Fish & chips

Even though it was a short week with Monday off, the week still felt very long. We decided to treat ourselves to a nice fish&chips lunch at Napolyon today and we were not disappointed. Mmm. Very good!

After work I decided to to take a nice walk back from Fruängen in the sunny weather – but quite chilly. We bbq meat tonight and made some nice things to go along. I made my sis in the States lovely broccoli sallad packed with energy and also a yoghurt sauce with feta cheese. Mmm.

Oh – and Hammarby won the series of semi-final games in handball and are now thru to the finals! Yeah!

Premier

This morning the new flagship store for CAIA opened in our office building. Our landlord had predicted a crowd and chaos but everything went without any problems as far as we could see. There was a line but not too bad and they had arranged for a cue-system and guards to maintain a good order. This morning before they opened they had a photo session which attracted a small crowd.

Long busy day today but now we are fed and crashed in our corners. Going to watch another couple of episodes of season two of Woman of the Dead (Dödens härskarinna) on Netflix. It is an Austrian thriller which is quite good.

Cleaning

Short day at work and a lot less busy than yesterday. Nice to get some time to plan ahead and prepare for things to come. Stayed and had lunch before I went home.

Spent the afternoon cleaning the house – doing laundry, vacuuming, ironing, dusting… Great to get that done!

When my husband came back from work we went to get groceries. Now we have crashed in front of the tv cheering on our team facing Malmö tonight at our home arena. Fingers crossed for a win tonight!

What a day

A grey rainy chilly day back in the city. Not very pleasant to be waiting for the bus this morning.

A very hectic day filled with meetings and things to do. I was exhausted by the time I went back home. But, happy with a good days work.

Now we’ve had dinner together – I made chicken with bulgur and veggies. Enough for my youngest to bring for lunch tomorrow too. Perfect.

Back again

We packed our things and left a slightly rainy Öland after breakfast to start our long drive back to the city.

There was hardly any traffic almost all the way home so that was good. Hit traffic in Nyköping and Södertälje but still made it home in 7 hrs.

My sister and parents will stay in our paradise to enjoy another couple of days before it’s time for them to return home. I hope they will have a great week – but the prognosis isn’t as great as it was the first week. Still nice to be there though.

Now we’ve crashed in our corners for a bit – the first laundry is running and we will go and pick up some takeout dinner in a bit. Time to get back to work again tomorrow – nice with a short week to start with!

Dinner out

Our last full day together in our paradise this Easter. After breakfast me and my oldest niece went for a quick walk. It was quite a humid morning with rain in the air and the horizon was not visible. But, nice to get some steps in.

We said goodbye to my cousin, his kids and mother who drove back to the city this morning. Our uncle is a resident so he is still here. So nice to be able to spend a week together and see more of them than we usually do.

Tonight we went into Borgholm for dinner. We decided to try a new restaurant this time – they usually have a grill menu along with an Asian menu but due to the holidays they only offered the Asian one for now. We all chose different things from the menu and I think everyone was happy with their dinner.

Now we all crashed in our corners for a bit. No sunsets to enjoy all weekend – I’m so glad we were able to see a few when we first arrived.

Easter celebration

A day with mixed weather and around 13C outside. We went for a longer walk this morning – up to Grönvik and back. Nice.

Every year since the kids were little we have had an egg-hunt and also done some sort of craft. This year after they had solved the egg-hunt puzzle and found their eggs filled with goodies, they made these fun little things that we hang in the curtain. Now my oldest niece has decorated all the eggs for Easter dinner while me and mom has prepared the food for dinner.

Now we cheer on our ladies playing soccer before it’s time to get on with the dinner preparations. A nice Easter celebration according to our tradition in our paradise.

Visit

After breakfast me and my hubby drove down to Kalmar to visit his great aunt who turned 103 years old the other week. We brought a “smörgåstårta” and some Easter flowers to celebrate. We had a lovely visit and stayed and chatted for several hours. Nice.

This afternoon my cousin with children came over to watch the soccer game together with us. Our first loss this season. Bummer. 3-1 towards Mjällby. For some reason I could sense it and I’m sorry my feeling was correct. Oh well. Next game on Wednesday.

Not very good weather today unfortunately with some rain off and on all day and not very warm either. No walk today.

Tonight my youngest is preparing dinner – spagetti bolognese – and all nine of us will enjoy it together. The Good Friday is coming to an end.

Skärtorsdag

First day of the Easter weekend and today most of the rest of the family has joined us in our paradise. Nice. My husband and sons were able to take the whole day off so they arrived in time for dinner and later in the evening my sis, husband and oldest daughter arrived.

This morning I reached a goal – 1000 days learning streak in my Duolingo class. Yeah! I started this with no real goal to begin with other than refreshing my Spanish and have a small daily challenge.

It’s been a less nice day today with a lot of fog, but we went on an hour long walk anyway. Other than that we haven’t done much today. Perfect.

Family lunch

Midweek and time for a nice family lunch at Sandviks Fisk och Hamnkrog. They were renovating the indoor part so we sat in the glasshouse with blankets in our knees, but that was ok. The food was good – me and my mom had fish and chips, dad chose the fish soup. Mm.

Afterwards we drove up to the northern part of Öland to get some honey from a man who makes his own. On the way back we filled up with more groceries for Easter – hopefully we are ready for the troops arriving tomorrow.

It is very foggy today – we can barely see the ocean. Not very inviting to go for a walk today so we crashed in our corners with a cup of coffee and a Beck-movie.
