After breakfast the four of us went over to Kungens Kurva to run some errands. We managed to get everything done and brought some lunch with us back home.
This afternoon we have worked some in the garden – hubby cleaning the tiles in the outdoor area and I have trimmed our roses and also planted the two geraniums that I bought as a start. I will add some more plants as spring continues – but nice with these bright pink ones to start with.
We are going to bbq a picana-steak tonight so it is resting on the counter as we speak while hubby is out running and I’m watching soccer on tv. So nice to have this extended weekend to enjoy – but time goes by way too quickly. Only one day left.
Tear and share
Today is a working day between two holidays so a lot of people take the day off. Including me. I have a lot of hours on my account and I’m not really needed at the office today, so I decided to take a day to myself.
My hubby and sons are at work and it is raining outside. So – I decided to bake some tear&share bread – or brytbröd as they are called in Swedish. They turned out great! Yesterday I baked a gingerbread cake. Where is this trend taking me? What shall I bake tomorrow. Lol.
Happy birthday, dear niece! Wishing you a great day – wherever you are. Love you!
Clear out
May 1st and a national holiday in Sweden. Some stores are open and of course people who are vital to community security and service work, but most people are enjoying a day off. Not great weather – a bit rainy and not very inviting to be outside.
So, I decided to do a most needed clear out and try this Sleepy-service. First bag is for free and they pick up whatever I put in it for free. So far so good. Then they present the goods on their website and sell it, but keep some of the profit and also a fee per add. So, not much left for me but fingers crossed I will get some anyway. Whatever they can’t sell will be donated for charity, so that is good and probably what I would have done anyway. It will be 4-6 weeks before my things are out for sale.
Oh – and our ladies managed to win the semi-final in Svenska Cupen today and are playing in the finale on June 6th. Yeah! Forza!
Walpurgis
A special day. Today we said goodbye to an old friend of the family. We attended his funeral in Bromma Kyrka and it was a very nice ceremony in this beautiful church from the 12th century. Afterwards we were invited to memorial coffee to sum up.
When we arrived back home it was time to prepare dinner and celebrate Walpurgis night. My parents and youngest niece were here and enjoyed a bbq dinner. We walked over to the bonfire and it was quite well attended. A nice tradition to welcome spring with a fire.
Tomorrow we all have the day off. Perfect.
Stress
Didn’t sleep very well last night – again. Stressful thoughts wake me up and come right back when I fall asleep again and wake me up again. Not very healthy, I know, and very tricky to make disappear.
But, this very busy day went according to plan and this afternoon it was us who had our birthday in April who was celebrated with a special fika. My colleague, who is our latest employee, shared this fika with me and I let her choose the fika. She picked vanilla ice-cream with fresh strawberries. Great choice! I had no objections.
Now, I’m off for a few days – tomorrow we are attending a funeral, then it’s a national holiday. On Friday we have quite an empty office, so I took that day off too. Nice.
Rain
A rainy start of the week – and the prognosis says it will be a bit rainy all week.
Short day today – and a nice quiet afternoon which was just what I needed.
Made burgers with mash for dinner – nice to sit down and sum up the day together. Now we have made a pot of tea and crashed in front of a new series on Max – The Cleaning Lady – first season out of four, I think. It’s quite good.
Picnic
Another lovely sunny day and time to celebrate my oldest niece who will turn 26 years old next weekend. Since we are quite a big family we gathered outside for a picnic instead of cramping up in her apartment. We had very nice time chatting and enjoying her home-baked goodies.
The weekends go by way too quickly but next week will be a very short week for me with only Monday and Tuesday at the office. Then I’m off for five days with Walpurgis and May 1st coming up. And a funeral on Wednesday (hence the day off).
Cheered on our team this afternoon and we managed to tie against Häcken – we haven’t been able to beat them in their home arena in 20 years… so, an even score was better than in a long time. Good. My Fantasy-team is really not great right now though … I have made some pore choices lately and now I need to suffer the consequences. Oh well. Still a long way to go before the season is over.
BBQ skewers
Saturday and a lovely sunny day. Did our usual round to the waste disposal site and then buying groceries.
After lunch I had an appointment for a massage – lovely. I almost fell asleep. Three weeks until next appointment. Nice to have something booked to look forward to!
Tonight we picked up my parents-in-law and treated them to a bbq dinner with skewers of beef, mushrooms and sausage. Also I made some garlic prawns and oven baked potatoes. Served with the broccoli sallad and yoghurt sauce from yesterday. And a glass of red. Ice cream with raspberries for afters.
Love my new solar lights – one still hasn’t started to work yet, but maybe we can fix it somehow. It doesn’t get dark until 9 PM now, it is still almost daylight until 8 PM. Then it darkens very quickly.
Fish & chips
Even though it was a short week with Monday off, the week still felt very long. We decided to treat ourselves to a nice fish&chips lunch at Napolyon today and we were not disappointed. Mmm. Very good!
After work I decided to to take a nice walk back from Fruängen in the sunny weather – but quite chilly. We bbq meat tonight and made some nice things to go along. I made my sis in the States lovely broccoli sallad packed with energy and also a yoghurt sauce with feta cheese. Mmm.
Oh – and Hammarby won the series of semi-final games in handball and are now thru to the finals! Yeah!
Premier
This morning the new flagship store for CAIA opened in our office building. Our landlord had predicted a crowd and chaos but everything went without any problems as far as we could see. There was a line but not too bad and they had arranged for a cue-system and guards to maintain a good order. This morning before they opened they had a photo session which attracted a small crowd.
Long busy day today but now we are fed and crashed in our corners. Going to watch another couple of episodes of season two of Woman of the Dead (Dödens härskarinna) on Netflix. It is an Austrian thriller which is quite good.
