I had a really good nights sleep last night and woke up ready to face the day around 8 AM. So nice to sit in a quiet house, enjoying my breakfast and watching some TV while the rest of the family is sound asleep.
After lunch me and Peter went to get some Xmas presents but also bought groceries and a new suitcase for him. His suitcase is really big and we tend to pack it too heavy every time. So we got him one just like the ones the boys have. Washed the car on the way back. Peter is baking bread and I made a lasagna and dinner is just about ready.
Happy 2nd of advent everyone!
Checking in
A very tired Saturday.. rainy and grey weather so we didn’t really feel like doing anything but relaxing and recovering from our late night out. I ironed all the laundry and ran a few new loads of wash. Picked up some burgers for lunch.
Tonight we were invited to my parents-in-law for dinner. Our oldest came along but our youngest was invited to a birthday dinner and bowling at Heron City. We downloaded an app for our cruise and booked the excursion to Everglades in advance since this is something we really don’t want to miss this time. We also checked in which was required two weeks in advance. Lovely. 21 more days to go. But who’s counting?
Xmas party – total overrun at Punk Royale
This year we had booked a different kind of Xmas dinner at the challenging Punk Royale – a restaurant which is known for its great food and spectacular but odd serving.
20 some dishes served in a high tempo. A very controversial setting – dark room filled with good old fashioned smoke from a smoke machine. Toys on the tables. High music playing. I’ve been fed from a spoon, served caviar on the back of my hand, dishes presented like tapas on small plates / sticks / bowls / spoons for each dish. One even served by hand straight in my mouth. And a lot of different things to drink to accompany each amazing dish. So many flavors. So professionally prepared. And a dramatic ending involving a balloon and fire.. I’m glad we went and that I dared to try this! A memorable evening to say the least.
The evening continued at a colleagues apartment – everyone came along and we had a great time! And a colleague was welcomed as a new partner to the firm. Fun! And so well deserved. Congratulations!
Xmas lunch
Today I was invited to a Xmas lunch and it was really nice. First one this year and probably the only one in a restaurant.
A crazy busy day today. I’m exhausted. Crashed in my corner in front of a movie together with my husband after dinner.
WordPress just upgraded to “Gutenberg” and it will take me a while to learn and get used to. Bare with me, pls!
Old friends
Finally me and my best friend had a chance to meet up for a bit! Haven’t seen her all fall and I’ve missed her company. We promised to not repeat this year of not seeing each other on a regular basis and do better next year. Go back to our monthly lunches and stay in touch. She looked great with a new hairstyle and felt happy and focused. We met up at a coffee place close to Odenplan and it was a really nice place with great atmosphere and coffee served with much t-l-c.
Still no snow but it’s below 0C now so it might not be far off. We enjoyed the spa for a bit tonight. Perfect weather!
Going to work
It is getting darker and darker in the mornings. The hour we gained by switching to wintertime is almost up. This photo was taken a quarter to 8 AM this morning. A bit rainy but the photo turned out quite nice. It was even more rainy as I came back home close to 7 PM. No spa tonight I’m afraid. Not very nice when it is raining.
Watched Sweden defeat Poland tonight in the European Championships in handball for ladies. Close game. Started out really nice with a comfortable lead but got a bit too nerve-racking in the end. A win tonight meant we’re still in the tournament!
December
Can’t believe it’s December already. And the third none the less. Just need some snow now to make the Xmas-spirit come alive. Thought this color would put some spark to my life. It’s called “Go overboard”. Lol.
I didn’t sleep so good last night – kept waking up all the time. A lot of things going on at the moment. But, one step at a time and it will be fine. Busy times for my boys too now with assignments, finals and tests. They are both studying a lot at the moment. I hope their hard work pays off! *proud mom*
Advent 1st ?
Today it was time to light the first candle of Advent. And we bought our Xmas-tree. We usually set it up on the weekend before Xmas but since we are going on a trip after Xmas we wanted to enjoy the tree a bit early.
My parents came over for coffee and a glass of “glögg”. I had made a gingerbread sponge cake too. It was lovely to see them, as always.
We have been cleaning upstairs most of the day too and it is starting to look ok. We didn’t turn everything around like we first intended – just switched place on the sofas. But most importantly we have sorted out a bunch of things we no longer need and also cleaned behind and underneath the furniture. Perfect.
Tonight we have rewarded ourselves with some time in our spa (no rain tonight, but a bit windy) and now some corner time with a cup of tea. Lovely.
Rain rain rain
Finally we pulled ourselves together and delivered this lovely present that my sister has made for my husbands aunt. We bought a flower to go with it. The lady in the store was really impressed with the pot and I wouldn’t be surprised if she steals the idea and starts selling them herself! Lol.
My husbands aunt was so happy about the gift and we stayed for a cup of tea and a chat. Lovely!
It’s been raining all day long so we will probably not enjoy our spa tonight either. November was terrible that way and I am hoping December will bring us lots of opportunities for us to enjoy the spa. It doesn’t matter if it is snow or freezing outside but if it is windy or raining it really isn’t very nice out there.
We have put up the lights in the windows today and all our neighbors houses look really pretty too. I love advent! My favorite time of year.
