What a Monday.. It has been snowing and raining all day and there are inches of water everywhere. Not my kind of fun. And they have promised colder weather tonight so I am not looking forward to all the ice tomorrow.
The conditions on the roads were so awful we decided to skip the car and take the bus to our doctors appointment instead. Much better. And you arrive closer to the front door with the bus than if you would have to park a car and walk. On a day like this I don’t mind the extra time the ride takes (almost twice as long).
Turtles
Sunday morning and not as cold today as it has been, only around 0C / 32F. Very cloudy and a bit snowy – not very inviting to take a walk.
Started the day with breakfast infront of the tv when a movie just started so I ended up watching it. It was called “Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot” (Herr Hoppys hemlighet). It was a very cute story about a retired bachelor (Dustin Hoffman) who had a thing for his neighbor (Judi Dench) who only shows affection to her pet tortoise. A real feel-good-movie.
Been a busy bee taking care of all the ironing that has piled up during the holidays. Now that the tree and all the ornaments are gone I could access the ironing-board again. No excuses.
Nu är. .
.. glada julen slut slut slut – julegranen bäres ut ut ut.. Time to get busy and clear Xmas away. The pine needles are falling off and it’s time to take off the decorations before they fall off. I will also clear away all the little santa figures etc and change curtains and table cloths.
I don’t decorate the whole house – just the kitchen and living room. I always take extra pride in putting everything away in a good order so it is easy to put it back up again next year. It’s worth the extra time – makes life easier.
I will leave the advent candlesticks in the windows for another couple of weeks. They are so pretty and brightens up the darkness at this time of year. No rush in taking them down.
Friday again
Last day at work for this week.. Lol. I wouldn’t mind having more weeks like this one.
Today I received a text from my hairdresser offering me an appointment after work that had come up. I had asked her for one a few days ago. Perfect. A well needed haircut and also some new color to brighten up the dark winter. The before picture below ( .. well .. ) and the after picture above. I’m happy with the way it turned out.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Back to work
After two weeks off it was time to get back to work again. It was freezing this morning with -18C /-0,4F Brrrr. So extra everything and off I went. Bus was on time and traveling was easy so that was good. It was fun to be back and the day just went by in no time. I was hoping to get off a bit early since I had to come in early to open up, but of course something came up so I ended up working over time any way. Lol. Oh well.
My back has really been bothering me the last couple of days – feels like someone is sticking a knife in me when I lean forward. I hope it will get better soon now that I am out of my corner and get moving again. Fingers crossed.
Exhibition day
Twelfth Day feast of Epiphany – a day off from work and last day before work and school starts again after the holidays. My family are away on an all-day-gaming day with friends so me, my sister and a friend of ours decided to do something fun too. So we went into town and spent the day at the royal castle to look at their exhibitions. We have seen most of them before but it was the last day for a temporary one of Princess Lilian and her outfits through 30 years.
We had a great day together and ended it with a lovely lunch in the Old Town. A very very cold day -14C /6,8F – so it feels great to be back home now in my corner with a coffee.
Bronze
We lost the game.. 8-3. The US was the better team today. I am so proud of our junior-Kronor though – the way they have played the first 5 games. They deserved to reach the final. Tonight Finland is facing Russia – extra fun for the Finnish team since the championships are held in Finland this year. They have played really well this tournament and definitely deserve to be in the final.
My cold is still hanging in there but the cough is better. I think my asthma medicine helps a lot. Fingers crossed I will be all better tomorrow – have something fun planned with my sister and a friend.
Semi
What a day. -8C and snowing. Not a very inviting day to take a walk. But, I had to dig out the car and go grocery shopping. Noting left. Someone ate it all. I wonder who.
Made thin pancakes for lunch, to my kids delight. And in the afternoon it was time for the game I dreaded. Semifinal in ice hockey towards Finland. And for the first time in the whole tournament we lost. Finland was the better team – they won fair and square. Oh well. We made it to the semifinals for the 10th year in a row. Very impressive! And we still have a chance to win one of those medals, playing the bronze game tomorrow towards either Russia or the US. Fingers crossed!
Puh..
Yesterday our hockey team played the quarter finals. The group play is over – time to get down to business. We were facing Slovakia and we managed to go through to the next round. Finland also managed to go through so we are facing them in the semi finals tomorrow. Can’t wait!
My cough is getting worse – especially in the mornings – no fever but a slight cold. Let’s hope a day or two in my corner will do the trick.
Movie time
Saturday.. a couple of degrees below 0C and light snow fall. Quite beautiful. My cold is getting worse though so no long walks on the schedule yet. Just a quick one to the store across the road to get some stuff for dinner.
We went to Heron City to see the new Star Wars-movie together with my sister and her family. The complete chaos at the parking garage was no fun. Not an empty spot anywhere. We had to go park on a nearby street – never happened before. The movie was actually pretty good. Can’t wait to see the next one.
We ended the day at our house having dinner, making plans and reservations for our upcoming trip together with our parents. We found something we hope we all will enjoy – but where we are going will be a surprise for a bit longer… So far all they know is that we are leaving on September 8 and returning on September 11. And that is is to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
