I am fascinated by my city and it’s history. Like this building for instance. It was built in 1898 and was originally a department store called KM Lundbergs. In 1902 the department store was remodeled and changed name to NK and moved to where it still is on Hamngatan.
The new lodgers was Nordstjernan – a Swedish familyowned investment company and shipowning business – and they redecorated the building to look like a big ship with a spar, observation post and figure heads.
The weather is really awful today with ice rain which gives us an icy and slippery road surface. I really hope it will be better soon.
Spinach
A real treat on a Thursday – fish fingers and stewed spinach. Yum! My boys don’t eat it but me and my husband love it. It is very common that I cook a variety of things to choose from since we don’t like the same food in my family for different reasons. So tonight there were also pasta, mash and ham to choose from..
I can’t believe January has come to an end. February has a lot of fun to offer with the Olympics being the main reason. Melodifestivalen starts off on Saturday and will keep us busy the next month and a half! Fun!
Groceries
I did good today and went grocery shopping after work. It always takes a bit extra encouragement for me to go for some reason. 1800sek later and a car full of food and other things I came back home. Then comes the real challenge – to carry everything inside and unpack.
Made burgers and boiled potatoes with gravy for dinner. After that I baked bread and now some corner-time to finish off the day. Might treat myself a rye sandwich with my evening tea!
Latte
Tuesday is the day of the week I work late. So not much energy left when I get home other than crash in my corner with a latte and tv.
I try to get some stuff done around the house before I go to work on Tuesdays – this morning I vaccumed the bottom floor for instance. Makes my conscience more relaxed in my corner in the evening doing nothing.
The second run in the downhill is on really late tonight – I don’t know if I am able to watch it..
Tupperware
My guests just left after a very nice evening filled with Tupperware products. I’ve been a hostess for parties since I first moved to my own place back in 1989. So, my cupboards are filled with goodies of all sorts. But I do use most of them and I love them!
Now some time in my corner to relax before it’s time to hug the pillow.
Stenmark
My first Ingemar Stenmark cap done! I am very proud of it. There is just one problem – it is too small for me 🙁 . I knitt too tight. Hmmm.. need to practise some more or maybe switch to larger needles. It was a lot of fun to follow a pattern though so I might give it another go. I have a pattern with bears on too.
I am having guests over tomorrow so I baked delicious butter buns. Going to give the youngsters some in a minute – they can be my test panel.
Oh – they loved them btw – so I can serve them tomorrow!
House full of teenagers
Friday again
What a crazy week but now it is finally weekend and time to regain some energy. Hopefully it will not snow all weekend so I might dare to take a walk and enjoy some sunshine and blue sky.
The sign on the bus says “not in traffic” and that was not the destination I had in mind going home. But finally the bus with the correct sign came along and now I can enjoy the second run in the slalom race. Go Sweden!
Bento
What shall I make for dinner? Same difficult question every day. Yesterday I made “pyttipanna” – I cut all of our leftovers into tiny cubes and panfried it. So, no leftovers to finish off.
Lunch was a real treat today – we had client lunches in the office and since I had to buy and get their food I bought one for myself too. A bento box. Filled with 5-6 different Japanese dishes. Yum. Just a sample of each. Sushi, yakiniku, yakitori, spring roll, rise and veggies. And a pork of some sort with spicy sauce.
Södertörn
Today I passed the Södertörn University – I really like the campus of that school. You can study economics, environment/ communication/ politics, media design, infectious disease control and environmental science here among other things.
It was a gorgeous day to day – the sunshine and blue sky just made my day.
Another hand-ball game just finished – this time against France.. but since we lost last night we are now out of reach of the semi finals. But – the good news is that we beat them for the first time in a decade. Too bad it didn’t help.
So – what do you think about this new layout? Feedback, pls!
