Eleven below

Last night we played the last game in the Four Nations League and we managed to win over the U.S 2-1. If Finland would have managed to win over or at least taken the game to over-time towards Canada, we would have defeated Canada and be in the finale. But, Finland didn’t make it so we are out. Bummer.

It was very cold this morning with -11C as I left for work. Long very busy day today. Arrived back home after work to a husband who was preparing dinner for the family. So nice. Meatballs with pasta. Mmm.

Now some corner time watching the last couple of episodes of “Black Snow” on TV4 Play. The second season is much better than the first, I think. Loved the actor in the lead – Travis Fimmel. He played the lead part – Ragnar Lothbrok – in the series “Vikings” , if you saw that one.

Back again

A very nice sunny day. But, when I got back from work the clouds started to gather together and it might snow. It is still below zero outside so the snow is still covering the ground.

Going to make cod for dinner tonight, I think. Minute-steak for the boys. But for now – I’m going to sit down and relax for a minute. Busy morning at work and quite a hectic week ahead. I do have a big CARROT waiting for me this weekend with a massage booked on Saturday. My first since December. So, I am really looking forward to that!

This lovely little pepper-plant was a part of the Christmas decoration my mother gave me. I saved this one when I took away the more Christmassy things in the decoration. I hope it will grow into a big plant!

Winterday

Sunday and a lovely sunny day with about -5C outside. We decided to get out from our corners and go for a nice long walk around the lake. It took us almost 1,5hrs and it was very nice to get some steps in and fresh air. Afterwards we crashed back in our corners with a nice cup of tea and a treat.

The weekends go by way too quickly. Soon it is time to start dinner and then another week is coming up. This one filled with meetings and a lot of work but not much planned in the evenings. Plenty of time to relax, hopefully.

Mello – 3

Västerås up next to host the third party of the competition. Tonight we are over at my sister’s house – this time with her husband also there. We were treated a very nice dinner and while the others played boardgames,  I got to see some of the hockey-game between Sweden and Finland. We managed to take the game to a tie this time too and unfortunately lost, again, in the over-time. Bummer.

A cold day with some snow. -5C. This afternoon our team played the first game of three in the Svenska Cupen. First out Varberg and we didn’t manage to win, the game ended 1-1. Bummer. Then we have Kalmar FF and Stockholm Internazionale in our group too.

Tonights contestants are:

Part 3:
1. Greczula – Believe me – finale
2. Malou Prytz – 24K Gold
3. Björn Holmgren – Rädda mig
4. Dolly Style – YIHAA – run-off vote
5. Angelino – Teardrops
6. Annika Wickihalder – Life Again – finale

All hearts day 💕

Friday – finally. A crazy week in many senses. But, we made it.

The florist in the subway has these crazy roses – I have never seen roses this big before.

I picked up some candy for the boys and a nice piece of beef to cook for dinner. But first some corner time and a nice sit-down for a bit before it is time to continue with the preparations. I have set a nice Valentines-table – thought I’d surprise them and do something a bit extra nice. Let the weekend begin!

Hockey 4 Nations 🏒

Last night a very fun tournament started with the NHL Four Nations Face-Off  in Canada and the U.S.. Sweden – Finland – USA – Canada are the participating countries and first out was Sweden vs. Canada. We stood up very well and managed to take the game to overtime where we unfortunately lost. But, 1p in the pot.

I would love to see the games but since it is in North America the games are played in the middle of the night. Sweden vs. Finland takes place on Saturday at 7 PM but then we are having dinner with my sister and her husband before the song contest starts at 8 PM. So, it will be tricky to follow. A good practice tournament before the world championships in May, to get the team together.

Sushi

Midweek already. I met up with a childhood friend after work for a late lunch. We went to a sushi-place in Kungshallen and the food was really good (photo from a different time though). We had a lot to catch up on and need to see each other again within not too long, lol. It was a short but intense lunch.

Took a nice walk after work and had some luck with both the subway and bus. Finished the jigsaw puzzle when I got home – it was fun to put together. Now I need to figure out what to put on the table for tonights dinner.

Minute’s silence

Today Sweden honored the people who got caught (and some of them killed) in the shooting last week with a minute’s silence at noon. It was a quite powerful moment when people stopped where they were and just stood still in silence.

A long very busy day with a nice lunch date with an old former colleague whom I haven’t seen in 10+ years. Amazing how quickly we caught up with our conversation and it was like we hadn’t been apart. She came along up to our office after the lunch to say hello to other former colleagues and also to see our new office.

Tonight we were invited to dinner by my parents-in-law at a local restaurant close to where they live to celebrate my mother-in-laws birthday. We have been to this place several times before and the food is excellent. Unfortunately our oldest didn’t feel so good so we left right after dinner and cut the evening a bit short. Hopefully he’ll be alright again tomorrow.

Eight below

After a fairly bad nights sleep (oh well) the alarm clock woke us up to get ready for another day and week. -8C on the thermometer today – brrr – but sunny and clear blue sky.

Busy short day and now I’ve crashed for a bit. Had a late lunch and a cup of coffee and now I’m working on my latest jigsaw puzzle while it is still daylight. The remaining colors are quite alike so it’s tricky to do the puzzle when the sun is down. Perfect way to clear my head and relax before it is time to start dinner. Going to make chicken with rise, I think.

Castle of the month – Ekebyhov

New month and a new castle to visit. It is February and we visited Ekebyhov Slott which is situated on Ekerö, an island in Mälaren. In the early 1600s there was a stone castle here, but hardly anything is left from the original castle. It was replaced by this wooden castle and that started to be built in 1661 and completed 1701. It is now owned by the municipality of Ekerö and hosts a café. There is also a lot of associations that has their activities and other gatherings here with conferences and courses. We had a very nice cup of tea with home baked goodies at a very fair price.

Afterwards we drove further out on Ekerö to try to find Bjorn Ironsides Buriel Mound, but it was situated on private property so we didn’t get to see it.

We did, however, make a quick stop and walk around the Munsö Church, which was really pretty. The church is one of eight still existing circular churches in Sweden and origins back from 1185.
