This morning I was tucked in my corner watching the rain getting closer. The sky was grey and it was a bit windy outside. Didn’t feel like leaving my couch all day to be honest. I did good yesterday with all the housework, baking and grocery shopping. So I don’t have to do anyth
ing more today other than enjoying the last day of the weekend and relax.
It is October 4th and we have a special day in Sweden – it is a national theme day – Cinnamon Bun day.
We Swedes love our “fika” – coffee w/ a cinnamon bun. Or two.
Now after lunch the sun is shining again and it feels like summer outside. A hotpot is cooking on the stove – I love those dinners that kind of cook themselves. Maybe time to enjoy that afternoon “fika” and one of those buns. Or two.
Weekend again
What a day. It’s like summer outside. My husband has spent the day climbing around our apple trees to cut off some of the branches that are too high. I made an apple cake (but not with our own apples – they are not ready yet) which was a nic
e treat in the afternoon when taking a break.
A busy day for me – vacuumed, dusted, changed all the beds and washed the bed sheets, grocery shopping and tidying up. Now I really deserve that piece of chocolate that someone put in my shoppingbag..
And a coffee!
Special day
Friday. For once this week has gone by really quickly. I have been so tired but also able to sleep quite well during the nights. And now a whole weekend to relax. Lovely. I need to regain energy.
Last night driving back from the theatre we passed the City Hall and it was really pretty. I like it when they put spotlights on buildings.
An evening in my corner to look forward to. Have a great Friday everyone!
Theatre
Oh what a night… one of The Four Seasons big hits. And what a better song to describe the evening?
My sister and I went to see the musical “The Jersey Boys” at Chinateatern in Stockholm and we had such a great evening. Started out with a nice dinner at Vau du Ville close to the theatre and just spent quality
time together chatting and catching up. Then we went across the street to enjoy the show and it was really good. They sang like gods and if we didn’t recognize all the songs we sure did recognize a whole bunch.
They had a number of hits from the early 60th to the late 70th and in 1990 they were elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not bad.
Lunchdate
What a day. I am exhausted. Felt like I worked 8 hours in 4
hours due to the level of pressure to get everything done. One thing is for sure though – time flies when you are busy. And I do prefer days like this one compared to one with less to do.
After work I met up with an old friend for lunch. He wasn’t able to come to the reunion dinner so we made lunch plans instead. It is always fun to see him and catch up. We should do this more often.
I picked some berries from our elder tree and made a batch of marmalade. Mmm. It is a very special flavor and not for the breakfast toast. But with a good cracker and some green cheese – yum!
Michael
Today it is my oldest sons name day – Michael. During the summer we celebrate all the name days in the family that comes up during the vacation, but during the rest of the year we often forget to acknowledge these days. Hmm. Need to change that.
I missed my bus on the way home and I refused to wait 30 min for the next one. So, even though it was completely dark outside and I had high heels on I walked back from the subway. My activity bracelet started to buzz half way home so that was at least some reward. It buzzes when I have reached my daily walking goal, which is 10.000 steps. Boy, did I wish I would have worn my sneakers instead.
Me time
A short but very busy Monday at work – with several meetings and lunches to organize.
After all that carrying it was perfect to get some me-time – I had an appointment with my naprapath who worked his miracle with my back.
Then we had a real treat for dinner – since we went to the competition yesterday and didn’t have dinner at the same time, we decided to have the tenderloin today instead. On a Monday. What an excellent way to start the week! And it turned out fantastic. Mmmm.
Now some time in my corner with my new candles to make it extra cosy. Have a great evening everyone!
Mix open
Time f
or some fun team gym competition. Huddinge GF had their yearly mix open competition. Last year my youngest managed to get a silver medal in this competition. This year he is not participating but we cheered on his youngest cousin and her team managed to achieve the gold!
We had a dramatic day today and had to rush my dad to the hospital for some stitches in his head. He walked into a branch while mowing the lawn. Fortunately he is back home again and feels better.
Oh – my sister took the pic – I “borrowed” it from her.
Memory lane
A weekend filled with memories and old friends.
Tonight me an
d two dear friends are organizing a class reunion dinner. 14 of our friends from when we once started school 40 years ago will meet up at a restaurant and spend a couple of hours together. We have managed to locate all 26 of our classmates and have received an answer from everyone except 3 which is great.
Let the fun begin!
Alumni eve
A special day in many ways – besides a full day at work I m
anaged to squeeze in a nice lunch with an old friend. After work I treated myself something I have never done before – I had my nails done and they turned out great! French style. I hope the polish will last a while.
Tonight I have been to an alumni gathering with friends from my time with HP. It was the second one I have been to and I hope they will arrange more nights like these. It is so much fun to see old friends and catch up. I miss the amazing we-feeling we shared at HP – can’t believe it’s been 13 years since I had to leave.
Oh – my prayers were answered yesterday – thank you for your happy thoughts , strength and good luck! It helped!
