Met my amazing niece after work for some girly time. And after a couple of hours it was time to head down to Kungsträdgården and all the festivities around welcoming our pride and joy back to Sweden after their win in the ice hockey world championships in Copenhagen. The park was crowded with cheering people wearing their jerseys. The sun was shining from a clear blue sky and it was quite warm to stand there in the sunshine waiting for the players. The rock group who wrote the theme song “En för alla för en” back in 2013 for that championship was there to play the song as the players entered the stage. They play a few tunes of it every time we score a goal – and it really injects new energy to everyone. A magic moment and I am so glad I went. And great to share it with my niece!
Gold! ??????
What a tournament! We won every single game and lost only one point when we won on overtime. And then we beat Switzerland after overtime and penalty shots. What a game! But, we managed to come out on top and defend our gold from last year. So much fun to follow the team and I am already looking forward to next year.
And my old classmate who is the manager of the team is doing a brilliant job. I’m so proud and happy for his success! Keep up the good work, Rikard!
Whit Sunday
Time to raise the flag and honor the Whit Sunday. My husband went bicycling with some friends from work and left at 09.30 this morning. Arrived back home 10 hrs and 120 km later.. Very tired but ok and happy with his day.
Me and M stayed at home and had my parents and sister w/ family over for coffee. My parents wanted to celebrate M early since they are not able to come over on his birthday because they are going down to our paradise for a bit. And my sister wanted to see my parents before they leave so they came over too. But they will be here on Ms birthday too. We could sit outside and have our coffee and cake and it was a lovely day!
Now the final game to enjoy. Going for gold. To defend our title from last year. Towards Switzerland this time. The US defeated Canada earlier this afternoon 4-1.
Culinary Tour
A great day among friends! 12 of us participated in a culinary tour of the Old Town. We have tasted delicious dishes from all over the world and visited 6 restaurants – first cold cuts of ham and salami from Corvina, then Chinese specialities from Formosa, then gelato from StikkiNikki, then fish and seafood from FISK, then a warm fish dish to die for at Österlånggatan 17 and finally coffee and cake at Under Kastanjen. Wine, beer, drinks included. And a fantastic guide who really made the day that extra special.
Now time to enjoy the recorded semi-final Sweden-USA from this afternoon. It was hard to avoid finding out the result and the clear numbers speak for themselves!! 6-0 victory! Final – here we come!
Friday again
A very long week with a lot of things to deal with, think about, take into consideration and adjust to. But. I feel better than I have in a long time. And the aroma massage I treated myself to after work was to die for. Pizza take away for dinner. Now some corner time, Let’s Dance on the tv, a whisky to enjoy and a bun from the batch that I baked when I got back from work. Life is not so bad.
Quarter
What a day. I dread the game tonight. I have a terrible hate-love-relation to quarter finals. The worst game of them all. Fingers crossed we will go thru.
My niece is graduating from the “gymnasium” in a couple of weeks and my contribution to the party is vanilla buns. So I decided to bake them tonight while waiting for the ice hockey to begin. And they turned out great! I hope she will like them!
Ps. We won 3-2 towards Lettland!!! Semi on Saturday facing the US.
28C
Another glorious day with sunshine and clear blue sky.
I met up with an old friend for lunch – she works in a church close by but we have never made lunch-plans before. It was great to see her and we had a lovely time. I hope we can do it again sometime. They are thinking about letting their daughter attend the same school as F is going to abroad, so that was part of the reason for our date. I hope I could help.
Picked up some groceries on my way home and now me and M have had dinner. My husband is away with his friends tonight, and tomorrow night as well but with work. And no hockey tonight – but a quarter final tomorrow to look forward to. Sweden vs. Lettland. After work. Yeah!
Puh ?
Still lovely summery weather which is so nice. Unfortunately a long day at work so no time to enjoy the sunshine. Got a lot done today – had to stay an hour late to wait for a delivery that wasn’t on time. Starting to become a habit..
Tonight it is the last game in the group play towards Russia. If we win this one we will win our group and then we will have a possibly easier quarter final than if we come in second. Fingers crossed.
Full week
What a day! It’s almost 30C outside. But, I will not complain about the weather. It is amazing to finally have some warm and sunny days.
Our apple trees just started to bloom and they are also amazing. So pretty. I love spending time in our garden trying to do something every day. Can’t wait for my peonies to bloom – the plant is bigger than ever. And our new rose bushes are also coming along nicely.
Bought a new pair of jeans shorts on my way home. My old pair was beyond repair and revealed more than I felt ok with. Lol. I need to update my wardrobe – but the fashion right now isn’t what I like. I am not a very big fan of all these frills they attach to everything.
Paradise
What a great day! We have spent the entire day with my parents-in-law in our second paradise. Premier weekend on the island for them too – they have the boat in winter-care and just put it in the ocean on Friday. So we helped them take out the outdoor furniture etc. A fantastic day in the sun with great food and company. M has been studying for his exams and we have planned our trip we are going to take together over new years. Yeah.
Back to normal again with a five-day work week after having two weeks in a row with holidays. And I think the nice weather will stay with us for another couple of days. Lovely.
