Indoor

A long day at work and the weather has been so and so all day. Grey, cloudy, raining and some sun in between. No need to water my plants tonight.

My saintpaulia is in bloom right now and it is so pretty! It is decorating our bedroom window. My grandmother used to have them all over in all sorts of colors. I believe my sister still has one of them after all these years (it’s been 15 years since she left us). My mom might still have one too.

Thunder and lightning

Last night it was a terrible rainfall with thunder and lightning. Someone wrote on FB that it fell 14mm rain in a few hours, which is a lot. This kind of thunder isn’t so common here in Stockholm – more so in our paradise.

Started my morning with my physio training. On Wednesday I have the next follow up session booked. We’ll see what he says about my progress.

After work I gave my youngest a lift to his appointment and I could enjoy some me-time while I waited. I had time for a latte at the café which was a nice treat.

Cloudy but warm

This morning we went grocery shopping right after breakfast. It is so difficult to find inspiration what to buy after so many months at home. We are trying to eat good food and treat us a bit so the boys will get what they need. So, tonight we had bbq pork filet with oven baked early potatoes served with asparagus, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Yum.

It has been another warm humid day and it is almost not bearable to be either outdoors or indoors with around 30C on both places. Tonight it is a bit cooler outdoors so it was nice to have dinner outside.

Day in the sun

This morning we packed the car and went out to our second paradise for a visit together with my parents. My father-in-law picked us up in their boat and my mother-in-law had prepared scones and coffee as a lovely treat by the water.

Unfortunately there was a lot of algae or pollen in the water so we skipped a dip in the ocean and postponed our premier dip for a bit.

In the afternoon we moved up to the house and had a lovely lunch outside. A perfect day in the sun together – all eight of us. Thank you for a great relaxing day!

Speziale

Another very warm day but I had a short day and finished already around noon. We ate whatever leftovers were in the fridge for lunch and then I finished making the elder flower cordial and bottled it.

My oldest son had a package to pick up – for some reason they delivered it to a store in Älvsjö (not his choice) so we went there to get it and also picked up a few things for tomorrow.

Tonight we were lazy and went to get pizza for dinner. I chose a Calzone Speziale which was filled with ham, shrimps and mushrooms. Yum.

Colors

Our roses outside our bathroom window have started to bloom – except the two that was really tasty and got eaten by the roe deers. Lol. But, these three survived and they are really pretty. With some luck the other two will grow new buds and start to bloom too.

I made pasta bolognese for lunch and we bbq meat for dinner. It is so hot outside we decided to have lunch in the kitchen but by the time for dinner it was close to 30C in the kitchen so we sat outside instead. I wonder how long this heatwave is going to last. The nights are terrible. Would love to have an air conditioner like the boys have upstairs – we have a ceiling fan and it helps a lot but it is not the same thing.

Birthday

Happy birthday, dear sis! We were invited for evening coffee and a super yummy cake tonight together with our parents. We also celebrated my brother-in-law who has his birthday next week. Happy birthday to you too a bit in advance.

We gave them a cover for their new lounge set – I hope it will fit and that it was an ok choice. It was kind of hard to find sizes to choose from.

I worked a full day today but squeezed in my second physio around lunch. They have more limited opening hours now in the summer so I have to adjust a bit. And the opening hours are different from week to week so I have to check before I go there if they are open. Oh well.

Roses

A long day at work and summer is here. Our living room is about 35C and I am miserable. Longing for the air-conditioned office. But, it is still not save to commute so we’ll be working from home for a while longer.

My sister gave me these pretty roses when they came over for dinner on midsummer eve. They were so very pretty but now they are nodding a bit in the warm room.

Cordial

What a busy start of the week. After breakfast I did my first physio session (I do two per week). Then worked my hours. After lunch I went to get some lemons and caster sugar and then I picked elder tree flowers and made a cordial – it will be ready in 3-5 days.

My oldest wanted to go for a walk in the forrest so I went along and this time we chose the yellow trail – Gulsparven – which is 5 k. With the distance back and forward to the forrest we walked 6.4k which took us 1 hr 45 min in the difficult terrain.

Almost 19.000 steps later I am exhausted. Crashed in my corner quite happy about my busy day.

Blåeld

Our paradise is filled with this flower – blåeld – blue-weed or Viper’s-bugloss. They are usually blue but some come in a pink / purple color too. And now these lovely flowers are growing in front of our entrance. As a small reminder of our paradise. Love it!

Last day of our long weekend and another sunny day. We have been working outside most of the day – my husband has replaced the barge boards on one side of our garage and I have been painting the metal sheets that go on top. Need to pain one more coat before we can put them back up and then we are half way done and ready to do the other side of our garage.
