Nothing beats a great panfried flounder with boiled potatoes and vegetables. Especially in the middle of the week. That’s what I call a treat.
Now some me-time – corner & latte. Life is not so bad.
Rye bread
Yesterday was an emotional day for me for some reason. I was tired and felt like our family need some positive news and something to look forward to. We all struggle a bit, each for our own reason.
When I was little my mom and grandma used to bake a bread made from sifted rye flour. All round with a hole in the middle. I have my grandmas old recipe book so I found the recipe and the bread turned out great. I had a taste last night when the bread was still warm and soft. With tea and orange marmalade. It brought back memories and it was great to start today with a breakfast with home made rye bread.

Breakfast rolls
Yesterday I baked some bread for breakfast and it was really nice to enjoy this morning.
For a day of doing nothing I did plenty yesterday – cleaning, doing laundry, changed all four beds, grocery shopping, baking, homework assistant, cooking.. but I also had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the skiers on tv along with working on my knitting project.Today I have another day of doing nothing.. the sun is shining so maybe a nice walk might be an option.
Snow everywhere
When we woke up today winter had arrived and spread snow everywhere. It was really pretty outside the window. First heavy snowfall in the middle of January – I can’t remember when that happened last. Let’s hope we get a good couple of winter months now so we can go skiing and snowboarding in the weekends and that spring arrives in time and is not equally delayed..
Now time to enjoy skiing on tv and a latte in my corner!
Fredagskos – as they say in Norway..
Fire
Today I have learned how to use a fire extinguisher. But only in theory – fortunately. No real danger or fire to put out.
It has been a long day but pretty productive. Now I need to get home and start dinner – any ideas what to make? Tonight it’s the final elimination of competitors in the Swedish Masterchef. I really enjoy it that show.
Nalen
Another good day has come to an end. I was treated a very nice lunch today at Nalen – a very old restaurant in town with a lot of history. It was founded already back in 1888 and used to be a very popular place for entertainment and dance with live orchestras and famous musicians.
Tonight my parents came over for dinner after a long drive back from our paradise where they’ve been for a few weeks. Good to see them again!
Back to work
The 17 sleep-ins are gone. Now it’s time to get back to the real world again. Back to work, school, homework and daily challenges.
The day started with cancelled commuter trains and missed busses.. but turned out pretty good after all. Got a lot done and accomplished. I felt appreciated and even though I’m tired I feel good. I’m on track again and ready to face the world – as I see it.
Last day
The vacation has come to an end. Two weeks off from work. Tomorrow it is back to life again – back to commuting, back to school and homework. But, it was really great to be able to get a good long break together even though the Christmas week could have been better with half of the family sick. I’m glad we were able to join all of our friends in Dalarna to celebrate New Years and also that we took the time and money to go to Norway for a weekend of skiing. Trysil was great – everything except the weather.. It was so much fun to meet up with our other friends so the kids could ski together. Kids – I mean – teenagers.. lol
New year – new challenges – I look forward to 2014 with everything it has to offer!
