Memories

An extremely grey and rainy Saturday.. No desire to go for a walk or anything else outdoors either. We did go to the hospital though for a visit which was nice. Tonight my father-in-law has spent the evening with us. Fish kettle with cod and salmon seasoned with thyme, apple and oven baked parsnip. It turned out great! A sticky brownie for afters. With whipped cream

imageThe girl to the right used to be on the wall at my grandparents apartment and was one of the things I chose after they passed for a memory to keep. I don’t know her history but I remember her very well from when I was a kid. I really like her and now she is placed on the wall over my piano, companying me when I play. She reminds me of me when I was little for some reason.

Fish & chips

I have a new favorite Friday lunch since a few weeks. Fish and chips freshly made from scratch while you wait. It is soooo good. image

Now tucked in my corner watching the semi finals in handball between Spain and France. France is in the lead so far but Spain is putting up a pretty good fight. Qatar managed to win over Poland in the other semi final. Amazing. I would never have bet Qatar to be in the final.

A nice weekend ahead – hope it will bring sunshine and time to be outside. I need some energy!

Candles

One thing I really like about this time of year is that I can light candles every evening when I cuddle up in my corner. Yes, I imageknow, I can light candles all year around but right now it is so dark and the candles really make it cozy. I have a few favorites – one is the beautiful candle holder my grandfather made a long time ago. It holds a 2 inch candle and I have quite a tall one in the holder so it burns many hours.

Have a great Thursday – now I’m going to watch the Swedish Ninja Warriors.. I believe the par cour – athletes have a great advantage.

… hm …

imageMy me-time today changed focus. My appointment was postponed a week so I got an afternoon with no plans. Doesn’t happen too often. One upside is that I still have my appointment left to look forward to.

It is a really grey boring day weather-wise today. Almost raining. Snow is melting away again. This winter can’t make up its mind, that’s for sure. It is hard to gather new energy at this time of the year.

My taxi-mom duty starts soon. Time to get ready..

Darkness

It is so dark outside right now. Winter hasn’t hit us that hard wpid-img_20141130_170846.jpgyet, but I long for spring. Or winter break to start with when we can be outside in the snow and sunshine (I hope) every day. I need a vitamin-SUN-injection!

Long day at work but not terribly busy. Now a nice coffee in my corner watching another episode of “Stalker” – that is one creepy tv-series! Anyone seen it?

Last game..

Wimagee managed to reach the eighth final but there the saga ended for this men’s handball world championship. Bummer. Poland won fair and square, so congratulations are in order for a game well played.

Today it has been one of those days that I hoped would end with a great victory in the game, but I guess I have to find energy from something else. I have some me-time booked on Wednesday.. That is an excellent carrot..

Lasagna

A lazy Sunday.. well, I did laundry and prepared two dinners.. One for tonight and one for tomorrow. Lasagna on the menu imagetoday. Tomorrow we will have chile con carne.

My hubby did good and tried his new skis, but I was lazy and stayed at home.. 🙁 He came back exhausted after having to struggle a bit with the snow. I wasn’t too upset of my decision to not join him.

Oh – we have sold one pair of snowboard boots! One pair to go! Still haven’t received any requests on our car though. That would be so great if we could sell it ourselves. Spread the word!

Tulips

imageI was really spoiled yesterday and was given two bouquets of tulips. That is a real luxury! So now I can enjoy these lovely flowers both in our kitchen and our livingroom.

My two ski-fanatics are off to the slopes today but me and my oldest are at home for a less adventurous day with some cleaning, laundry, cooking etc. And  when my hubby gets back home we might go on a premier tour on our new cross country skis after lunch. We’ll see.

Friday!

A great ending of a pretty good week – my parents came over for dinner and we had a lovely evening together! I made a roast imagewith oven baked potatoes and brussels sprouts and red onions. And a cream sauce with a touch of black currant jelly. They had brought red wine from California which matched the food perfectly.

Oh – and I have booked a trip in April.. just for me.. to visit my dear dear friend since about 35 years.. Can’t wait!

Snow

imageWoke up this morning to a winter wonderland. Snow can’t seem to make up its mind this winter – it comes and goes every other day.

Snow = big traffic issues. First bus didn’t even stop by our station – it was too full already. Second one was able to squeeze us in but instead of 10 min it took almost 30 min to the subway. Need I say I was pretty late today..

Pretty tight game tonight – but we managed to tie against Egypt. No losses so far!
