Sunday fun
A very busy Sunday – first my youngest niece received her diploma as a youth leader in church. Yeah! Same as her sister and my youngest. So proud of them! One year of training and now a job at summer camp to take it into practice! Good for her!
Then it was time to bake a cake and prepare for the guests to arrive to celebrate my oldest upcoming birthday. One teenager less in the family as he is turning 20. Amazing – how did he get so old?
The day ended in the most fantastic way with our pride and joy defeating Canada in the world championship finale. Gold for Sweden! After 1-1 in full time, 20 more minutes without goals and then a shootout to complete the thrilling game. Our king – Henke Lundqvist – saved ALL the Canadian attempts. Our 10th gold through the times. What a team we have!
Semi ?? vs ??
A lovely Saturday with the family being busy all day – laundry, grocery shopping, working in the garden. I watched Canada defeat Russia while I was ironing a ton of shirts.. My new iron stopped working a week ago so we went to complain today and they replaced it without questions. Perfect. Then we barbecued lamb filet and some sausages for dinner and I made a potato gratin – yum!
And a perfect ending of the day – Tre Kronor won 4-1 towards the Finnish Lions and are now in the finals for the first time in years. Yeah! I’m so happy! What a team we have this year! And my old class-mate Richard as their manager doing a great job! I’m so happy for him!
Summer in town
What a day – wow – almost 30C in the city! Too warm! One is never happy, ha? But, I must say, it was a gorgeous day. And as an extra treat my nieces called and asked me if I had some time to spend with them. Aaaahhh. My heart melts – I love them to pieces. So, they came in to town and picked me up at work and then I treated them Italian ice-cream at the very hip gelato-place on Hötorget. After some shopping we decided to head back home after a great couple of hours!
Now we have been busy bees for a bit after the take-out thai dinner and cut the lawn, done some laundry and dishes.
Oh – and we WON yesterday! Yeah! So, semifinal-time tomorrow. Towards Finland. Can go either way. But, fingers crossed and GO SWEDEN! Have a great Friday!
Win or loose
A Thursday filled with quarter finals – Finland won 2-0 towards the US. Wow. I’m impressed. Russia beat Czechia fairly easy 3-0.
Right now Canada is facing Germany (poor Germany). And – more interesting – we are facing Switzerland.
OK – here we go. I’m ready. Go Sweden!
Fish on the menu ?
A rainy midweek day with a treat – met an old friend for lunch, which was very nice as always. We had a good chat before it was time to get back to everything again. Bought filet of cod with me and decided to pan fry it after dipping it in bread and eggs. Mmm. Served with green peas, boiled potatoes and a touch of mayonnaise.
No ice hockey tonight. Getting ready for the quarter finals tomorrow. Can’t wait!
Love..
(is not enough) .. in itself.
A couple of weeks have passed since the concert and I’m still enjoying my best-of list on Spotify. Could write a whole story based on just lyrics and titles from my favorite artists. “Just can’t get enough” feels very accurate to say the least. (photo Corbijn)
Last game in the group play today and we won over Slovakia with 4-2. This means we will end up in 3rd place in our group and will face Switzerland from the other group that came in 2nd. Yeah. Exciting quarter final on Thursday. The scariest game of them all.. The true win or loose game with no more chances left. Let’s pray we will go thru to the semis.
Colors
New week – new challenges. It’s been a grey rainy day and I need to get some new inspiration. Some sunshine, birdsong, blue sky. Sit outside and enjoy a coffee. I am sick and tired of this cold weather and spring not able to arrive in full. But, the trees have started to get their leaves and some flowers are up so slowly but surely we are getting there.
The escalator where I switch trains is quite colorful – makes me smile! It’s the only one of it’s kind in the subway, as far as I know. Anyone know where it is?
Corner day
We got home quite late last night. Or early this morning. However you’d like to see it. We had a great time last night watching the Eurovision and enjoying an evening together. I’m sorry dad was cut out of this pic but he was there too.
A lazy day in my corner – the weather is still deciding if it’s going to rain or not. My oldest went to his friends so it’s just me and my youngest home for dinner. We are going to make our own pizza. Then it’s time for our pride and joy to face Denmark in the 6th game. After that it’s only one more game before the quarter finals start. The scariest game of them all. Fingers crossed we will go through to the semis. But, one game at a time.
