Father’s day

Sunday and Father’s Day in Sweden. We bought a cake to celebrate – unfortunately my parents-in-law wasn’t able to join us but my parents and sis w/ family met up for coffee. A nice afternoon with a table filled with goodies.

My husband has put on the winter tires on our car today and it has been snowing more or less all day. But it isn’t that cold so the snow is melting as soon as it hits the ground so no winter-wonderland just yet.

Happy Father’s Day – all amazing dads out there!

Sausages

Time to enjoy the goodies that my husband and brother-in-law cooked in the sausage making class. So my sister invited the family for dinner who gave our hubbies the present and we enjoyed 9 different kinds of very tasty sausages. I had made my feta cheese / yoghurt sauce and my sister had made “hasselbacks”-potatoes. All served with a sallad and different kinds of beer. Lovely. My oldest niece had mad dessert and we brought some snacks.

Thank you for a great gift! And we have plenty of more sausages in the freezer to be enjoyed at other times.

Food and wine

Friday again. Can’t believe it’s been a whole week already since we drove down to our paradise. The builders have been busy bees – this is day 12 of the remodeling and they have almost finished the ground work. Can’t wait to see when the tiles are in place.

After work I met up with an old friend to go to the Food and Wine Fair and the All for the Health Fair. It was great to see her and spend a few hours together chatting and wandering around the fair. I bought some cheese and we had a sandwich to eat but other than that I didn’t buy anything.

Now a quiet eve in my corner – let the weekend begin!

Xmas tree

The city is getting ready for Xmas. Today they put the tree up but no lights yet. Fortunately.

Busy long day at work – my colleague wasn’t there today so I was on my own and got quite a lot done.

After work I had scheduled some me-time with my masseuse – a 50 min massage later I was ready to go home and enjoy the rest of the evening. Perfect ending of a long day.

Back.. with a free rider

Time to go back to work again after my long weekend off. Discovered a little free rider on my arm .. he should have stayed on Öland! Now instead he faced a different destiny.

Had an appointment with my dental hygienist today. Not my favorit thing to do. She noticed I had a small splinter missing in one of my teeth so I have to go to the dentist and fix it. New appointment in a couple of weeks. Bummer.

Been a busy bee since I got home – vacuuming, ironing, doing laundry, getting dinner ready. Now I’m going to make myself a nice cup of tea before it is time to hug the pillow. My husband is away tonight with our brother-in-law to attend the sausage making class they received for their birthdays last year. Let’s hope they succeed!

On the road again

Last night it was so dark outside since we don’t have any street lights or live anywhere near a city to light up the sky. It was still kind of cloudy though so not many stars was seen.

We had breakfast around 8 like we always do and after we had packed our bags and cleaned the house we started our long journey back to the real world again. The trip went without any problems – no traffic and dry roads. It was raining on Öland but as we went over the bridge the weather got better and better and we had sunshine for the most part of the trip.

I am so glad we were able to spend a few days together down in our paradise even though the weather wasn’t very pleasant. To see our relatives and just breathe for a bit away from the city. Now I’m cuddle up in my corner with a coffee, the laundry is running and me and the boys have had dinner. So good to see them again.

Day off

A grey and rainy day (this photo was taken our first day down here) and we haven’t done much. Relaxed, read some, watched some tv, had coffee with my uncle, went to the local grocery store for some bits and pieces. Now at 4:30 PM it is completely dark outside and we have crashed infront of our second movie for the day. First one out was “The Mule” (my parents hadn’t seen it) and now we’re watching “Inside Man”. A nice last day in paradise before it is time to pack our bags and head back to the real world again tomorrow. It has been a good break away from all the musts and have-to’s and I’m glad we went. Love our fall breaks down here.

Busy Sunday

Early start today and a drive down to the airport to drop off my aunt and her grandchildren. Me and my brother-in-law then ran some errands in Kalmar and arrived back home in time for lunch.

Spent the afternoon reading a bit in my training binder – finished another chapter.

We were invited to my dads cousin for dinner and my second-cousin had made us lasagna and prepared a sallad. Lovely. My uncle came along too. It was a very nice visit and catch up. They have been busy bees building on their house and it has really turned out very nice. A very nice ending of a grey and rainy day.

Quiet

I slept so good last night. Quiet house. Dark. Close to the bathroom.. (it’s quite stressful at home right now). Woke up early (anyone surprised.. ? ) and stayed in bed for a bit and read a chapter in my binder from my training last week.

We watched the soccer game on TV and cheered as much as we could. We won 4-1 and came in third place in Allsvenskan. We couldn’t affect the result ourselves – if both the teams ahead of us would have lost their games we would have won. But, the team in the lead did what they needed to do to secure the win and so did the team in second place. But, third place means we get to play in the European tournament which is great.

We have replaced the boards on the main house that needed changing today. I have picked the sloe berries in our garden. And we have been to the local farmer and bought some nice sirloin steaks for dinner and potatoes from their farm. Lovely.

Break

A long drive later we arrived in our paradise for a few days away from the city. I picked up my brother-in-law and then my parents and the four of us headed down together. It was terribly foggy for the first half of the trip but very little traffic. We stopped a few times and didn’t hurry down so 8 hrs later we arrived safe and sound.

The ceramics store was open so  I could buy the two decorations for our bathroom window that I had planned. Lovely. Then we stopped for groceries and now we’ve arrived. The fire place is lit and darkness is closing in. Time to get some dinner started in a bit. Internet was turned off for some reason so that’s why the camera hasn’t been working. But now we’re online again.
