This week passed by really quick – yes I know it was only four working days for me – but still. All the piles on my desk in the beginning of the week are now gone. I have worked really hard and focused and managed to use my new energy and organize myself again.
Picked up a lovely fillet of beef on my way home and cooked my boys a treat for Friday dinner. Served with oven baked potatoes. Nice sauce and veggies. Celebrating that my youngest passed his math class which he was a bit stressed about. Celebrating that my oldest managed to do his exams this week – all three of them – even though he was sick with the flu and hadn’t been able to study as much as he was supposed to due to our holiday. Not sure he passed his tests though – but at least he was able to give it a go. So proud of them both!
Work work
Thursday and a long day at work. The snow that came the other day has already disappeared in the city. Some is left out in the suburbs where we live though.
One more day and then a fun weekend ahead. My oldest has his third exam this week tomorrow – fingers crossed it will be alright but he doesn’t think he will make it. But, with some luck and the right questions he might pull it off.
He feels a lot better now – he had fever Tuesday and wasn’t doing so great. Today it is my husbands turn to be sick with fever and some sort of flue. I hope they will not pass it on to my youngest or to me. I don’t have time to be home sick right now.
Date
A very busy day but short so I had to be extra efficient. Met up with my niece for lunch and we went to Vetekatten for a sallad lunch. We have been here before and we both love the environment as well as their excellent food. I had a chèvre with beet roots and she had a Caesar with chicken. Mmmm.
After a nice lunch and chat we strolled over to Åhléns where I bought a new hairdryer – found a good deal on half price! My old one sounded extremely tired this morning and I think I’ve had it for 25 years or something so I guess it was time to get a new one.
We had a letter from the postoffice in our mailbox when we came back from our vacation that we had a delivery to pick up from my American family, but when I went there Monday it was no where to be found. Today I had time to look into it closer, so I gave our post office a hard time since and after an hour or two they called back and had found it. Yeah! It pays off to be stubborn sometimes. Thank you – mom and dad – for your gift! Love you!
Snow
Back to work again. Since I was at home yesterday I had to start my week with my long day. But, it was quite fun to be back and start digging down the piles of stuff that had been building up on my vacation. One step at a time and I managed to work my way almost all the way down to my desk again. Yeah.
It has been very dark today – raining this morning and snowing on my way home. The city is still decorated with lights and the tree is still on Stureplan. Quite cozy.
Laundry..
I had taken Monday off. Jet lag, sorting stuff, a ton of laundry and other things to do. Got up early though to see my oldest off to school – exams between 8-11. My husband went to work shortly after and my youngest left a few hours later. I managed to unpack everything and wash everything. Went grocery shopping.
In the afternoon my nieces came over to say hello and we sat in the spa for a bit. It was great to see them again and I gave them the gifts we had bought on our trip.
Maybe I should start folding the towels like they did on the cruise? A new animal every day. Lol. Tomorrow I’m going back to the real world again. Time to go to work.
Travel day
A very bumpy flight later we arrived at Heathrow, London. At least somehow I managed to get some sleep. The food served was not great and the snack was terrible. The food and service on the way over was much better.
Once in London we had a few hours to get something decent to eat and also time to look in the tax free shops.
Arrived safely back in Stockholm around 8 PM after a very long tiring trip. But we had a great vacation and I even got some sun tan to bring back home! Thank you so much for everything! We loved spending this week together and it was wonderful to see this part of the world with you!
Everglades
We arrived back to Miami during the morning but all the tours were cancelled due to the situation the night before. And the debarkation was chaotic but eventually we were on American ground again.
We took a taxi to the airport and managed to find a hotel that could keep our luggage for a few hours and also that arranged a new tour for us to replace the one that was cancelled. So we managed to go to see the Everglades and the gator park after all! A really nice lady who worked as a tour guide took very well care of us taking us back and forward to the park and dropped us off at the hotel after. Great!
A long wait at the airport (American airports are truly the most boring ones I’ve ever visited – no shops, terrible restaurants, nothing to do) and finally it was time to get on the plane back to Europe. First stop London.
Nassau
We arrived to the Bahamas during lunch time on our last day. After a bite to eat we went on two different tours – my parents-in-law went with our oldest to go on a guided tour. First they went on a catamaran trip and then a guided bus tour around the city of Nassau.
The rest of us went to the Atlantis paradise island for a few hours of relaxing in the sun on a sandy beach and swimming in the turquoise ocean. They also had a big aquarium called The Dig which was quite amazing. Filled with sharks, rays and other ocean fish. A great day!
We left Nassau in the evening to go back to Miami but the ship had to return to Nassau after a few hours due to an emergency. An 8-year-old child had a life-and-death situation – his heart stopped. So in order to save hens life the captain turned the ship around. It was a success and the child survived but we were 4 hours delayed which had consequences for the next day.
Sea day
A day on the ocean – relaxing, enjoying good food and the sun. My husband tried the water slides which looked pretty scary!
We had our breakfasts and lunches in the complimentary buffé restaurant on the 16th floor most days. Afternoon coffee on the 15th floor – a perfect area to relax and enjoy the view of the ocean in the front part of the ship.
Dinners divided between the three complimentary dining rooms with a three course menu except for one dinner when we went to the buffé restaurant where we had our breakfasts and lunches. The food was amazing and the service was really good too!
Tortola
The next day we arrived to the British Virgin Isles and the port of Tortola. This time all of us were able to get off the ship but there was not much to see or do in the harbor so after a short stroll we decided to go back on board.
The ship only stayed here for 6-7 hrs so we left again in the afternoon.
In the evening we went to see the second show we had booked – The Jersey Boys – and it was great!
Time to change the clocks as we entered into a new time zone.
