Today we decided to get busy and sort out some of the things that we had on our list of things to do. Said and done – first we took apart the trampoline and put it away for the winter. Then we did laundry and took away the outdoor furniture. Getting the garden ready for winter.
After lunch we all got in the cars and went for a drive to get out a bit. The kids stopped at all the pokestops on the way (4-5 churches) and after a quick stop in Kårehamn we drove down to Bredsättra for coffee. Then Borgholm for groceries and on the way back we got caught in a hail storm. It was raining so bad cars parked along the highway to not drive in the bad weather. Now the sun is shining and we have crashed in front of a movie.
12 becomes 6
Sad day today. Everybody left. Almost. My parents had to go back to town due to track-events, by brother-in-law and youngest niece went with them due to her gymnastics camp. Then my sisters parents-in-laws left before lunch and all of a sudden we were down to 6.
Me and my sister cleaned and ironed all the curtains in the living room and put up new ones and the old ones aside. My husband has been a busy bee and worked with several things. The youngsters helped with putting up the curtains. We ended the day with bbq chicken and now it is time for another game of handball. GO SWEDEN! Oh, and what is a Wednesday without some pink bubbly?
Windy day
It’s been really windy for a while now and today it was even windier. 13 m/sec and it was not very pleasant to be outside. But it was really fun to take the morning swim before breakfast with waves going over the pier.
After lunch my sisters parents-in-law came for a visit and also stayed the night. We had a very nice bbq dinner and enjoyed a lovely red wine our guests had brought with them. Nice.
Last week.. ?
Monday again. We decided to treat ourselves a visit into town. One car headed off a bit earlier filled with shopping-eager family member. The other car left a bit later filled with the rest of us – me and my dad wanted to watch the handball game in the Olympics, one had to wait for a phone call and a the other two was busy working on the plumbing in our house. Soon we will be able to start using our new bathroom! Yeah!
We all met up in the city and dad treated us a great dinner at Pappa Blå. After dinner the youngsters wanted to try air boards and they had a great time. None of them had tried it before and they all learned in a couple of minutes.
Solen och vindarnas ö
Today it has been both sunny and quite windy outside and the island has really proven itself worthy of its nickname. It was a bit colder in the ocean this morning – it has been around 19-20C every day since we got here but today it was 18,5C. The waves was all the way up on the pier – it is quick fun to be in the water then! One has to be careful climbing the ladder though.
This afternoon we went over to my dads cousin and his family for coffee and cake. It was really nice to see them again – even though we live close here we never seem to get the time to go over there.
Tonight we managed to win our first medal this Olympics – a silver for Emma Johansson in the 136.9 km long bicycle race. Yeah!
Rio Olympics
Summer olympics starts today – this year they will be in Rio in Brazil. First time ever in south America. We have some interesting athletes to cheer on and I am so glad we have another week off work so we an enjoy a lot of sports. Yeah! Our swimmer Therese Alshammar carried the flag for Sweden – she is doing her 6th (!!!) olympic games – amazing.
Me and the kids went for a walk to pick black berries today and we filled three small buckets. It will make a great pie tomorrow! We also found some gorgeous wasp-spiders – impressive creatures but completely harmless. Another great day in our paradise!
Crayfish
Every summer we try to have a crayfish party together with my aunt&uncle, cousin and his family and this year was no exception. It was a great evening – we could sit outside and enjoy the goodies and each others company. We had crayfish, I had made a salmon/ spinach/cheese pie. Also potatoes and pork filet for the ones who doesn’t like fish or seafood.
A great evening together all 15 of us!
Town again
We had to drive back to town to return the things we bought that didn’t fit and bought new things instead. We found everything we needed and this time it fit in the closet – puh.
We also took some time to do some shopping for clothes – and I found a couple of things on sale that I bought. I also found a dress I liked. Yeah. I usually don’t buy that much when we go shopping. Driving back to our paradise we made a couple of more stops along the way and found some more things. Yeah!
Second cousins
Our kids second cousins had baked a cake and came over to enjoy it together. They sat outside and had a small cake party and I think they had a great time together! Great that they get along so well even though the age-difference is quite large.
Today our new bbq grill arrived with courier (we ordered it on line). The guys spent a while putting all the million pieces together (…) but finally they were finished and we could bbq the first dinner on it. It was great and the old one will never be used again. Lol.
Karins day
Another name day to celebrate in the family – this time it was Karins’ turn! Both my sister and oldest niece is called that – congratulations to both of you! Karin wanted ice-cream on her day so we went up to Sandvik to the ice-cream place where they make their own ice-cream and it was really yummy! I had one scoop of hazelnut ice cream and one scoop of rhubarb sorbet. Mmm.
Tonight me and my parents have been to a concert in Källa Kyrka to listen to music by Ted Gärdestad and his brother Kenneth. Ted died back in 1997 but his music remains and are very dear to most Swedes, I think. His brother used to work with my dad and they managed to say a quick hello after the concert. Two great musicians performed and Kenneth spoke in between. It was a very nice concert!
