Happy New Year!
Another decade behind us and a new one ahead with a lot of fun to look forward to. I’m sure there will be both ups and downs – like always – to get thru but I’m surrounded by a loving family and friends and therefor I know that I will get thru everything that life has installed for me.
We had a great evening among family and friends, with a team effort to prepare everything. We ate good food, played fun games and just spent quality time together. Thank you for a great ending of a decade filled with so many fun things. May the next one be just as great.
Frozen ☃️
A very cozy Monday off with a date with my sister and her girls on the schedule. They picked me up after lunch and we went over to Heron for a Disney-movie – Frozen 2. Great movie and great time with them! Afterwards I treated us all a coffee before it was time to head back home again.
Now a lazy evening in my corner in front of the tv. Don’t know what we’ll watch yet – the Swedish hockey game was played during the afternoon so tonight I have two other games to chose from. Or maybe we’ll watch something entirely different. Need to prepare the new years dinner too. Right now the meat is marinating, then I will oven bake it and then it will marinate again until tomorrow eve. Lot’s of love going into those preparations!
Relaxing
A lazy long Sunday with no have-to’s. We have finished watching the last couple of episodes of “Westworld” season 1. Went to get groceries for our contribution to the New Years dinner. A colleague stopped by to pick up her Xmas-present from work that I had brought home with me. She lives near by and wasn’t able to get it herself from work before Xmas, so I offered to assist.
A lot of fun ice hockey to enjoy at this time of the year with the World Junior Championships. So far Sweden is doing great – but it is still the group play rounds. The scary part comes next level. Two more games to go before the quarter finals begin though.
Dinner w/ friends
Weekend again – half way thru our time off. So nice with a lot of time left to enjoy and relax.
My husband went to the waste disposal site with all the wrappings from Xmas. Also the enormous parcel our TV was delivered in. Great to get rid of all that junk.
Great ending of the day with a delicious dinner at my sisters together with dear friends. Thank you for a lovely evening!
Day off ☃️
My father-in-law came to the rescue this morning and helped us out with some electric issues. Thank you!
Xmas sale .. and we decided we needed a new TV for the living room. A more modern one and updated one. Said and done. First movie out – Aladdin (who would have thought..).
And our youngest finally found a watch he wanted – he received money to buy one when he graduated last summer. Yeah!
My parents just arrived in our paradise. – I hope you will have a nice holiday down there. Give my regards to my aunt and uncle! And be safe!
Boxing day
Third day of Christmas – boxing day – with a traditional dinner at my parents-in-law. So nice! A lovely meal with a starter with salmon and shoulder of mutton (never heard that before – “fårbog” is the Swedish word for it) followed by turkey served with gravy, brussel sprouts and boiled potatoes. Yum! And creme caramel for afters. Lovely. And these goodies with the coffee. So full. Such a nice evening.
And one of my favorite tournaments just started – Ice Hockey U20 World Championship. This year from Czech Republic. First game out towards Finland and we managed to win 3-2 after extension. Great start.
Christmas day
Traditional Christmas day dinner at my parents together with my sister w/ family. My mom makes the most amazing beef roulades served with veggies, gravy and boiled potatoes. YUM! This year she made a baked omelette with ham as a starter – a dish my grandmother used to serve us for Xmas.
We played a game together after dinner – writing words of a given letter in different themes. Fun! Ended the evening in front of the tv just enjoying being together. I love our traditions and at this time of year we have several to honor.
Thank you for a perfect evening! Love you!
God jul! 🎄
Christmas eve with my family. So special and so dear to me. I cherish this day so much – everyone pitching in with something for the “smörgåsbord” and together we make the day what it is. A family get-together. We eat great food, share presents, enjoy a glass of something. Tonight my sister had brought a quiz that we played together while the youngsters enjoyed computer games upstairs. Thank you for making this such a special day!
The day before..
The day before Christmas Eve we always prepare the ham and enjoy it for dinner. Served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. And a kavring bread with liver pâté and cucumber. And a glass of “must”.
We went to choose my new glasses this morning – I found a pair that I liked. I will get them in 2-3 weeks time. After lunch we went to replace the light bulb that was broken and also went to see my husbands aunt to give her a flower for Xmas. Now a quiet evening watching the last couple of episodes of “Chernobyl”. If you haven’t seen that series I can really recommend it.
Advent 🕯🕯🕯🕯
Last advent before Xmas. We got up fairly early and went to get groceries before everyone else go there. Good plan. I think we managed to get everything we need for Xmas.
My husband has been a busy bee putting up the lights we bought yesterday. One lightbulb was broken though so we need to go and replace it tomorrow. But now we have a new light by the steps infront of our house and also a mini-light strand on our spa. Great!
My youngest son and I baked saffron buns together – fun! He is such a great cook and will do fine on his own one day. The buns turned out very tasty – a nice treat for the coffee tonight.
