Finally last day of January. This month has been forever and a day long. Long day at work – with my new schedule I have my 6PM day on Thursdays from now on. I don’t mind.
Very hectic day today but productive. Crashed in my corner now and resisted to make myself a “semla”. We had coffee and cake at work today so no more calories are necessary, lol.
February starts tomorrow. New month – new challenges.
Snowy grey day
Mid week already which means I got to go home early. Thought I’d take a walk after work but it was not very pleasant to be outside with snowfall and -7C so I went for lunch in the city and then picked up some groceries on my way home.
Made spagetti bolognese tonight and burgers for the son who doesn’t eat that. No laundry today (mom – see, I can skip a day) but I did iron a pile of stuff (ok mom, I see your point) .. lol. Enjoyed the spa for a bit and now we’ve treated ourselves a “selma”. Bought the buns and the toppings and then everyone could make their own. Mmmm.
Rainy grey day
Today it’s been a terrible day weather-wise. A few degrees above zero C – everything melting. The city is like a river to cross. Out here where we live it is still a wintery scenery outside the window but it is starting to melt here too.
Long day today but I have a new schedule at work so my extra long day is from now on on Thursdays instead of Tuesdays.
Now a quiet evening doing some laundry and watching some tv. Nice.
Still January
For some reason this month seems like the longest month ever. And I was even on holiday for the first week – thought that would make it feel shorter, but no. More snow arrived last night but today it has been sort of melting away again.
Went to lunch with a dear friend today. A moment of sanity and peace. Perfect. A chat to catch up. She really put a smile on my face.
Spent the afternoon with my oldest – he is getting organized and signed up for a bunch of classes for school. He is doing a making-up semester trying to complete courses he hasn’t finished. Good job! He has been trying to figure out what of all the things he has already completed in each course he might be able to get credits for and doesn’t have to re-do. I’m so proud of him.
Treat
A lazy Sunday with no plans.. then the phone rings and we get invited for coffee with home made waffles by my parents-in-laws. Lovely.
Three of us went (our youngest had homework to do) and enjoyed a few hours with them and my husbands aunt. My father-in-law had prepared a slide-show from our Caribbean trip which was nice to see. I am still working on my photo-album from that trip but soon I’m done.
Not so cold today only a few degrees below zero C. Should have gone for a walk this weekend but haven’t found the energy. A lot going on at work right now.. one step at a time.
Weekend
We’ve been cleaning the house today. Vacuuming and dusting. Doing laundry. Cleaning the bathrooms. Crashed in my corner for a bit in the afternoon and then me, my husband and our oldest went over to Heron City to go and see The Mule with Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper. It was based on a true story and it was pretty good. Unfortunately 5 boys in front of us ruined it by talking the whole movie. In the middle they went out to smoke (!!!) and came back after 10 minutes. What???
Afterwards we wanted to have a bite to eat at O’Learys but the restaurant was fully booked so we just ended up having something at the food court instead. Our youngest had friends over tonight so we made ourselves scarce for a couple of hours. Nice to arrive back home with the house filled with happy chatting teenagers. Doesn’t happen every day.
Snowy Friday
Finally Friday. It’s been snowing pretty much all day and now it looks like winter again outside our bedroom window. Beautiful.
I like the snow and I don’t mind it as long as it doesn’t keep melting away. I hate when the melted snow freezes and creates extremely slippery roads.
A whole weekend ahead with basically nothing planned for a change. Lovely. Have a great evening!
AW
Today we had an after work event at the office – with an India theme. It was great fun and very well organized. I love my work and my colleagues are the best!
We have decided something new this year and have these theme evenings. My group is in charge of the August/September event. I wonder what we will come up with. So far they have been great so the standard and expectations are set quite high.
Mid week
Another busy day but I made some progress, which is great. I had a good afternoon too – just what I needed. Strolled for a while after work – it wasn’t so cold today so it was nice to get some air. Had lunch in the city before I went home.
Finished some left-overs for dinner – a mix of lasagna, burgers with mash, tacos and veggies. Nice to clear the fridge a couple of times per week and take care of good food instead of throwing it away.
Important last handball game facing Denmark tonight. We lost the game towards Norway so this is our last chance to reach the semi final. Fingers crossed they will make it – but Denmark is a tough country to meet and they are the home team too with great support from the audience. But, there is still hope if we play a good game!
Pyssel hos N – 22 jan 2019
