Fortunately we have one more day off to recover this weekend but I wouldn’t say no to another couple of days. I am feeling slightly better but my husband will probably stay at home for another day or two next week. Snow is starting to melt outside and my little penguin is showing his little face above snow-level again! Looks promising!
A very tough week ahead for my oldest son. He has exams almost every day and is still not feeling great. He came down with the flu first and has really been struggling with not being able to focus on studying due to fever and cough. Fingers crossed he will feel better and be able to remember what he needs to pass at least some of the challenges next week.
Mellofinalen
First we were invited to my sister for dinner and “Mellofinal” on TV. Then we were invited to a party to celebrate a friend who turns 50. So we had to cancel watching the show together tonight. Then we got sick so we had to cancel the birthday party and let them know we can’t make it. So, both invitations up in smoke *feeling-sorry-for-myself*. We will, however, still compete for the amazing challenge prize. I think it’s our turn this year – I don’t think we have ever won it.
- Mendez – Everyday (64 points – 12)
- Renaida – All The Feels (81 points – 9)
- Martin Almgren – A Bitter Lullaby (84 points – 8)
- John Lundvik – My Turn (128 points – 3)
- Jessica Andersson – Party Voice (70 points – 11)
- LIAMOO – Last Breath (105 points – 6)
- Samir & Viktor – Shuffla (114 points – 4)
- Mariette – For You (113 points – 5)
- FELIX SANDMAN – Every Single Day (158 points – 2)
- Margaret – In My Cabana (103 points – 7)
- Benjamin Ingrosso – Dance You Off (181 points – winner! )
- Rolandz – Fuldans (75 points – 10)
JE managed to guess top three in correct order so he won the challenge prize this year. I wonder how many years that family will keep the trophy? Congratulations!
Finally
Finally Friday. This has been a week I’d be happy to put behind me. And pray for next week to be one without any of us being sick. We have been struggling all three of us. Now we need a quiet weekend to regain energy and get back on track again. M has several of exams and a presentation to do next week so he needs to be prepared and feel up to it. Let’s hope we all will feel better tomorrow – no flue, no fever, no ache in the body, no sneezing etc.
International Women’s Day
Managed to get through today too. Felt pretty ok this morning, actually, but started sneezing more and more as the day went by. And now I have a cold. No fever, I don’t think (hope).
Prepared corn chicken with broccoli gratin for dinner. Pasta for my son. Now a cup of tea and a few episodes of “Outlander” – we have a free month from Viaplay so we need to make the most of it.
Flu
Husband has the flu. He is so miserable, poor thing. No way I would stay home too with them both being sick. So I went to work. With a couple of aspirin, some asthma spray and a cough pill I feel almost fine. I was able to sleep through the night which was great. And hardly any fever at all this morning.. And work was ok – we have a lot on this week so if I’m not really sick I will try to be there. With a bit of luck I will manage to scare the germs off before they get their claws sunk into me. Two more days. Then weekend again. Lovely.
Worth considering
The big puzzle of life can be challenging sometimes. And questions like this one can be worth considering – instead of just doing things because “it has always been done that way”. Maybe there is a better way if you stop and think for a minute?
Today it was my husbands turn to crash with fever. It came from nowhere – he was feeling fine when he left for work this morning. I wasn’t – I have been struggling all day with feeling more and more like I’m going to come down with some sort of flu. Fingers crossed it will pass. M is feeling a bit better today and has been able to study some, which is great since he has 3 exams next week.
80
My dad turned 80 years old today. Wow. After work I hurried over there to spend the afternoon with my parents and also see his friends who came to greet him. Unfortunately, my oldest still has a fever so he stayed at home. I still feel ok but something is lurking in the back.
It was a lovely afternoon with mostly expected guests but also some surprises which was great fun! We enjoyed the “smörgåstårtor” that we helped prepare yesterday and they turned out great. Yum.
So, happy birthday, dad! I hope you had a great birthday and that you will be able to enjoy many many more! Love you!
Celebrations
My sister picked me up this morning and we went over to our parents to help with the preparations for tomorrow when our dad turns 80 years old. Then when we were done we went home to get ready for the family brunch.
My parents had invited the closest friends and family to a brunch at Enskede Värdshus. It was a lovely afternoon and the food was great! Unfortunately my oldest still has fever (since Friday) and wasn’t able to make it. And our youngest is still abroad. So – we had to go without our boys this time. My dad got a lot of nice flowers and presents and his brother was able to travel up here which made the day extra special.
Now we have crashed in our corners so full and not able to move.

Full moon
It’s been a crazy cold week. And a real challenge for the bus drivers getting stuck at almost every stop. Finally Friday and a few days off. Went to try on a dress after work but it wasn’t what I had hoped for. Might try to find something tomorrow instead – but I don’t have my hopes up too high. The problem is more in my head than anywhere else so I just have to get my mind straight. It’s such a hassel to try on clothes though when it’s so cold outside and I have to wear extra everything.
Now I’m going to enjoy the finale of “På Spåret”. Have a nice eve!
