When I picked up my youngest today from school the thermometer in the car showed 29C (84F). Unbelievable. It dropped to 25C (77F) when I started to drive, but still. It is absolutely gorgeous outside with the apple trees in bloom, birds singing and clear blue sky. When I took this photo it almost looked like it was going to thunder any minute but it cleared up pretty quickly.
After an afternoon at the hospital getting allergy shots, rushed home to fix dinner and then a parent meeting in church for the upcoming confirmation this summer I have finally crashed in my corner, with my latte. No hockey tonight – feel a bit lost to be honest – but tomorrow all four quarter finals take place. Sweden are up against Belarus – the host country of the tournament with tons of people cheering on them. Going to be a tough game. Fingers crossed and jersey on!
Caesar
Tuesday. My long day. Had a great start (the scale was actually in a good mood) and a lovely Caesar sallad for lunch. Quite busy day.
But summer is here! Really sunny and warm outside. Took a walk home instead of the last bus! Lovely!
The Canadians beat Norway, as expected, but only just. This means we are second in our group. Now the remaining games today will decide who we will meet in the quarter finals. The scariest game in the whole tournament. Brrr..
Pancakes..
Simple is sometimes the best. Monday dinner with Swedish thin pancakes can make anyone happy and content. My kids love them which makes up for the work cooking them. A whole stack gone in a matter of minutes. Served with caster sugar or raspberry/blackberry jam. Yum.
Tonight is the last game in the group play before the quarter finals begin on Thursday. Italy is on tonight. We will most likely end up second in our group. Really well considering. Now lets hope some of our injured players are able to recover and get ready to play again. Otherwise we are definitely up for a struggle.
Paradise #2
Sunday on Långgarn – our paradise closer to home in the archipelago outside Stockholm. The first half of the day in bright sunshine and summer feeling. Lovely to sit by the sea and have coffee and just relax.
Second half of the day a bit cloudy, chilly and even some rain. Perfect to sit inside then and enjoy some hockey. Canada is our opponent this time. (Canada drew the longer straw and beat us after 2-2 in full time 🙁 )
A helicopter landed
Summer arrived today. It has been amazing outside with very warm weather and sunshine from a clear blue sky all day.
We have really put in a lot of work today starting with a walk over to my parent’s house to tend to their flowers, mail and aquarium since they are in paradise for a week.
They still have the ceramics turkey I made in high school during my year away. It’s a fond memory! Now we have cleaned the house on the outside and I have painted a door and a window among other things. Groceries and laundry are also taken cared of. I think I have earned some me-time now.
Tonight we had quite a drama on our street. A helicopter ambulance landed and fire trucks prevented the traffic. They ran down towards the lake and came back with someone on a stretcher. Scary!
Impressive how professional and organized they were and how quickly everything happened.
We could read in the news that they had found a person in the water. Hopefully they could save him/her.
Back to normal
Friday – finally! And my youngest is back home again – oh – I have missed him so much!
I treated myself a nice sushi-lunch today and now we have had grilled beef for dinner! I was hoping we could have our meal outside but once the sun switches side of our house it is quite chilly in the shade. So, we ate in the kitchen.
Now I am relaxing and enjoying a glass of red waiting for the next hockey game. Slovakia tonight. Oh I love these tournaments!
PROM 1987
I had a great chat with my American sis this morning – it is amazing that we have been able to stay in touch and still be so close after all these years. She has an exchange student from Sweden staying with her family this year and they just had their prom the other day. So, I sent her this pic from our prom night 27 years ago. I think she enjoyed seeing it!
Now I’m getting ready for today’s challenge.. we are up against France tonight.
Groceries
Short working day today but I did good and took the stairs and then I walked home the last part. It was almost raining, but I managed to get home before it started. It is quite a nice walk really, I especially like the part past the lake. So peaceful.
Then when I got home I did laundry, went grocery shopping and then started dinner – yiouvetsi – a Greek casserole with pasta rice, beef and tomatoes. It is supposed to be lamb – not beef – but the store didn’t have any lamb today. Not parts to my liking anyway. I know, I can be a bit picky.
Now some me-time in my corner. Cause I deserve it!
Pyssel hos N – 13 maj 2014
Walk home
I didn’t take the stairs today at work – I have to buy milk on Mondays so I have a lot to carry then. So, I made up for it by taking a walk on my way home. Skipped the last bus and walked the 2,5 k.
A nice quiet afternoon – so I decided to go over to Zetas Trädgård and buy some new “food” for the roe deer that has selected our garden to be his/her personal pantry. I found a few plants that the roe deer isn’t supposed to like. We’ll see about that..
