Salad

Long Thursday – time to get into the work-mood again. Had an envelope to deliver today and since I was out of the office I picked up some lunch on the way too. There is a fairly new salladsbar close to where I work called “Kaffemakar’n” and they have really good lunches. I chose a “sea-salad” with shrimps, two kinds of salmon and vegetables. Chose wheat berry (matvete) to make it a bit more filling. And skipped the dressing. I was actually ok all day on this lunch but on the way home I got really hungry. Met M on the bus – he thought he might (with some luck) have passed the exam. One more to go – on Monday. Fingers crossed it will have the “right” questions.

Left overs for dinner today – chili con carne – and I made a wok for M. Now some corner time to relax and catch up on my mail.

Time

Time to get back to the real world again. Short first day to start with which felt pretty good. Quite a lot to do though.

Took a long walk after work and ended up taking the commuter train home. Stuvsta was so pretty when I arrived with all the trees covered with snow crystals. In the city there was no sign of winter – except for some ice on the streets and pools of water. Got home and made myself a nice omelette for lunch. Going to start dinner in a bit – chili con carne on the menu today. And pork filet for my son.

Left overs

I slept like a log last night. Guess I needed it after tossing and turning all night the night before. After a nice breakfast I walked over to the district health care center for my asthma checkup. I see the doctor every third year and this time she felt I had gotten much better than last time, so that was good news.

After the appointment I walked over to my parents for a nice coffee, chat and trying to help them a bit with their big jigsaw puzzle. Lol. It’s a big Gordillo-drawing of a soccer field with a ton of details. They have a long way to go still before it’s completed.

I have tried to relax this afternoon but ended up cleaning the kitchen and taken away Xmas. Did some laundry and vacuumed. But, I guess it’s my way of taking it easy – feels so good when it’s done! Now dinner is in the oven – pork filet with broccoli gratin and rise is on the menu tonight.

Airport

Time to take F to the airport again. I am so proud of him! He is growing up so fast and I am so glad he enjoys his time there. My mother came along for the ride and after we had dropped him off we went to Skärholmen for lunch and a bit of us-time. We had a sallad and then looked some in the stores but we didn’t find anything to buy.

This afternoon I have been doing laundry and finished the ironing. We had quite a huge pile since we haven’t done any ironing over the holidays. And I always use the holiday as an excuse to take down my curtains and wash them and they are quite tedious to iron. So now I can give myself a pat on my shoulder.

M is studying for his exams – he has three coming up. Two this week and the last one on Monday. Poor him. I hope he is able to prepare properly and pass them. That would make me happy!

Sunday at home

Sunday. Last day together for a while. Everybody slept in a bit and then we have just taken it slow. Did some laundry. Had lasagna for lunch (leftovers). Made a Swedish brownie. And invited my parents and parents-in-law over for coffee so they could see F off before he leaves. It was a nice visit! Then my sister w/ family came over for dinner and brought some thai take-away. A day full of family-visits – perfect!

I have two more days off before I get back to work again. Tomorrow I am taking F to the airport and the day after that I have a doctors appointment. Then reality awaits and time to face the world again. But it’s been great to have the family together for a few weeks. And this time it won’t be long before he will be back again!

Driving back

We got up our usual time and had breakfast while watching the rerun of the game from last night. And it was a close one – but in the end Canada managed to have the best of it and won. Bummer. But Sweden put out a great fight and the game could just as well have been in our favor.

We packed the car and left Lindvallen at 09.50 AM and drove a different route home – via Mora – Gävle – instead of Malung – Västerås like we usually do. It was probably a quicker way but not as pretty. Dropped S off around 4PM. My youngest longed for home made lasagna one last time before he is heading back to his school abroad so I made that for dinner.

We have had a great week and I am so glad we decided to go.

Time for the finale ?? ??

The days passed by so very quickly and it was already our last day of skiing. The skiers went out in the morning after breakfast (as usual) and I took a long walk over to Snötorget. It was a bit grey outside but so beautiful. Then I spent some time reading my book I got for Xmas from work – Ölandssången. It was quite different but I enjoyed it. Nice to read something someone else picked out for you.

Today we had a taco-lunch in the cabin and then for dinner we walked over to the Gustav Restaurant to get a take-away dinner since they were fully booked. A quiet evening in the cabin just spending time together. I am so glad S could come along – she and F have had a great time in the slopes together. I hope she has enjoyed our company too!

Tonight it is time for the final but since they are in Buffalo, USA, they play at 2 AM Swedish time, which is not an option for me. But they will send the game again tomorrow morning.

Cross country skiing

We bought cross country skies a few years back and haven’t gotten around to use them due to laziness and lack of snow. So we decided to bring them and give it a go. I can’t say I will receive any points for grace or speed but I did manage to complete the 2k track in the forrest and it was beautiful and the tracks were great. But I am so out of shape and so clumsy it is ridiculous. Just need to set my mind to doing something about it.

The kids went skiing on their own while we cross country skied and when we got back my husband joined them for a while before it was lunchtime. In the afternoon the weather wasn’t great so we decided to go to Experium and try the water park for a bit. It was included in the ski tickets. They had water slides and all sorts of fun activities.

Spagetti lunch in the cabin today and then we had dinner at O’Learys sports bar to get in the right mood for the hockey game later in the evening – semi finals towards the US in the Junior Icehockey Championships. And we won! Yeah!

Skiing day 2

Woke up to a freezing -20C but it quickly got up to around -8C. S spent the first half of the day on snowboard (F always snowboards) and she did really good! We met up for lunch in the slopes and after lunch S decided to switch to skies instead. During lunch we saw an add about fondue-nights in the top restaurant which sounded really fun so we made reservations. They transported us up there in these caterpillars. The dinner was great and we had a really nice time up there before it was time to be transported back down again. Fun!

Skiing day 1

Finally time for some days off together – away from work and all the musts. We had booked a cabin up in Lindvallen for a 5 days and drove up there together with the boys youngest cousin, S. We arrived 6 hrs later in a snowy paradise and while the skiers enjoyed the slopes for a couple of hours, me and M went to get dinner and prepared the cabin. It was a very clear evening and beautiful weather. A good start of our week. Let’s hope it will be a great one!
