Mother’s Day in Sweden

image

Today it is Mother’s Day in Sweden and I was celebrated this morning with a great gift from my boys. An electric foot file! Perfect!

We were all invited for coffee to my mother this afternoon and she really gave us a treat of goodies. Everything we could wish for and then some! My sister and I gave her a rose bush that she can plant outside. image

We have tried to get hold of mother-in-law too today but no
answer. I hope they are out having a great time somewhere!

After the coffee treat we went to see my oldest niece in her dance show. She did us proud – as always!

Now we are going for some take-away dinner – a lovely ending of this weekend!

Sports weekend

wpid-img_20150514_101200.jpgThis is a weekend full of sports – but for us mostly from the tv sofa. My niece is competing in the team gymnastics event in Gothenburg this weekend. She is becoming such a great team gymnast and I am sooo proud of her. The event will be shown live via YouTube and I will be cheering on our team!

Today it is also time for the yearly Stockholm Marathon. The city will be full of people competing, cheering and touristing. Good idea to stay away.. Lol. Unfortunately the weather-Gods are somewhere else today – it is 50F (10C) outside and very cloudy. Rain to be expected.

Hammarby has a home match today. If it was a bright sunny day I would have loved to go and see it live but I will be following the game via my computer. They have not won in a while now so today it is definitely their turn!

Friday – yeah!

Week came to an end and this week had a Friday too!

After work I picked up groceries forwpid-img_20140830_111416.jpg dinner and now we are all fed and happy and ready for some “fredagsmys”. In my case it will be some great cheese and a glas of red. My kids will enjoy some crisps and maybe a soft drink. All enjoying our Friday eve in our own way.

Mothers-day-weekend awaits. I wonder what it may bring.. ?!

Wonderful world

imageA nice walk in the morning is such a great start on a day – especially with this view to enjoy. It was absolutely gorgeous along Långsjön today. As most days. If it’s not – I usually take the bus..

Now I’m tucked in my corner watching the last episode of Grey’s Anatomy for this season. Talk about a lot of emotions. Really puts your own life in some perspective. Just what I need.

Lunch date

A nice sunny day – slightly warmer than yesterday – and imageshort day at work, which gave me a chance to see a dear friend and have a nice quiet lunch together to catch up. Perfect me-time well needed.

After a few errands and musts I am now back home, laundry started and in a minute I will start dinner. Swedish pancakes on the wish-and-want list tonight..

Vilhelmina

Today it is my grandmothers name day. Her first name was Mary but she was also called Vilhelmina Kristina. I remember her with great affection and a big smile!

imageTonight when I came back home after a long day at work I enjoyed a big plate of the yummy lasagna I cooked yesterday. I was really hungry so it was a perfect dinner!

Today it’s been all kinds of weather – can’t believe May is almost over since it is so chilly outside still. I’m not ready to leave my stockings at home just yet..

Morning walk

Monday again and it started out great with sunshine so I decided to walk to the subway. This pic was taken last spring but it kind of looked like this today too. wpid-img_20140627_075042.jpg

Unfortunately the great weather didn’t last very long and now it is raining again. Since I had a short day at work I have spent the afternoon doing good things for my family – the lasagna is just finished  and the home made burgers will be served when everyone is home. One set of laundry done and hung up in the airing cupboard. Now some corner-time for me catching up on the e-mails and friends.

Whit Sunday

Finally some sunshine and nice weather! This Whit Sunday we started with attimageending morning service in church because our teenagers received their youth leader diplomas. 32 teenagers had completed the education which started last year. A great experience and good education to have.

No more obligations today other than wash up all the dishes from last night and get the house back in order again. It was such a great evening. With my oldest turning 18 and our friends having their wedding anniversary we had plenty of reasons to celebrate already. Måns winning was just the icing of the cake! Even the priest in church this morning quoted his lyrics in the winning song – and made it part of his sermon.

“I make worms turn into butterflies
Wake up and turn this world around
In appreciation

He said I never left your side
When you were lost I followed right behind
Was your foundation”

Big day

A very special day. Both for me and for my oldest son – my first imageborn child turns 18 years old today. Wow. I am so thankful for my boys and they are really my pride and joy in life.

This morning I was going through our old photo albums for a minute of reflection. Special memories kept in books. Today a couple of more will be added – his grandparents and auntie w/ family are coming over in a couple of hours to celebrate him properly. We’ll be having his favorite – “kladdkaka” (Swedish brownie – like a mudcake) with the coffee.

Dear son – I wish you all the best in life! Enjoy it. Be safe. Be curious and explore the world. And always know I’m right here – just let me know if you need me!
