Pyssel hos A – 11 dec 2017

Xmas Fair

A nice quiet Sunday with no musts or have-to’s. A nice relaxing morning in front of the tv. Then after lunch I walked over to the Xmas fair at Herrängens Gård to see my parents for a coffee and a look around but we didn’t buy anything. Said hello to the lady from Skansen who was selling her home-made ceramics decorations – we talked to her last weekend when we bought a little surprise for my American family and she said she would be at this fair this weekend. She remembered us. Must be for our bubbly and likable personalities.. lol.

Today it is the Nobel Day – December 10th – and big celebrations at Konserthuset with a dinner to follow in Stadshuset in town. Our invitations must have gotten lost in the mail. Again.

Dinner

A good day. Decorated the kitchen. Bought groceries. And prepared dinner and afters.

We had invited my sister w/ family over for the evening. Dinner, spa, snacks, last episode of “Så mycket bättre” and then some Buzz Quizzes to complete a lovely night.

Decorations

Finally Friday. And the city is so pretty right now even though some snow would make it even prettier. Strolled around a bit after work to have a look around. All the streets have a different theme. These hearts filled with red Christmas tree balls are decorating Norrlandsgatan. So I followed them down to Kungsträdgården, then walked up by Jacobs Church, through the big mall Gallerian and then back to the department store Åhléns before I headed home. My husband is away on a company Christmas event tonight so it’s only me and my oldest tonight. We met up for lunch too so I am happy to receive so much time with my boy. And soon my other son will come back home for a holiday too. Can’t wait!

Snow and rain

This morning there was snow on the ground and the world was a bit lighter for a while. But, then it started to rain and it all melted away. Bummer.

Picked up a few more Xmas-gifts on the way home – getting closer to being done. Still have a few left but unfortunately I don’t know what to buy. Oh well, I’ll figure it out.

Celebrations

Today our neighbor country is celebration 100 years as an independent state so my Finnish colleague took the day off to celebrate. Good for her. I hope she had a great day.

Another day with a lot of steps – 15.000 today. I had a package to pick up in the store again so I got off the bus and then I took a walk home instead of waiting for the next bus. Now some time to relax and catch up on the emails – can’t believe how full my electronic mailbox is every day with things to take care of.

I complained to both the company that delivers our regular mail and also to our community for the problems our mailman has when delivering our post and I have now received replies from them both with a promise to deal with my complaint and see what they can do to solve the problem! Yeah!

Staying late

Close to 20.000 steps today and I didn’t even leave the office (besides when I arrived and left to go home). But soon soon everything will be ready. Finally.

Missed the bus in Fruängen and had to wait for half an hour. I was so tired it didn’t even bother me. Bought a goulash soup with me home for dinner. Perfect after a day like this. Now I’m tucked in my corner with a cup of tea and the last episode of “Vår tid är nu”.

Moon

Last night there was a so called blood-moon outside, but I missed it. But this morning it was still really powerful but slightly hidden behind the clouds. I was at work extra early today so it was extra dark when I left home.

Short day but oh so busy. And my appointment after work was cancelled so I got some extra time on my hands, which was great since I am a bit behind with some things. Managed to catch up on some of them and tick off a few boxes. Also saw my parents for a bit which was nice. Took a quick walk to collect a parcel that had arrived too. Puh. Salmon with boiled potatoes for dinner tonight – ham and pasta for my son.

Skansen

Advent 1st. My favorite season of the year. Time to light the first candle and start the count down to the holiday season.

My mother and I went into town this morning to visit the Christmas Fair at Skansen. Not great weather but we decided to go anyway. First stop at the glassworks where they made little Santas today. So pretty but so expensive. We treated ourselves a small handmade angel – you got a good deal if you bought two. And I love the angel – it is decorating my living room now. Sitting on a small light to show her off a bit.

My mom and I had a great day strolling around chatting and looking at hand crafted things, locally produced food and being surrounded by the Christmas spirit. We had a waffle for lunch with goats cheese, figs, honey and nuts. Yum! On our way home we took the café-tram back and had a small treat and tea/soda. Lovely.

Have a great Advent 1st!

Weekend

Woke up at 8 AM this morning when the alarm went off. The first taxi was leaving already at 08.15 and the one I wanted to take at 09.15, so I thought it would be nice to get up and enjoy a nice hotel breakfast with no rush. Outside the kitchen window you could see the pool area with a vaulted roof covering it in the winter. Last time we were here there was a lot of snow outside, this time it was cold but snow-free ground. It looked kind of funny to see the flamingos through the glass floating around in the water.

A one-hour taxi-ride later I was back home again, tucked in my corner with my coffee and “Vinterstudion”. Changed the beds and did the laundry. And maybe I will get around to put up the lights for Advent 1st, that is tomorrow. My favorite time of the year.
