Diamond League

A day with mixed feelings. A lazy morning at home and after lunch we went to the hospital to check in our oldest for his surgery tomorrow.

When he was settled in I left to attend the diamond league event together with my parents at Stockholms Stadium. My husband stayed on for a couple of more hours with him before visiting hours were over.

The competitions were great with 4 (or 5) new Stadium records – Juan Miguel Echevarría jumped magical 8.83 in long jump but with too much wind (2.1 – 0.1 over the limit) which deprived him for receiving a diamond since it wasn’t an approved record. And Duplantis won his first diamond league title! What a guy! A pole jumper with a bright future ahead!

Fingers crossed for my son tomorrow. And maybe say a prayer or two.

Clearing day

Another sunny day so we decided to empty our storage room and do a clear out. Said and done. 5 hours later – completed. One round to throw away cardboard, plastic and glass. Then another round tomorrow for the rest that we need to take to the waste disposal site. Yeah. Feels great.

My oldest is out with his friends tonight so we picked up pizza for dinner. I tried a new flavor – prawns, asparagus, rocket sallad and lemon. Weird, ha? It was a bit too weird, actually. It was ok, I guess, but I will not chose it again.

Now we are watching a new season of the series “Marcella”. Have a nice evening, everyone!

Special day

Finally the day has come – my oldest niece is graduating from the “gymnasium”. This amazing, smart, sweet human being has completed her education and is now ready to take the next step and face the world. Or maybe continue with uni or college. She hasn’t decided just yet.

The day treated us excellent weather. And her parents treated us a wonderful garden party with great food and drinks, lovely decorations and great family & friends. A perfect ending of a perfect day. Thank you, sis and brother-in-law, for making this day so special! Love you!

Congratulations, Karin, and thank you for being the fantastic person you are! Have fun tonight out with your friends – but be safe and take care! Love you!

And congratulations, Sara, for completing the mandatory part of Swedish education. Wish you the best in your choice of education and “gymnasium”, in which I think you will be brilliant! You are a star! Love you!

Graduation

Today we went to congratulate a dear friend who graduated today. Congratulations to you, J! All of us friends had pitched in for her present and I just loved the way it was wrapped! We gave her a balloon-ride and the card was made to symbolize that event. Very clever! I hope she will enjoy the ride and that she will be able to find a time to do it.

We have three young ladies graduating this year among our closest friends. This was the first one. The second one is tomorrow – my oldest niece. And the third one is next week. Since we are unable to attend the third one we gave M our gift tonight.

Time to hug my pillow. Didn’t sleep so good last night so I hope tonight will be better.

National day ??????

Our national day in Sweden – June 6th! Day off from work! Yeah!

Unfortunately I had forgotten to not set my alarm .. tried to go back to sleep but after trying for half an hour I gave up and enjoyed a quiet morning instead. Made American pancakes and watched tv. Lovely.

We invited my parents-in-law over for dinner and we had a lovely evening together. The last couple of years we have spent this day out in our second paradise, but this year they needed to be in town for different reasons so we invited them over here instead.

Our elder tree is already in bloom. Usually it starts to bloom after midsummer, but this year everything is upside-down. I might need to pick flowers soon in order to get a batch of elder tree flower cordial done. Maybe this weekend.

Cold day ⛅?

Strange day. Quite busy. Woke up by one of our alarms setting off. Not the best way of waking up. Something was wrong with the gadget, but my husband was home and took care of it.

Today it was really windy outside with cold northern winds make the day very chilly. Only about 8 C when I went to work. Brrr. And not much  more when I went back home. Should be a perfect evening to enjoy our SPA.. Much more pleasant when it’s chilly outside.

30-day challenge

New week again. What-ever happened to the weekend? After work I had an appointment with my naprapath. Haven’t seen him since April. He gave me a 30-day challenge – to do squats. Blä. But, I guess it will do me some good. I did my day 1 challenge when I got home. Let’s see if I will manage to continue 29 more days. Need to figure out a good time to do them though. Maybe in the morning. Hmm. We’ll see.

Bought some strawberries and raspberries to enjoy tonight. The perfect snack! Have a nice evening!

Show time

Time for the yearly show with my niece dance group. And they were brilliant – as usual!

This year they had a Peter Pan theme – about how he chose his outfit. Quite funny and the show was great. Their choreographers and art directors work miracles.

Stayed for a coffee and a chat when I dropped my mom off after the show. It was really nice to sit down for a minute and spend some time with my parents.

When I got back home it started to rain. So weird. I was playing the piano and felt the change of smell in the air – looked out and it was raining. God knows we need it! I heard some thunder too. It is so very dry outside the garden could need a good soak. Fingers crossed!

Weekend! ☀️☀️☀️

What a day. It’s 30C outside and too hot to stay in the sun for more than a few minutes here and there.

We had smoked salmon for lunch served with a potato sallad. Perfect food on a hot day. Tonight we are thinking about trying the new Indian restaurant in Stuvsta that has received great reviews. Should be interesting to see if I like it – I’m not a great fan but to be honest I haven’t really given it a fair chance.

Summer party

Time for the yearly summer party with my work. This time we got to try rowing where four rowers share a boat and one leader is calling the shots and help everyone cooperate. I decided to stay on shore together with a colleague and we had a lovely hour in the sun before they returned again.

Afterwards we went to a seafood and fish grill that is a fairly new and upcoming restaurant in town. We had a great afternoon and evening together and I think everyone was happy with the event! The food was really good and I can truly recommend STIM Grill.
