The world

Back to work again – but it was actually really nice to be there again. I slept pretty good and woke up early. Decided to try and stay with my active life that I started before vacation, so I walked to the subway – since I knew it was going to rain in the afternoon and I had to buy groceries on the way home. It turned out to be a good decision!

Now I have a lasagna in the oven and a few minutes to myself before it is time to serve dinner.

This lovely flower still hangs in there – I think it was a gift from my mom a few years ago and it surprises me by coming back again year after year. I love it!

 

Last day of the summer vacation – last morning swim. It is such a luxury to be able to just walk down to the ocean and jump in. Not having to drive anywhere or plan.

After a great dinner there are great left-overs – which we enjoyed outside in the sun before it was time to return to the city and get ready for work tomorrow. We have had a really good summer and hopefully we still have some amazing weekends and evenings to enjoy before fall takes over and forces us indoor.

The moonlight last night was amazing. Something almost as great to watch as the sunsets in our other paradise. But a bit harder to take a good photo of. This one turned out ok – especially for being shot by my cellphone.

Today it was Lars time to be the name of the day – congratulations Lars!

Another name-day in the family to celebrate – this time it is my husband and father-in-laws’ day and what could be more appropriate than a pac man-cake since they both enjoy computer games very much. The bonus part was that I could save a part of the cake for my son who prefers the cake as it is – without whipped cream and filling.

Tonight we are going to enjoy the yearly crayfish dinner – it is a very nic
e tradition that I really like. So we are going out to our second paradise once more but just for one night this time.

 

Tomorrow we will go back to our little cottage again. But tonight we are having our “fredagsmys” at home.

I took a long walk today and tried out my new jogging shoes. I know – I should have ran instead, but it is still too hot. But a very quick walk to the store and back (45min) got my pulse up too. Even needed a shower after.

Now my oldest is with his gaming friends and my youngest is having a lan of his own here at home – but via internet. Time to get comfy in my corner, pour that glass of rosé and get a movie on. Or maybe, another episode of “The Killing”…

Another thunder night with lots of rain.. 40mm at least – that’s how much the rain gauge contains and it was full this morning. A couple of the thunder claps were right above us – really loud!

But, then the sun came back again and it was a lovely day. Morning swim and coffee by the sea.

After lunch we all had to return to the city for a couple of days – my oldest is participating in a computer game lan – they play for 24 hrs straight – and my parents in law were invited to dinner tonight. Then we are returning to our second paradise on Saturday to enjoy the yearly crayfish dinner! Can’t wait!

Yesterday we had a slugrace with the big slugs which carries a shell – vinbärssnäckor. We have a lot of them. They are actually pretty cool to watch – see how they solve problems and get around.

There is a heat haze today – slowly clearing up. Really nice in the water with 23C and perfect to have coffee down on the beach by our pier. There is a breeze down there and lovely to sit in the sun.

The boys went over to the shooting range in the afternoon to practice with the air pistol – that kept them busy for an hour or so.

I went along to watch them but I don’t care about shooting myself. When we got back it was great to go swimming. Lovely.

After an extremely humid and warm night it was great to take a morning swim in the ocean.  After a couple of hours it started to rain and thunder and we have now enjoyed time indoor learning to play canasta (a card game).

The weather prognosis seems to be very hard to predict – one minute they promise nice weather and the next they promise rain. So, I guess we just will have to take each day as it comes. Still it is 23C in the water and the sun comes out every now and then, so life is pretty good after all.

Ran away from the humid hot city out on the country side again! This time to our second paradise about 40 min from home.

We took a walk in the afternoon around the island and it was a really nice stroll.

Ended the day with a great dinner in the glass veranda enjoying good food and wine. Let’s hope the good weather stays this way all week!

Sunday.. busy day running errands.  New toilet seat purchased. New router. Tomorrow we will call the insurance company. Fingers crossed it won’t be so bad. Damage caused by water can be very tricky and expensive to take care of.

Another thundery weather night last night and it has been very humid today. Took a walk to get some kilometers into my legs – and was accompanied by both my boys! But it is exhausting to move in this warm humidity. You get really sweaty without much effort.

Our apple tree has a lot of fruit this year. Most of it fell off on the grass after all the rain, but maybe we can get some to eat and cook with too. I love a good apple pie!

Back home again.. usually I hate leaving paradise – hate saying goodbye to everyone – feeling sentimental about it being so long until we get to go back. Today it was a bit easier since my parents had already left and my sisters family left with us.

At home a few disasters was waiting.. a flooded bathroom.. no working phones or internet.. fuses popping while cooking dinner.. oh well.. back to the real world again.
