we drove over to Kungens Kurva to pick up a few things the grocery store yesterday didn’t have.

Also, we went to Cervera and I bought myself the pot I have wanted for a long time. They are on sale right now (35% off) and I chose the Signature 4.2L, 24 cm wide – a red one (or cerise as they call the color).

They didn’t have that many colors left to chose from and the red one felt like a classic Le Creuset pot. I also bought a set of ovenware for gratin and veggies to go with – also on sale for a great price (40% off). So, I’m happy. Something new with a lifetime guarantee. Not bad.

Day off

Monday and we have taken some time off from work. First day off.

Started the day watching the first Swedish game in the Junior World Championships in icehockey. The tournament takes place in Canada (bummer) so the time difference is not in our favor. So, I will record the games and watch them afterwards. We won the first game (facing Russia) – so far so good.

After lunch me and my hubby took an hour walk and when we got back home we went to get some groceries. Now we have enjoyed a nice sirloin steak dinner and some corner time awaits.

My mother gave me this pretty flower decoration for Xmas. She makes them every year and we love them. Thank you!

Annandag jul

Third day of Xmas – Boxing day. We slept in a bit this morning. After lunch we took a nice 3k walk. Nice to get some steps in and some fresh air.

This afternoon we went over to my parents-in-law for the Boxing-day-dinner. This year she had made reindeer served with oven baked veggies. A very nice dish!

A very nice evening and ending of a love Xmas. Now some corner-time watching the first episode of the series “The Lost Symbol” before it is time to hug the pillow.

Juldagen

Christmas Day. We relaxed and had a slow morning enjoying our day off and watched a new “Beck”-movie on TV. After a left-overs-lunch (yum) we took a nice walk around the block in the sunny but cold weather (-9C).

About 3k later we arrived back home and got ready to go over to my parents for an afternoon coffee. My mom had prepared all sorts of goodies and we were spoiled with both blueberry Swiss role and saffron buns. No traditional beef roulad-dinner this year – we save that for another time when my sis w/ family can come too. Maybe next week?!

Picked up some pizza for dinner and now we will see my sis w/ family for some online games. Fun!

Christmas Eve

A white Xmas this year. It had been snowing tonight so we woke up to a winter wonderland this morning. Not a lot of snow but enough to get that Xmas-feeling.

A busy day getting everything organized for our guests. My nieces came over and exchanged bags with presents – so we could see them for a minute. Lovely! Hopefully my sister will feel better soon so we can meet up during the holidays.

We have enjoyed a really nice Xmas with my parents and my parents-in-law. All pitched in for the “smörgåsbord” and everything was delicious – as always. Thank you for everything – all the food, great company, all the lovely presents and for coming over and making this day a special one. Merry Xmas!

Last day

Last day of work before the holidays and some vacation on top of that. Another long day and very busy but I have gotten a lot done this week and it feels good to go on a break with that in my back.

Time to sort the last bits and pieces and get ready to celebrate Xmas tomorrow. Crashed in my corner for a bit and came across the old classic “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”. Lol. Haven’t seen that one in years.

Merry Xmas everyone! And quick recovery – sis! Love you!

Sad news

A very very busy day but I got a lot done which was great.

Sad news – my sister is sick (not with covid – just regular flu) but her family will not join us for Xmas. I will miss them dearly. Found this Xmas sweater which might be a good choice for her?! I pray for a quick recovery for her and that the rest of her family are able to stay away from whatever bug that she has caught.

Made the Xmas-ham tonight and we enjoyed the first slices for dinner.  Yum! After dinner we went to get some groceries – and the store wasn’t at all crowded. Big surprise. When we got back home we sat in our spa for a bit and now after some tea and crackers we will hug the pillow.
