Finally Friday and my last day of work for a bit. I really need a break and some time off to regain some new energy to be able to focus on my next project (whatever that might be).
We went over to our favorite restaurant for lunch – today they had fried cod on the menu with herb potatoes and a ramson mayo. Mmm. It was just perfect. We had a lovely time and a nice chat. Perfect lunch.
Picked up some steaks on my way home – Friday treat for my boys. Perfect ending of a long week.
Cherry blossom
Thursday .. slowly advancing towards the weekend. The cherry trees are in full bloom in Kungsträdgården right now so we decided to walk over there during our lunch to take a look at the beautiful flowers. And we were not the only ones – tons of people had the same intention as we did.
Long day today and quite productive especially during the afternoon when our it-manager was at our office to work on site. We got a lot done which was great.
My hubby called and said to meet up at the thai restaurant to pick up some dinner. Nice with a take away. Now some corner time before it’s time to hug my pillow.
A pain that I’m used to
Midweek – this week is moving along very very slowly for some reason. Maybe it’s because I am longing for some time off? I’ve been listening to a lot of Depeche Mode lately – and this song “A Pain That I’m Used To” from Playing the angel is a favorite among many.
Stayed and had lunch with my colleagues before I went back home. Stopped on the way to pick up some groceries and now I’m going to make a slow cooked chili with chicken thigh filets for dinner. It takes about 3 hrs in the oven so perfect on a day when I’m home early.
I’m still quite tired but I’m getting there. One step at a time.
Salmon
Very busy day today so we decided to have lunch outside of the office to get a break. Fish of the week at Boquerian was salmon served with boiled potatoes, asparagus and a lovely chive sauce. Mmmm. Perfect lunch!
It’s been a cold start of the week with degrees below 0C again. A big difference from last week when we had 20C above. How quickly it changes. The forecast for the next couple of days is about the same so spring will have to wait for a bit longer.
Slussen
The Slussen project is still not finished – they are still working on the area to get it done. But, it is starting to look amazing and you can get an idea of what the final result will be.
Monday so short day to start the week. I am very tired today for some reason – maybe the pollen-season is starting to affect me. Only a few more days then I have some time in our paradise with my parents to look forward to. Can’t wait.
Going to make burgers for the troops tonight. We haven’t had home-made burgers in ages. Nice.
Best breakfast
After a good nights sleep in a beautiful room decorated in an English style we met up with our friends for a castle breakfast. Mmm.
We stopped by Alvastra Monastery ruins on the way to take a look around for a bit. The monastery was founded back in 1143 by French monks.
Then we said our goodbyes and they went home and we started our drive back to Stockholm. We drove thru Vadstena and realized we want to return here to visit the castle and take a closer look at this picturesque village.
Back home after a long day we went grocery shopping and now we have had a nice dinner together as a family. A great weekend has come to an end!
Castle of the month – Västanå
The castle of the month of April is Västanå Slott outside Gränna. We had booked an overnight stay together with two dear friends and we had a lovely time. We met up for lunch at Gyllene Uttern and then after we had checked in to the castle we went for a long walk in the beautiful surroundings.
We were treated an amazing four-course dinner and afterwards we ended the evening with a cup of coffee and a small whiskey to round up a fantastic day.
Västanå Manor is one of Sweden’s best preserved castle estates and the first manor hotel in the country. The castle was built in 1590 by Count Sten Bielke and has operated as a family hotel since 1948. From the castle you have a magnificent view on Lake Vättern.
Finally
Finally Friday and our week of launch has had its ups and downs but on the whole we managed to reach our goal. So – time to pop up a bottle of fizz and celebrate! (photo borrowed from Systembolaget)
Picked up some nice steak and ready-made gratin on my way home to treat the troops to a nice dinner. Now I’m tucked in my corner for a few minutes while I’m doing some laundry and I’m about to get into my pile of ironing in a minute. Busy busy.
It’s a lot chillier outside today – the summer feeling came and went. The forecast promises hail tomorrow. Brrr. But, it’s nice and sunny and lovely so I’m not complaining. Let the weekend begin!
Pie
A very busy day even though the office was rather empty. It’s another sunny warm day but it will change this weekend, according to the forecast.
We went out for a quick lunch and could enjoy a spinach- and feta cheese pie with a sallad on the side. Mm.
Just arrived back home and our youngest is preparing dinner tonight. Spaghetti bolognese I believe. Nice to be treated!
Summer
The weather changes more quickly than usually even for April. One day it is below zero and the next 20C. It was only a couple of degrees when I went to work this morning but when I got back home summer had arrived. Flowers have started to bloom in the garden, birds are singing, the sun is shining. Life is good.
I stayed for a couple of hours today since we have a lot of work to do with this new implementation. People need support and have questions and this will continue for a long time. But, we are making progress and that’s great.
