So – Happy New Year – to all my friends and family! May 2016 bring us health and happiness and not be as challenging as this year has been.

We applied for new passports two days ago and we already received notice that they were done. So, back to the police station again to pick them up. Good to have that taken cared of.

Then I went grocery shopping with my sister for what we need to prepare the starters tomorrow at our New Year dinner with our friends. They didn’t have exactly what we needed so we had to think again – I hate when that happens – but I think we managed.

Now time for the third Swedish game in the Junior World Championships in ice hockey. Facing Denmark today.

Yesterday winter arrived with cold weather and snow. And today it was even colder (-11C / 12F) but quite beautiful with the snow crystals on the trees and the grass covered with a white blanket.

Luckily I don’t have to go anywhere all day – but later on this afternoon we are going to Heron City to watch part two of the Mocking Jay. Maybe we’ll have dinner too and if we feel up for it a coffee afterwards.

A day off to enjoy with my sons. We slept in a bit and then after breakfast we took the bus into the Old Town and visited the SciFi-book store to pick up a few things. Then we strolled to Slussen and took the subway back home. A short but nice little tour together.

This afternoon we have an appointment with the police to re-new our passports. But first – we are facing the US in the junior world ice hockey tournament.

What a nice evening we had last night! Thank you to all my family for making our Xmases together so special.

I recorded the first ice hockey game last night and this morning I am enjoying it with a left-over breakfast. Every game counts and the 4 top teams in each group are off to play the quarter finals. Yesterday we were playing Switzerland (won 8-3). Then we have the US, Canada and Denmark in our group. The other group contains of Finland, Russia, Czechia, Slovakia and Belarus. Don’t want to face any of those teams in a quarter final…

This afternoon I am going to watch some handball with my parents. Hammarby – Kristianstad. The photo was taken at another game we went to together. (I will cheer on our team but we are facing a much better team, to be honest). Hope is the last thing to leave your mind! So, go Bajen!

PS – we won 28-27 and managed to break their 18 wins in a row. No other team has won over Kristianstad this season. Yeah!

Annandag jul .. boxing day .. IIHF World Junior Championship about to start. We have been in the semifinals or finals 9 years in a row so no wonder we have high hope in our team. Fingers crossed this we be the 10th!

Today we are invited to my parents-in-law for dinner. I really like the way we have made our Christmases a tradition. First Christmas Eve at ours, then Christmas Day at my parents and Boxing Day at my husbands parents.

Started the day with the best leftovers all year. One sandwich with beetroot sallad and meatballs. One sandwich with Christmas ham. And one deviled egg decorated with shrimps. A cup of tea and then a big cup of coffee for afters. Mmm..

I had made these unchristian decorated gingerbread cookies for my father-in-law for Xmas… A bit risky but I think he enjoyed them and that was the whole purpose.

Today we have been to Christmas Day mass – me, mom, my sister and her youngest. It was quite good and held in Vårby Kyrka this time.

This afternoon we are going to my parents for dinner and exchanging gifts with my sister w/ family. Lovely.

The day has come – dopparedan – Christmas Eve – the day we celebrate Christmas here in Sweden. Not on the 25th. The 24th it is.

House is ready for the celebrations. Decorations are in their traditional place. Food prepared. Other goodies to enjoy. Presents under the tree to be opened later. But no snow. And 7C outside. It is actually quite a nice day with an almost blue sky and sunshine. No wind.

This year it will be my family together with my parents and my parents-in-law celebrating Xmas here with us. Every other year my sister and her family are here too.

Last day of work this year (unless something happens next week and I have to step in). Since I had a hectic day ahead I picked up a Christmas Blend Espresso Latte to go. Mmmm. A real treat.

And after 3 hrs overtime I was finally able to head back home. I think I really earned my pay today and I hope I was able to contribute in a good way. My goal every day.

Puh what a crazy day. But now I am safely back home relaxing for a bit before bedtime. This morning when I got into town the sky was really spectacular. I love this building on Stureplan that is designed to look like a huge ship. With a spar and everything.

Today it is the “day before the day before Christmas Eve”. And also winter solstice. Tomorrow we are starting to get a bit more daylight each day.  Not that we will notice the difference yet in a couple of weeks at least.
